so have you thought about a price point per bucket? or did i miss it?

Also interested.
That monster bud you just posted a picture of was harvested from this system, ya?
I don't have a price point nailed down yet, but for a basic bucket, no media or pump is probably around $40.

For a complete kit that includes 1 bucket, 3 net pots, media, and a reservoir pump that is capable of pumping an 8 site manifold will run in the $125 area I believe.
Making a 4 site system run $250 and an 8 site $410.

So, pretty much the same as a cheap ass Amazon DWC system, but no air pumps or reservoir changes needed in the buckets thanks to it being DTW.
Those numbers may get tweaked a bit, but are pretty close.

That bud was NOT from this system.
The system is brand new and my oldest plant in it is around 2-3 weeks into flower atm.

Looking to be a good day in the Veg Swamp.

There's a Gelato and 2 Granddaddy Purple's on the top deck under a 600w hps..

And below there's a Nirvana Original Glue popping shell..

Along with a fem photo GG#4 X Chocolate Diesel from Useful seeds directly planted in the bucket with no dome needed that @GthaEnigma was kind enough to gift to me!

Finishing it off with a few cuttings in the bubble cloner.

Interesting.
I take you are distributing the water to many points so all the media gets wet? Running as DTW?
May not be an issue but flood pushes air out and draws new in. May not be an issue may be an issue.
Other then that roots clogging the drain can be an issue. Some use a copper screen to prevent roots in that area. Some use a bucket inside a bucket. Turn the top bucket it every so often and roots are removed from the drain area.
I like the idea of not reusing the nutrients. I had rot when I tried hydro. I’ll be following along.

The watering is a single point system that feeds directly into the 2" pot. This allows for seeds to be germinated directly in the site, along with clones directly after cutting using 1.5" rockwool cubes.

It's not so much a "flood" system, but more a hybrid dwc/hempy system.

The shelf liners I ordered finally showed up. No more cardboard or worries of a few drops here and there now.

Everyone is looking good and I'm pretty pleased with the new veg setup.
20201231_123657.jpg
The new system allows me to move things completely around in just a few minutes, and has given me the ability to have separate veg/seedling/clone areas, making a 4'x4' a lot more than just 16 sq. ft. to set some buckets in.

I'll be working in the flower tent later and will have some updates from it Inc soon.

Getting some work done in the flower tent.

It's filled to the brim with 3-Granddaddy purples, 2- Glueberry, 1- Chemdog Gorilla, 1- Gelato, 1- Zkittlez Glue, and an MK Ultra that is finally starting to amber up.

The oldest GDP is showing some nice colorings. I'm glad I kept the pheno I chose.

Yooooo wow this pheno looks stellar . Hats off to ya ?

I just turned the veg tent into a closed "fallponics" style system.

Feeding @ 10gal/hr, the overflow from the buckets now recirculates back into my reservoir via an automatic condensate pump, falling from the top to add D.O. back into the system.

Not having trouble with DTW, just interested to see if the buckets can also be used as a recirculating system.

Fingers crossed.

I'm getting a little more refining done incase the fallponics setup actually works.

I modified a shutoff float to work as a nozzle sprayer for the return. (1/2" drill bit ftw)

Between the discharge from it and the pinhole I have in my supply line (for vacuum breaker), it looks like keeping a good D.O. level shouldn't be an issue hopefully.

So, after a thorough reservoir cleaning, I have 30 gallons running 6 sites currently.
Feed per gallon is R.O. water, 4ml Calimagic, 2.5gr Epsom, and 2.5gr of 1 part Megacrop (getting switched out for Jack's 3-2-1 once my order gets here. That'll be a new thing for me too. Only ran GH flora and M/C so far.)
EC 1.8, PH 5.7.

Hopefully everyone is alive in the morning...

About to pull my hair out.
I'm still revamping the design to run full hydro.
I think I found my solution.

No more media. Constant circulation.
1.5" rockwool cube. 2" collar for the pot.
The overflow gets pumped back into my 30gal reservoir, which adds oxygen back in.

Thanks.

1/4 inch drainline will need a bit of head to break the airlock, and initiate full syphon.
That cycle could precipitate a very high surge height in the station. A larger drain would help with aeration on the return trip to the res, and provide some overflow protection.
Oversized Plumbing starts adding to the price tag very quickly; however the cost of a flood is incalculable.
