Medical Grow, Multiple Tents

Ed Rooney

In Bloom
Dirt is just too dirty and my back can't take being hunched over the bathtub mixing 50 or 60 gallons at a time anymore.

I'm hearing you there brother.
I think this will be my last 40L(10gal) pot run, they just get too heavy. I'm experimenting with small dollies to move them around easier but its still awkward. It's great to have lower plant numbers and big girls in the tent but the hauling!
I keep saying I'll change but I know I can't help myself....maybe just 25L (6.5Gal) from here on in.

Pure perlite is so nice to work with, other than the fact it gets everywhere lol! My vacuum gets hell of a workout every up-potting

Serious pruning of the large tent. Pulled about 3 lbs of leaf and sucker shoots over the last 3 days or so already. 12/16 plants done.
The very centre 4 plants still need it, I haven't even touched them yet. It's already reduced my average relative humidity significantly.
I'm not even sure where I am with days into flower in this tent, but I think about 19 or 20 or so. I don't worry too much about tracking the flowering days of the strains I've had for a long time, I just know when they are finished.

This beast in the SCROG tent is nothing short of a monster. A Frankenstein grow medium bottom with the bubbler Hempy setup, with a Medusa looking top. Sometimes I feel if I stare too long I'm going to turn to stone with this thing. She will get a serious pruning tonight, then triggered to flower in a few days.
This combination of open bottom Hempy, with a large Hydroton filled reservoir, and bubbling airstones is working great.

My Lemon OG Kush and Purple Punch will be up-potted sometime today into large, deep Hempys with Hydroton in the bottom and a 3" deep reservoir. Each plant will be about 4 ft², so I'll need the 3" Hempy reservoirs as opposed to the standard 2" deep rez. 1619357573153.jpg
Awesome looking little plants though.

So the medium size 5x3 tent is up and running again.

Lemon OG-K, Purple Punch, Lemon OG-K

Looking a little sad ☹️ after transplanting. My Purple Punch in the centre is looking more like a Purple Nurple right now lol!

They should bounce back soon though. A little purple streaking on the main stalks but if I baby them they should spring back in a day or two.

A good foliar drench of HyShield (from HyLine/Sipco) for a blast of chitin, make them strong like bull, and keep any sucker type pests away. I swear by the stuff. There is a healthiness to my leaves I haven't seen in a while. Both greasy and very sticky at the same time, thick and supple, and stinky as hell.

I'm rather stoked for these two strains. I don't know if it's psychological or what, but I swear I can smell lemon peels when I rub the leaf stems of the Lemon OGK's.
And I've wanted to try Purple Punch for quite some time now. I am almost regretting not germinating more of the seeds I have. Next round.....

Medus-enstein in the 4x2 is about ready to flower. She was struggling with pale green a little. The pH was great, the ppm's were 800'ish.
I think in the end I had my rez level a little too high and it was keeping the plant a little too swampy. I added CalMag and I've started using Royal Gold fulvic acid as well just in case. Seems to be coming around now.

This one has been a LOT of work. It's working almost too well. Insane growth, everywhere.
The last couple weeks have been a little like being Cousin It's hairstylist lol!

I kinda wanna lift the screen and move the plant to the right and appease my OCD, but I think once I trigger it won't matter....driving me bonkers though!!

The stalk and root system is looking beefy AF!

6x6 doing well

Some egg'y smelling buckets again, but it seems to come and go randomly from random buckets, then it's gone. They don't seem phased at all.

Stacking nice....

The 5x3 tent is coming around. I've discovered you can overwater Hempy setups, even pure perlite, especially after a transplant. The mother'ing half of me wants to make sure they don't dry out but I need to give them some tough love and dry them out more and force those roots down into the rez.
They're almost back to life after a little hair cut to get some better air movement around them. Got rid of all dead leaves that might sap energy from them.

20210505_164133.jpg

Some new additions to the stockpile. I may have gone a little crazy with the 5 gallon Royal Gold fulvic acid blend, but it was a good price haha!

