Going to be doing a little trapping here myself. Those little stinkin mice are trying to steal my peat moss.

Have you ever lost a mouse trap? It is a thing.

Apparently , when you are working a trap-line, all of the traps are secure by chain to a long stake that would make it impossible to lose, even in deep snow.

When my grandpap was a boy , he dug a frozen animal out of a snow drift that had become ensnared in his trap. As he was recovering the animal he noted that it was frozen hard, and identifiable to him. Only after he unsecured the chain from the stake he began to retrieve the animal from the trap. He mentioned , sometimes both the trap and animal were frozen into a ball of ice , and he had to take them home in one piece.

As he set to work opening the trap, in an instant , the frozen lump of fur became a fiery screaming demon. The beast was not only alive, but also intent on killing.

Young Gramps had one end of the end of the chain in his hand , and all hell attached to the other.

Holy shit, @Jewels !

So how'd it end? Did Grampa the Kid drop the chain and haul ass? Did he and the wolverine each hold the chain in one hand and pull their switchblades out with the other and have a knife fight to the death? Did they talk it out and come to a mutual understanding and later open up a bar together?

C'mon Man, you gotta end the tale!

Figured I'd make a post about Canadian breeders. I'll list those I've dealt with that I can remember off the top of my head, and hopefully others will share their list.

Peak Seeds BC- been growing MikeJ's stuff for all but the first few months. He's all about solid old school strains and is happy to release his IBLs. Free delivery. If you contact him, ask about unlisted stuff. He's an awesome person and loves to talk cannabis breeding and cultivation.

Jordan of the Islands-consensus seems to be good genetics, very very slow service, especially to international addresses. Black Cali Grapes was a great strain, currently have some healthy robust Blueberry Muffins in veg.

Lucky13- Interesting lineup and good prices. White Wolf freebie was powerful couchlock meds. I have Romulan in flower right now and it is looking like a short, stubby old time indica. I'm planning on making some crosses and pulling out that F1 vigour. Also have a cross on order that is not at all my normal purchase, a Thin Mint x PCK that sounds delicious. That should be arriving this week.

Saskatchewan Seed Company-they only sell three strains, a sweet tasty strawberry, a purple kush (first pheno smells like red wine), and a hign CBD strain I have not yet grown out. Very low prices and so far, very solid genes.

Feel free to share your experiences with these or other Canadian cannabis breeders.

I think Next Generation is the only vendor I have dealt with. Their Grapefruit Diesel is still one of my favs.

Growing out some Unk gear. Probably the most Canadian and rarest beans in the land ,took me a year to get a hold of them. They come down this week.
@Uncle Rom was ok with that White Wolf. Not so much the other stuff if I recall.

@OldG passed me a Canuk Chz. His was meh; but mine was solid and cheezy.

Only slightly off topic, but I would really love to get my hands on some Jean Guy.

So how'd it end?
I think that is what they call "having the tiger by the tail"

It seemed determined to kill him, and he
was to afraid to let go only to find out who could run faster.
He could flip and yank the chain to keep the animal at bay.

Even then , this is real life - not Hollywood we are not talking about John Wick here. You get in close quarters with something like that and a rifle ain't much good.

During this dance there was a specific task he needed to complete ,,,and I honestly forget exactly what it was. Perhaps he was unsheathing his rifle, or simply trying to chamber a round into the single bolt action .22.
At any rate it was all done one-handed. The Wolverine would pause, pant, and hunker down to hiss for periods. However, when Gramps set to task again the Beast would come at him.

I was a young gaffer the only time I heard that story and I didn't have much of an attention span.
I know he brought that pelt home victorious, ,, those are all the details I can remember as facts.

This happened in the late 30's, Cherry Grove , AB.
That rifle was probly a hand-me-down at the time.
I used that .22 a couple years ago, she is still a fine pce of machinery.

All i can say is GROWLIGHTS.ca

I got a cheap darkroom tent from amazonia and its half the tent a fusion hut is. The LED boards they are selling are a good value too.

Free shipping after 90 i think. I like wegrowbuds and indoorgardener too for sales.

wegrowbuds is really decent too...i ordered a 25 pound bag of jacks 20 20 20 and 10 30 20 and they sent me 2 sacks of 20 20 20....i said what gives...1 is a lifetime...2 days later i had a sack of 10 30 20...keep the extra 20 20 20.

Not too shabby. Shop sales though and be price savvy a lot of their gear is expensive.

Wow! That would be a trophy to prize forever. Was he able to keep the pelt, or more likely, was it sold?

People today talk about being tough, but those old country boys lived it. And it wasn't to be cool or impress, it was just how life was, especially in the Dirty Thirties.

My Grandpa was fucking around with his brothers on the farm around the same time as your Grandpa was fighting the wolverine. Somehow my Grandpa managed to take a .22 in the face. I don't know, but it was presumably a .22 short. It went straight in, right at the side of his nose.

He didn't die, and seemed to be okay, so they didn't even go to a doctor. The bullet lodged in his sinuses and 5 or 6 days later it worked loose and he spit it out. His nose was forever misshapen(not horribly bad, just crooked), and when he ate the sound of his breathing through his nose sounded pretty gross, but other than that he seemed fine He sure never complained about it, but then he never stopped smiling through a long, painful and fatal fight with cancer either, so who knows.

Kids today call our generation "old school" and "tough", but we know better. We are pussies compared to the true OGs.

RIP Grandpa

I complain when it hots 0 C
Just what we are used to, I guess. This time of year 0C is a heatwave to me. I've been taking the bong out on the balcony and smoking in a tee shirt the last couple days.

I laughed one time in Vegas in January. It was 14 or 15C and I was wearing shorts and a tee shirt and loving it, and this big American woman comes up to me in a parking lot with this amazed look and a heavy accent and says, with no preamble "Yew must be frum Caynaduh".

This genuinely warmed my heart. It's easy to think of these players as hockey machines, but they are also teenage kids far away from family and friends on Christmas.

I'd never really thought about the details before, but reading how the people who run Hockey Canada worked to evolve the World Juniors into a happy and memorable event makes me proud to be from this country.

Hockey Canada took it from being a time when players were dealing with depression, being homesick and missing family, friends and the entire Christmas experience into a time, along with playing in the tournament, that they’d look back on as a highlight of their careers and their lives.

“In my first years, from 1990 to 1993, we didn’t do that kind of stuff,” said Nicholson.
“Then we started having Santa Claus, having gifts and everything. It became a pretty big production...

Seed bank seems legit but I called BS on this one pounder.
Even if that main Cola is a quarter-pound (which it is not ) you still wouldn't find another 10 oz on that plant.

I'm using a Fusion Hut 6x6, Fusion Breath 6" fan and filter. Good gear. A couple pinholes on the tent when I got it, but otherwise it's been a good tent for a couple years now.

The Fusion oscillating fan I bought, however, was one hell of a heavy duty looking thing....and it sh*t the bed after only about 2 months :(

I was thinking if I need new lights I will go thru them this time.
