Yes. I have a buddy who's just wrapping up his first grow using Jacks 321 and Happy Frog soil. But know that soil has nutrition in it, unlike coco which is inert. This means that you probably wont need to feed as often in soil, and a when you do it will be at a lesser strength than you would with coco.

If I was growing in soil containers using Happy Frog or Ocean Forest, I'd feed with straight water for the first month or so.
Hey @ricky_simples i visited the jacks web page today. Do you have any info or knowledge of there water testing service? It sounds like a kit that they provide but i do not see it anywhere on the site for sale. The instruction forms makes it sound like there is a kit but i do not see it anywhere.

You mentioning that now is the first time I've heard of that. No news on my end on that compadre.

Hey @Capt. C , if you contact them they will send you a lot and then you send it back to them and they’ll analyze it and basically build a nutrient regimen based off of your water. They are also very canna friendly. Hope this helps?✌?

Was Jack's Fertilizer formerly known as Peters? Many years ago, Peters 10-50-10 was what I ran for bloom consistently, in hydro and soilless /soil.
It was the only readily available brand that had additional Mag. It was even less expensive than MirGro here.
I never had an issue with Magnesium deficiency until Peters was no longer available.
When I switched to the expensive, over hyped, liquid brands at the hydro store, Mag deficiency was almost always an issue.

Good stuff, thanks for the info, I'll be looking into Jacks for sure.
I believe JR Peters is the name of the holding company and the product line is called Jacks. I'm totally guessing so don't quote me on that. But yeah I would think you're talking about the same company.
This is 100% accurate ☝☝☝ Jack's is owned by Jr peters
Not claiming to have all the details but jpcyan might be referring to when Jack sold the name and existing formula and signed a term limited noncompete (I think it was 2 years back in the mid 90's). The way I understood it is the company that purchased dinked with the recipie and then when the non-compete was up Jack started JR Petters and I think basically put the other company out of business.
Not that it relates to anything of value....

You’re welcome Capt. I had a typo in the last bit I posted. I was trying to say they’ll send you a kit for testing your water. Sounds like you are getting things figured though. Please let us know how that goes. I may do the same but I already have a massive amount of the 321 parts. I’m going to use it and love it, I made a small gallon batch for my house plants first feed of the season and they are looking spectacular! Have a great day??✌?

I run filtered tap water so i thought i would be better off getting it tested to see exactly what is in it.

I am assuming your house plants are in soil. Do the 321 work the same in soil as hydro?

They are in soil and yes it works the same. It’s just raw nutrient salts without the water and a bottle with a fancy label. It’s the most efficient way to buy and mix per gallon for synthetic nutrients. If I were doing organic I’d be buying dry amendments and building a super soil and top dressing as needed for those heavy feeding varietals. Hope this helps?✌?

I just run plain tap. I’m lucky that where I live we have really good water. I’m still curious how much they charge as I may do the test myself just so I know for sure. It’s a cool thing they’re doing. Have a great day @Capt. C ✌?
Are you on a well Tex or municipal? I am on municipal and i filter with a carbon followed by a particulate filter that i swap out once a year. I also use quite a bit of strait municipal for the humidifier and cleaning stuff. I figured chlorine or whatever they use in its place will help with any mold that might form in the humidifier. Oh by the way Jacks charges 40. usd for the water test.

Hey Tex i just heard from jacks on the water testing instructions. I guess they no longer send out a kit for that. The following is the reply from Jacks .Attached is a water sample submission form and instructions. You can send your sample(s) in any clean plastic bottle( at least 8 oz), but rinse it with distilled water first. Thanks. Brenda Stiles . Tex the submission forms are on the web site.

Ok, that’s not too bad for the water test. Do they advise how to mix their nutrients after the water test results? I’m on municipal water. It is from the bull run water shed which is glacier fed. They do add chloramine which doesn’t evaporate like chlorine so I have in the past used a de chlorination product from this company.microbelifehydro.com they have a de chlorination chemical that my local Walmart sells or sold. I’ll snap a pic when I get home so I can show you. The photosynthesis plus is an excellent microbial that can be applied as a foliar as well. Just sharing, not affiliated or anything like that. Let me know if you decide to do the test and how all that works out. ?✌?

Thanks Capt! I’m thinking of doing this. A huge part of our growing is water so why not. ????✌?

Got everything done this week with the water test from Jacks. The test came back great. They said i could use the 321 with no issues. Amazingly enough( with the country practically locked down) i mailed the sample on Monday with UPS. They received the sample on Tuesday and emailed the results on Wednesday . @ricky_simples @Texagonian any recommendations on the best place to purchase the base 321. I see it repackaged from bulk on e-bay but just starting to look around.

I found what I got from a local farm and garden store. I’d check any of the ones you have and see if they can order it for you. I got a 25lb bag of part a the jacks hydroponics for 44 bucks. Best deal I’ve found. The name of the store is Wilco farm supply. They might order and ship directly. Check them out. Thanks for the info on the water test @Capt. C .

That's awesome man. I typically use Ebay for getting jacks. Used amazon in the past but have a hard time finding it on there nowadays.

Thanks the repackaged ones look very reasonable on E-bay. Shit Jacks site wants almost 18 us dollars for shipping the 321 kit. Plus i THINK there are things in that kit i do not need. Example would be the clone formula. I am assuming you can just reduce the ppm on the regular 321 for early growth.
