Pot size for hunting

Trying to figure out the cutoff where you can still show structure bud quality etc but grow smaller plants in a medium like coco using a f&d or similar style. I find even 1 gallon bags grow big plants and with most methods as long as they get food they grown. Will probably be using rain science or fabric pots. Any other suggestions etc are welcomed.

I can get decent plants in 1g fabrics using coco... Ive found that the 7x7 square pots stay moist just a touch longer though... I guess it just depends on preference. With these small containers, I can never go more than 24-36 hours without watering...

I only use about 1/2 gallon pots for coco with blumats. I tried going bigger but they were still about the same size. Even my keepers are in no more than a gallon usually. I just finished up some Thai testers that went 12 weeks and still no problems for the coco.

Yah, if you are growing coco with Blumats you don't need a lot of substrate. I just grew seven 6'+ plants and each was in 2 gallons of coco with a single Blumat each.

Not sure if your concern is height or area or both, but I agree with you statement about 1 gallon. I did a run with 1 gal coco DTW thinking it would keep them small. Some of the plants still got tall - untopped they went 58". First grow of a new strain I don't like to top or LST. That's a factor and another would be to take genetics into account - maybe smaller pots for stretchers and stay with 1 gal for shorter strains.

64 in a 4x4 lol. I would get lost in there. I dont think the plants would stay that small for me. A good curse I have I guess. Thanks for all the good info folks. Thinking half gallons will probably be the ticket. As well as possibly double cloning and flowering the clones smaller

Just curious but do you start them in 12/12 ?
I’ve done both, but I prefer to start them in smaller pots at 24, 20-4 or 18-6 before up potting. I like keeping my light close so the plants don’t stretch and are short/bushy with tight nodes. If I only had one tent or grow area I’d probably run 20-4 the first 2-3 weeks and then flip them.

I haven’t done one in a while but I should hunt some packs of fems soon.

9 litre mondi pots....why...well they are square Avi....

9 x 9 inches on the top and at 2.3 US gallons hold the same as a 3 gallon trade pot (mondi is actual volume).

I have 15 of the 2 litres in my grow box (3 x 5 fits PERFECT)
a dozen of the 9 litres and many of every other size...SQUARE for perfect fit.

Circles are for pi high space dreams.
