Thanks to some inspiration from @Dino Party, I wanted to do a Miracle-Gro run. I know the soil says it has 6 months worth of food already inside, but I got the fertilizer just in case I run out of gas. Will it work? Hell if I know but I guess we'll see. The bag clearly states that this soil grows plants twice as big, so legally it has to be successful.

I'm still working out the particulars about running multiple plants, side-by-side with same cut in usual setup, etc. If you'd like to join in, feel free to post your MG grow. I'll work out a more fleshed out plan of attack and analyze the nutes to see how it compares to my usual stuff.

I grew my first plants way back when with those exact miracle grow products. It was a very successful Mexican sativa bagseed grow. You'll do just fine. The only issues I had if I remember correctly were N toxicity and some ph issues. Buds were very good though.

Definitely pulling up a chair for this one.

Many people knock it, but it was a miracle back in the day for me and the many who had not many other options. I used predominantly the cacti succulent blend due to the high porosity mixed withg the traditional potting MG soil . Expando Grow they offered around ten years back I tried too. I found with most of ther soils I didnt need feed unless growing larger plants. I know that most of the hate against them is due to their present ties with Monsanto being owned by the Scotts Group, but the truth is even the best little soil producers sooner or later get bought up by the corporate conglameration one way or another. Pretty hard to escape, even mixing your own due to the Peat Industy unless you build with local material and supplies.

SUBBED- Its been around 15 years since I have seen a MG soil grow and I want to see if it still has what it takes and more ;)

My experience with MG was that it worked great as long as you didn't over water, since that "time-release" fertilizer is actually moisture released. Watering too frequently often led to N toxicity or general nute burn.

Ill be happy to watch the grow but I can't participate on principal... the Scott's Corporation is on my bad side at the moment. This article on the CEO is a fascinating read though:

Dude has a custom fighter jet for personal use with a specially designed back seat.... for his German Shepard!

Funny, I didn't read your whole comment first go through so I missed this tidbit, and then I brought that Scott's hate lol... but your 100% right. I've been trying to find bagged soil mixes without peat but it's basically impossible. And there's issues with coco coir manufacturing too... I've just inverted the old saying and decide to go with the devil I don't know vs the one that I do

LoL Same sentiment shared, and I know that feeling all to well.. I don't know what else to do other than use nothing more than local resources including Michigan Peat. But even there the corporate playas aren't something I like to support let alone the destruction of the little remaining peat bogs this state holds in it's natural resources.

I’ll do 4 plants, two clones 2x each, one set in miracle gro, and one set in sunshine #4. Whattya all think, should I bother trying to feed the same to both, or try to tend them all individually?

This will be a cool little experiment. I’ll whip up some “flyers” for this shindig

Now I want to do one like this out in the back yard, maybe grow it right in the bright yellow bag. I love this game. Also, fuck Scott's and all supply-side monopolists. Fuck 'em in the eye.

Over the last two years I've gone from being a Marxist to leaning heavily Anarchist. Anarchism, for the record, is probably not what you think it is. I don't mean anarchy like punk rock, I mean anarchy like Malatesta and Kropotkin...but why in the absolute living fuck would I bring that up?

Because Scott's Fertilizer, Monsanto, and custom fighter jets for dogs are all completely normal symptoms of late stage capitalism.

Yeah, baybeeeee, let's run some MG bitches. Seems like I should run a DP Chuck for this but I need to think about it.

I already did that, in the late '80s!

Dude, you don't have to do that. In fact, I won't let you!
I'm going to buy some more beans at full price, from you and @Amos Otis, to punish you both for being too generous.