5 gallons Royal Gold fulvic
2.5 gallons Bloom
2.5 gallons Grow
1 gallon Citric Down
500 grams Early Start
500 grams Ton O'Bud
1kg Bud Boom

Some 250 ml bonus bottles, Ton O'Bud liquid and Super B+

I just triggered the 4x2 tent so I can hit her with some Early Start, and I get some Ton O'Bud into the 6x6 tent as well.

Unless it's something they don't provide, I am gonna call myself loyal to Future Harvest from this point on. I love that they are in no way shy about being geared for cannabis growing, in fact most of my emails from them involve recipes for edibles or how to clone cannabis, you name it.

4x2

A week in I think. This girl is sucking back about 1¾-2 gallons per day right now. I can keep it about 1000 ppm safely, no leaf tip burning, healthy supple leaves. The Early Bud additive seems to have given her a nice kick at the beginning of flower.

6x6

In the 6x6, I'm finding with my particular Hempy setup in the 5 gallons (2" drain hole height), I cannot break 900 ppm or I end up with leaf tip burn.
So I've been trying a new watering schedule for a couple weeks now:

Monday - full dose (~850-900ppm w/adds)
Tuesday - half dose (~550-600ppm w/adds)
Wednesday - water (w/carbs, fulvic)
Thursday - full dose
Friday - half dose
Saturday - half dose
Sunday - waterk

* All days have fulvic acid (Royal Gold), B1+ kelp for amino acids and carbohydrates (Carbo-Blast).

Other additives include either Early Bud, Ton O'Bud, or Bud Boom depending on the stage of flower. As well Cal-Max (Grotek), HyShield (liquified shrimp and crab shells), and HydroGuard.

Water days I don't water enough to spill the flow from the drainholes. I water for half the time of feed days, just enough to wet the perlite and fill the rez about half full. I want to keep the buildup down, but also not shock the plants with a massive swing in EC in the medium.

This new approach seems to have stopped the leaf tip burn, but I won't rush to judgement just yet.

Getting stoked to try my Lumatek power wet-trimmer soon!

5x3

Not sure what to think about these 3" deep Hempy's in this tent. I think I screwed up by putting Hydroton in the bottom, up past the top of the drain holes. The Hydroton should have only come down up to the bottom of the drain hole, allowing better wicking by the perlite, or I should have just went with straight perlite to the bottom, no Hydroton.
Trying to keep the pH and salt buildup under control, especially if plants grow at different rates, has been a pain in the butt. And I think it gets a little dry down there for the roots if I don't keep it watered, and alkalinity spikes a little.

The plant on the left is using water quicker, so it tends to end up with a higher salt content, 150-200ppm higher than the other two.

But there is a plus. I can leave the plants for 2 or 3 days and the rezzes don't get stinky at all, so it seems a trade off with these 3" deeps. I have some cuts of the Lemon OG Kush going, and will take some cuts from the centre Purple Punch plant tonight.

This rez problem should go away as soon as the plants get big enough where I have to water every day, but it definitely makes the juvenile stage a little more delicate.

I am thinking I may go with a bubbleponic/Hempy setup (like the 4x2 SCROG) in this tent next round, but we'll see.

So the SCROG tent is doing quite well. I am having a bit of a pale leaf issue, but it may be because the lights are so close to the plant. The rez likes spiking up past 1000ppm which I have to fight a bit to keep down, but overall, she's kicking some serious ass.

20210603_191342_HDR.jpg

The medium 5x3 tent is doing well with 3" deep Hempy buckets. I discovered I definitely have to let them go a few days between waterings, they seem to do much better letting them dry out quite a fair bit, then a good fill and flush out.

The plants seem to be growing slow as far as upward growth, but it's the tight internoding. They are growing lots of structure, but it's just ultra packed, short noding, stacking bud points. I have the lights nearly 3' above the plants and the 'noding is amazing. The one plant looks kinda gimpy but I just tied it down and drenched it at the time. Just stacking the bud points I love it.
20210601_212202.jpg 20210601_212208.jpg 20210601_212244.jpg

The big tent is coming down soon.....last few nights of plain pH'd water. I can't get the purple to draw out on the leaves so much this round, because I can't get the room cool enough without an AC, and my circuits are overloaded, but some of the buds are still getting some half decent hues going on....

