Feeding cows seaweed could cut their methane emissions by 82%, scientists say

Agriculture makes up about 10% of emissions in the US, much of it from cows that belch, and to a lesser extent, fart out methane. This has led to some climate campaigners to urge people to eat less meat but the UC Davis researchers said that existing meat production could be made better for the climate by putting seaweed on the menu for cattle.
Researchers found cows belched out 82% less methane after putting small amount of seaweed in their feed for five months

You can have an impact on the environment without kelp.

Some meat proteins are a lot more resource heavy than others....so eat those less
Most resourse heavy to least
Beef.
pork
chicken
fish

And then vegetables. I need meat protein to not murder people in the house and as we age its harder to digest beef so i mostly eat chicken and fish.....but do roasts of pork and beef less frequently.

That and these shitty 10 watts spost to be 100 watts of light...making me blind lights...well shit me and Elon Musk are working on a rocket ship powered by Yeti Boomers !

So far testing has shown we get to the moon and back in 5 hours.

:D

Just a chart to give an idea about what it is we are talking about the Enteric Fermentation is cow and other ruminant animal farts.

I think we could do loads better like if we stopped grain finishing cattle and rotational graze them while also sequestering carbon in the soil
and we can take a look at this next chart to see why that might be important

Manure management and Landfills should be as big of an issue as telling people to eat less meat which will have to happen if we change the current model of meat production. We should also care about our shit and trash too.
Sorry I just love meat and hate how we ignore the other ways we could make an impact and also FUCK big oil who I am sure could do some shit to curb that fat 32% over there

Agree 100%. Plus completely grass fed beef just plain tastes better. I'm fortunate enough to be friends with farmers, I haven't bought meat at the grocery store in years (outside of the occasional hankering for some hot dogs or a can of corned beef hash...I have my guilty pleasures). It's certainly more expensive though, even buying from friends, but we've just opted to reduce our portions. It's two meatballs and a bunch of pasta and bread now instead of four to six meatballs and a little plate of pasta lol. I can't see myself ever giving up meat, tastes too damn good, but eating it a little less often, or in slightly smaller portions was actually an easy change to make. Especially when it means all my food tastes better now too.

Yeah bro that'd be cool huh? Lol I do love beef!
I love beef too, because it comes from a store, and I don't have to kill it myself! I grew up hunting and fishing and continued up until I turned 55 or so. I don't know what happened to me, but I just don't want to kill anything any more. When I go fishing, I even throw them all back.
What does that say about me?
Guaranteed, I still eat meat!!!

Just shy of 8 billion now. I don't think cows, chooks, sheep numbers have drastically increased in that time. Maybe it's time for McDonald's to be replaced with Dahmer's.... just saying. Cut emissions quickly right there lol I know two certain regular clients... buffalo bob and Dr Hannibal. Hahaha

Honestly when I catch a Catfish.... the struggle is real bro lol. They're so cute and I love them so it's hard to kill them. Delicious still though lol.
