Hey All,
So I have been snooping around these parts for about a month, and I will say ya'll are a welcoming bunch. And I mean that as a compliment!
@Gentlemancorpse was kind enough to invite me over to this site, so shout out to him. Thank you Sir.

I have not been growing long, just started when my state went legal in Jan of 2020. (I did do research for six months prior to that though)
I only have 2 complete grows under my belt, but I can say that I have learned a lot in the last ten months and I have been pleased with the outcomes so far.
I only grow for personal use and to have the chance to gift to friends. My preferred method of use is edibles. (BTW, I hadn't use cannabis in over 30 years before starting to grow my own.)

We have a maximum plant count of 5 plants, so I will never have the gardens that some of you do.
I grow in hydroponics, thus far in a modified E&F system. @.Smoke and @Buck5050 are tutoring me as I will soon attempt some Hempy buckets as well.
I have used a SCROG screen in all of these grows so far, but I am considering letting some plants grow out more naturally with just LST'ing.
I enjoy the DIY side of things and have made my own LED lights so far.

Why does this feel like I'm filling out a dating app or some crap?? :ROFLMAO:

I'll post up some pics from my first two grows, cause that's how you prove life happens, right?

I will try and catch up on my current stuff in my next post.

Everyone is welcome to comment in here. If you see something WillieP is doing wrong or that I can improve on, feel free to chime in.
Cheers,
WillieP

I will link this here:

As you can see this grow has not been what I would call perfect.
I have made some Whoopsies' along the way, me being a dumbass and not cal'ing my PH pen has been the most detrimental.
Not sanitizing my hydroton between grows is another. Fungus gnats aren't helping matters either.
That said, we are still chugging along.
This is the Durban Poison that I have in flower, 28 days since flip to 12/12.
I was gifted these seeds. (and they came straight from South Africa)
IMG_7198.JPG IMG_7199.JPG IMG_7200.JPG

This is the '1968' strain, I came damn close to loosing her but it seems to be making a full recovery.

IMG_7201.JPG IMG_7202.JPG

And these are the three plants that I was just recently gifted, along with the '1968'.
IMG_7205.JPG

These are a Bruce Banner, a Northern lights hybrid, and a cross of that Northern Lights hybrid X Atomic Bomb.
The clones were taken in flower and are still coming out of it.

@Buck5050 ---Those clones I mentioned getting were a little larger than I was expecting...;)

That fills out my 5 plants for know.
I will be able to drop the M99 seeds that @MO_Grow was kind enough to send me after I finish out the DP.

I will try and give some more details on my system and how I am doing things when I have a chance.

Cheers,
WillieP

Thank you Frimpong.
I was pleased with how well it went.
I pulled 12 OZ from two plants on my first grow, and 11.5 OZ from one plant on my second grow. (I had one plant Hermie on me)
Turns out I can grow it a lot faster than I can use it, but it's really cool to be able to share with some friends, especially the ones that are using it as medicine.

Happy you decided to follow my advice to come here despite its dubious origins lol

Love what you got going on! Looks like you got your issues figured out. Im super intrigued by the 1969 and can't wait to watch your journey with her
Thanks GC,
I just found out yesterday that the '1968' strain is not a cutting as I thought, but has came from seed.
So I don't really know if she is a he or a she. Fingers crossed for a pink party at the gender reveal.

What's up willie!

Normally rockwool cubes or root riot plugs are a good starting point for seeds in hempy. Direct transplant of rooted clones work well also. With a bigger plant like what you have, I feel trying to wash away that much soil could possibly cause problems later in the grow and would be bad advice on my part.

When receiving new plants from other grow areas it's wise to keep a keen eye on them before introducing them into your area just in case of pests. This is a technique practiced by more experience growers. Looking into some type of integrated pest management can be beneficial in the long run no matter if you're having issues or not. Lost coast "plant therapy" works well and they'll send a free sample so you can try it.

Plant counts make it really hard to maneuver in a garden, but I suggest dabbing into some cloning techniques so you can preserve something you really enjoy later down the road.

If you wanna roll with these new girls you have in soil I don't see it being long before they are ready for flower based of of size. A quick up-potting and away you go.

Sup Buck,
I did see what I think is thrip damage on the new plants. I gave them a drenching with Neem oil spray just last night. Thanks for the heads up though.

I think I'm still going to try and wash away the soil and go with Hempies, and least on one to see if it will work. (No disrespect intended)
It may stall the plant, but I'm not in a hurry, and I would hope it would recover with time. Plus if I totally Ef it up, the guy I got them from said he has smaller clones still too.
Guess I'm looking at it as a science project. ;)
I have successfully cloned but just tried it one time on one plant. I thought I would take cuttings from these plants just for practice more than anything else. I would not want to loose the '1968' genetics till we can see what it has to offer.
Thanks for your feedback,
WillieP

Edit.
This was last nights post the I wrote out and forgot to hit "post reply". Duh.

So gang,
I have been doing a fair amount of research into cannabis pests, and it turns out that what I thought was Thrip damage was not...

IMG_7210.JPG IMG_7209.JPG IMG_7208.JPG IMG_7207.JPG

I can tell those are mites, but if anyone would like to get more specific for me, it would be most welcome.

As I mentioned, I sprayed to run off (drenched) with Neem oil (14 ml to one quart of warm water with a single drop of dish soap)
Tonight when I got home I used my USB scope to see if I could find anything moving, and I could not. (y)
The way I understand the treatment is to repeat every three days.
It is also advised to alternate with a different miticide, that I am still researching.

I moved these three new plants into my veg tent with the only other plant I had in there being the 1968 strain. I do not have a space to quarantine, and knew this was a risk.
I, of course, have treated all 4 plants.
I have not stepped foot into my flower tent after bringing home the plants with the infestation, I will tomorrow straight out of the shower, and before getting anywhere near the other plants.
I am hopeful about the chances to get this under control, but perhaps that is just a Noob being optimistic.
Any tip or tricks are welcome.

Wish me Luck,
WillieP

If it's done right it shouldn't stall much at all. The key to success on this is to be gentle around the roots, no pulling or major breaking. Exposing as much pure root material as possible. It's ok to submerge the soil and dunk the roots for a period of time turning the soil into a watery sludge. Once it's mostly gone shake the excess water away and place it into the hempy bucket.

Yes.

The idea here is that your first treatment would kill off all the mature pest it came in contact with(this is why they say coat it well). The eggs will hatch at times over the next week so you will reapply to kill off the newborns. This interrupts the life cycle and doesn't let them get mature enough to lay more eggs. When I run into an issue I have been using "plant therapy" every other day for 7 days as lost coast recommends and it seems to do the trick no matter how far along they are.

Solid advice as always Buck!
Gonna give it a try this weekend.

Thanks for the tip, I will look up "plant therapy" now.
