So one of the shitake bags is out..got that sour mash smell to it.

Fermentation taking place...

So that stated, with a 1lb spawn bag, still colonizing, thinking of what direction I should take this. Smaller tray? and use it for a LC experiment? Transfers/cultures? 5lb fruiting block?

Lol quite a few options..What do you guys think?

I don't know enough about it to say, but have a great interest in learning more so i will be following. I love eating and cooking with mushrooms. Foraging for them as well. I just noticed that territorial seeds is selling truffle inoculated english oaks. Pissed they won't ship them to califonia.
Now that sounds pretty neat ! I may have to look into that!

I say go for the big option, show us some monster shitakis!
I am leaning towards the 5lb saw dust fruiting block

5 cups Alder Pellets
1.4 Liters water
1 1/4 cups wheat bran

put that baby in a PC for 2.5 hours with a filter sleeve in the gussett, when cool in SAB mist with alcohol, remove sleeve, dump in broken up spawn bag, reseal with impulse sealer. Mix that baby up. Let colonize..

I least that's what I might intend to try ..lol

My chef heart skipped a beat and as i was racing to order i caught the no CA. Only f'ing state that can't order it. What bs.

If I get the portabello prints I have cleaned up, and they're viable, I'd gladly send you some prints. No borders when doing some forum trading :D

Same with the oysters. If my logs take off, I'll def be down to send tissue samples and prints to anyone interested. They'll need cleaned up, but spreading the love is what it's about.

I am going to try to make some LC from my buddies plug spawn he has Shiitake, Maitake, Lionsmane, and Reishi. If it works id like to get on agar to clean it up..Like to try to get one off my enoki's also, still trying to determine how im going to fruit them hehehe

Really leaning towards a fruiting block...go big or go home right?!

I really would like to get a culture of this, so I can start more bags in the future. Can I take a small piece and just get it in agar while in the SAB?
