post mites, still out of balance - seeking wisdom

Hey guys Ive been having some issues getting these 2 looking beautiful again after overcoming a mite infestation(sprayed w/neem 3 times)back in July.

Hempy style 5gal drain to waste 100% perlite
tap water ppm@280 I prefill my water container and let the chlorine evaporate a few days in advance
Calmag every 3 feedings or so(i definitely used too much calmag a few months maybe unnecessary w/tap water)
GH grow to about 450-550ppm total usually spitting out 100-200ppm higher than input
~1 cap standard h202 per gallon
ph in: 5.6-5.8 ph out: 5.7-5.9

Plant 3 was transplanted ~2 weeks ago

Should I cut these mite damaged branches off that haven't popped new growth and defoliate all the damaged leaves?

plant 1 10 days ago 7-28A.jpg plant 2 10 days ago 7-28B.jpg

plant 3 10 days ago 7-28C.jpg

plant 1 today 8-7A.jpg

plant 2 today 8-7B.jpg

Do you know spécifiquely what drives up TDS ?
Good old Calcium and Magnesium? Could be randoms messing uptake.
280ppm can be a tough row to hoe.
Does that come out the tap at like, 8 ph ?
What product do you employ to lower the ph that much ?

At any rate , 500 subtracting the tap @ 280 barely gives a feed of 200 ppm.
A well lit plant could handle more. Perhaps a more robust feed would give them a kick in the pants ?

Also,,,
They call mites "the Borg" for a reason.

No shame in starting over.

get a usb microscope 100-1000x ( under 30 bucks for a nice one on Amazon )
good example:
Amazon product

than take some zoomed microscope shots of this damage you think is mite/eggs of the mites

if you do find pest/eggs Than send us a few pictures
after that than to get a bug expert confirm what it is
send info@evergreengrowers.com a email and ask for a pest ID confirm and a ipm suggestion/solution . It’s never good to generalize what bugs are cause many species aren’t pest and many pest families or genetics require specific actions to do a proper IPM . Plus so many look so similar, sometimes it takes the experts on getting a 100% confirm what bug it is.

example of cannabis damage from two spot mite:

top of leaf

under the leaf view, eggs and mite:

if mite, the pest should be under the leaf , if two spot mite or similar species, it will show small dots, and def specific to mite damage vs thrips and other pests. When taking pictures please take damage of leaf onto[ and under the leaf . Normally Inless whole plant is infected they start on bottom . I would suggest to take the leaf off the plant to get a easy examine and ID if you find any bugs

if it is a pest, I’m sure we can help ya with a good IPM as well, just good to get the first steps and confirm before the pest could be a real bad issue !

I would take cuts of what’s healthy and start over. Hopefully someone else has better answers
Shoot I hope I can save atleast plant 2, it doesnt look so bad from my eyes. The 1st has been mostly eradicated by that borg so maybe I scrap it but I was planning on a serious prune for some redemption(maybe just futile wishes). I had made a few clones of them both just in case and to choose whichever is my preference after harvest ideally. I'll prob cut a few more now.
Ugh i feel like laughing and crying

I haven't had the water analyzed. I should call and see if theres a current test, nothing posted online.
After a few days, the tapwater stabilizes to 8 ph from about 7.5-7.7. Dropping about 20ppm from 300 to 280.
I'm using "Bluelab ph down 35% w/phosphoric acid" and am nearing the end. I would switch on a recommendation.

I will try an extra 100-150ppm nutes(right before I noticed the mites it seemed to spit out much more when going higher than where Ive been feeding now, prob from the damage but I thought it was getting burned or a lockout at first sight so been keeping it low)

Thank you for the encouragement, I'm praying I can have this as a notch on the club kind of thing and if needed 1 day swing that knowledge around to help others as well

Been using this as my ph down soluction and way more cost effective than any hydro store brand

BH you bring up some solid points. Proper identification for treatment is essential.
I will grab pics of the damage tomorrow but the mites are gone from inside at least I pray.

There are 3 other lower probability yet potential variables but I'd put my $ that I brought some twospot mites or a similar broad species mite in from my vegetable crops outside. Im growing a large amount of 3 new varieties of vegetables outside and the bugs have been horrendous. I now know theyre prone to spider mites and its been a battle to rid the outside plants.

*I specifically recall one time going from garden to tent. I now shower and change clothes after being in the garden before entering the tent*

I initially noticed the damage which eventually looked identical to ur 1st pic. First noticed the bugs it was topside and I thought aphids maybe. They were dark and larger than my knowledge at the time of mites.
After some research and finding the same on about 50% of my 50 vegetable plants outside, squishing them, seeing some webbing, and the eggs light green/yellowish eggs I treated for broad mites.
I sprayed EVERWHERE(plants-leaves-branches, tent, fans, duct, lights, around/adjacent a bit)with neem since theyre veg still. 70% Concentrated - 9 tsp diluted to 1 gallon of water. 1 of the times I used slightly over a half gallon.
1st spray - waited 4 days after seeing more mites I resprayed
2nd spray - waited 7 days and saw what looked like mostly all dead mites and eggs
3rd spray - this was about a month ago back in July and I havent seen any inside since but Ill get pics and a good look tomorrow with pics

a great IPM is the key in all factors of gardening. More ive Learned about ipm more I realized how blind I was for asking for issues or things just asking to happen .

the prevention and having good safety and quality control fixes and conquers such issues even if occur.

great mite thread and pest management . Great info!

I got hard water, and I grew my share of rusty plants.

I wonder if my hydroponic nutes act as a buffer, and keep the brew palatable. Seems when I flinch and back off, it can all go to hell quickly.
Almost like I am starting with something that is bad,,, the more juice I add- the more unbad the water becomes.

What works for me may not work for you. Every garden is different.
At the the end of the day: light drives photosynthesis , and it is a weed ?
You got this.
Blast it with light and grow some flowers!

I had set damaged leaves aside 10 days ago but didnt get pics before they shriveled up....(I'm b
awful about saying i'd do something tomorrow, then not doing it).

I do still have mites(pretty sure thats what this is), I just found a few active on my girl and may try to upload a video. Have to hit them with neem again but I may need a different approach if I can confirm its something specific. Ill be spending tonight on IPM management education.

theres some pixel loss here but you should be able to make out legs. The last photo I can see what looks like eyes or the face having a whitish colored band like a raccoon. You should be able to make out the legs in several photos but you can definitely see it moving around the leaf with vigor. Top side shows the damage in its semi-beginning state prior to chlorosis really taking ahold

I can tell you from my experience with mites...
I grew for 25-30 years and never got mites until I took in a clone and it jumped quarantine and ruined me at a bad time...that was years ago and then last was like 2 yrs ago...they appeared out of no where and refused to leave...I had to get rid of most everything as by the time they spin webs your fans have spread them everywhere from the rope you hang your light from to the air scrubber etc...every crack nook etc where they can lay dormant until your next grow must be cleaned or replaced.

I wonder where they are hiding. This is near 1 month from my last neem spray. Ill just have to keep on it or up my IPM game. Maybe bleach everything non organic?
