Testers.jpg

Germinating testers for Generic Seeds today. They were stored in the freezer, thawed in the fridge, and brought down to room temperature. I gave them a H20 and H202 (Hydrogen Peroxide) bath to wash away any potential contaminates. I was given a heads up about germination difficulties so I used a seed cracker to lightly crack the shells. Sowed directly into 6 cell trays with soil.

I am keeping the mix for seedlings extremely simple.

Soil Mix:
Recycled Soil
Perlite
Vermiculite
Light amount of Worm Castings

Right on brother! Stoked to hear your soaking some beans!

The germination rate was due to the seeds not being fully cured. I got a little froggy with releasing the testers. After a solid cure I've been getting 100% on everything.

I have noticed some types made outside in the colder climates have a stronger dormancy than some others. A few days or more of a freeze usually helps break the dormancy. The Kashmir preservation was done indoors and those beans germinated straight from the plants without issue...

I look forward to seeing how these grow for you.

Cheers brother! Be well.

It's all good brother. No worries and no hurries. Sometimes we have things that take precedence over farming. I'm grateful you're giving these beans a shake.

The Kashmir male seems to be enhancing the resin on most of his offspring. Adding that fermented oniony scent too. I have a few Mazar/BT #6 x Kashmir at 47 days and the resins are super greasy. One of the them has a texture of olive oil. My fingers slide right off the leaves. The scent is amazing too. I'm going to do a full plant wash for hashish.

The male can bring some leafy expressions to the party. However, the Kashmir is a hashish line. These plants have full extraction all over them.

Be well brother. I can't thank you enough for sharing your play. Cheers!

You have me drooling over here with that description. I sure hope the progeny in these two packs have the same quality of resin.

Thank you again for the opportunity. ?

Germination Update

5/10 are above ground so far. It seems at least 2 succumbed to rot unfortunately. I'll post a photo once everyone is officially up.

While shutdown these last 2 months or so I made additions to my grow space with the intention of improving the quality of the plants life whilst under my care. Part of that was the addition of humidifiers and dehumidifiers, as well as a brand new seedling tent as my previous one was falling apart. The size of the tent only allows me to add a humidifier and not a dehu as well. The past few days since sowing the seedlings I have been fighting the humidifier trying to find a happy medium for the small tent. 2 mornings in a row I had to wipe down the tent walls and floor because it was soaking. Anyway, it is my hypothesize that this was the cause of the aforementioned rot. My fault.

Hey brother no worries. There is potential responsibility on my end too.

I clearly sent those tester out before they were fully cured. So they probably had a little moisture in them. I thought it was all related to dormancy. That may have been part of it. Than I suggested them to be frozen to help break that dormancy. However when freezing seeds with moisture still in them can make them crack and/or damage some of the cells. So reminder to self...always make sure seeds are fully dried/cured before freezing...

I'd be happy to send replacements at any point. Just let me know.

Do your best and have fun doing it!

Thank you for helping me learn from this experience.

Be well bro,
Definitely could have been a few factors then. I've been kicking myself a bit but it's all gravy. Grow and learn, right? :lazycouchlock:Hope I get more females than males. ?
