4x2
A week in I think. This girl is sucking back about 1¾-2 gallons per day right now. I can keep it about 1000 ppm safely, no leaf tip burning, healthy supple leaves. The Early Bud additive seems to have given her a nice kick at the beginning of flower.
6x6
In the 6x6, I'm finding with my particular Hempy setup in the 5 gallons (2" drain hole height), I cannot break 900 ppm or I end up with leaf tip burn.
So I've been trying a new watering schedule for a couple weeks now:
Monday - full dose (~850-900ppm w/adds)
Tuesday - half dose (~550-600ppm w/adds)
Wednesday - water (w/carbs, fulvic)
Thursday - full dose
Friday - half dose
Saturday - half dose
Sunday - waterk
* All days have fulvic acid (Royal Gold), B1+ kelp for amino acids and carbohydrates (Carbo-Blast).
Other additives include either Early Bud, Ton O'Bud, or Bud Boom depending on the stage of flower. As well Cal-Max (Grotek), HyShield (liquified shrimp and crab shells), and HydroGuard.
Water days I don't water enough to spill the flow from the drainholes. I water for half the time of feed days, just enough to wet the perlite and fill the rez about half full. I want to keep the buildup down, but also not shock the plants with a massive swing in EC in the medium.
This new approach seems to have stopped the leaf tip burn, but I won't rush to judgement just yet.
Getting stoked to try my Lumatek power wet-trimmer soon!
5x3
Not sure what to think about these 3" deep Hempy's in this tent. I think I screwed up by putting Hydroton in the bottom, up past the top of the drain holes. The Hydroton should have only come down up to the bottom of the drain hole, allowing better wicking by the perlite, or I should have just went with straight perlite to the bottom, no Hydroton.
Trying to keep the pH and salt buildup under control, especially if plants grow at different rates, has been a pain in the butt. And I think it gets a little dry down there for the roots if I don't keep it watered, and alkalinity spikes a little.
The plant on the left is using water quicker, so it tends to end up with a higher salt content, 150-200ppm higher than the other two.
But there is a plus. I can leave the plants for 2 or 3 days and the rezzes don't get stinky at all, so it seems a trade off with these 3" deeps. I have some cuts of the Lemon OG Kush going, and will take some cuts from the centre Purple Punch plant tonight.
This rez problem should go away as soon as the plants get big enough where I have to water every day, but it definitely makes the juvenile stage a little more delicate.
I am thinking I may go with a bubbleponic/Hempy setup (like the 4x2 SCROG) in this tent next round, but we'll see.