Job interview later tonight. Side dump truck driver lol. Easiest shit in the world. Gravy work. Reeeeal good pay too. Truck drivers are so in demand here, it's ridiculous haha!
Glad I never resigned my Class 1 license. Fingers crossed.

Found out my HLG100 on the right side had a glitchy connection, and my light has been running half power or so for quite some time. I noticed it a long time ago, and thought I fixed it, but it's been glitching again. Touched the connection and there was an immediate increase in intensity....fuuuuuugggg. The buds on the right have suffered because of it, but oh well.

Time to order something to replace it with....KB strip lighting maybe.

But I can't complain about the plant. Still a couple weeks to go and she's popping good.

Just about to come down and be retired from the line-up, and I have no idea why, but this is the first and only time I've seen anything of Zombie Virus lineage throw out hermaphrodites. This is a plant I just call Diesel because its a pheno of Zombie Virus that lacks all the grape/lavender terps, and is nothing but raw fuel tasting, and a much better yielder than ZV.
1626397286105.jpg
1626397342697.jpg

I've put this Diesel pheno, and it's true-breed Zombie Virus sister thru absolute hell over the years, and they've never hermied on me.
I've bent them, broke them, chopped them, waaaaaaay overdosed them, had them recover from cyanobacteria with a full root chopping, you name it. Neither sister has ever hermied. Nothing. Now I keep her perfectly happy, 5.9 pH, 900-1000ppm and she's hermie'ing like crazy. :ummok: Go figure lol!

This Critical Orange Punch is itching to get under the SCROG net once the Diesel is harvested. I swear it smells like orange peels when I rub the stalk, I hope it's not some psycho-sematic brain trickery lol.
This plant is super stacked, and I'm super stoked to see it SCROG'ged. It looks like one hell of a strain, every example I've seen of it.

The 5x3 tent at 6 days flowering.
Left to right:
Lemon OG Kush, Purple Punch, Lemon OG Kush

Finally got the 3" deep Hempy bucket water schedule figured out, then BLAM, they just took off. I even defoliated the crap out of them 4 days before trigger. I see I'll have to do it again .......:)

The Critical Orange Punch, just tied down the other day, in a Rubbermaid full of medium grade perlite.
20210719_061238.jpg
Getting it ready for the SCROG tent, vegging under my KingBrite 4000K panel, but I won't be using an airpump and stones this round.

I wanna see what happens with a giant RubberMaid tub of medium grade perlite, with no assistance. The Rez holds about 1.5 gallons of water.
So far it seems very airy, but at the same time, also retains and wicks water a little better than the larger grades. Perhaps a way to have a "wetter" Hempy medium, without the need to add coco or peat?¿?

20210719_061303.jpg

So the Diesel beast has been untangled from the net-cage, and is now drying in my small 3x2 tent.

The Critical Orange Punch is now in the 2x4 tent, the SCROG net-cage is down until she gets a little bigger. She really is doing very well in a Rubbermaid with 100%, medium grade perlite, no air pump assist this time. Just an oversized, but standard Hempy setup basically.
Short and stacked, so far. The net-cage will get mounted soon.

20210729_063321_HDR.jpg

Much more headspace to work with this SCROG round. I just want to flower it so bad, but I have to wait.....aaaah so painful lol. Good feelings about this round.

20210729_063348_HDR.jpg

My 6x6 tent is stocked up now with 15 new clones, the 5x3 tent is doing well, a couple weeks in. More pics to come later.

Super healthy. Medium grade (pure) perlite, no air pumps, 15 gallon Rubbermaid with 3 gallon overflow. I can't wait for this plant to finish.

The 6x6 is a freakin' jungle and is getting a big pruning tomorrow night. It just exploded after trigger. Gonna be some work lol
