🔥Freak Genetics🔥
DJ Short's Blueberry, transplanted a couple days ago, is already looking fatter.
The color in the center is encouraging, considering it has been warm at night.
Perhaps Blueberry is one of the purples that is genetic rather than brought on by cold?

mmmmm peas, cant wait for mine to start coming in. Looking great in here, how is that Mendo Hashplant coming along? sounds killer! love me some hashplant dad crosses.
I went home and checked the Mendo HashPlants, the deer got two and I had already pulled the males.
The Mendo HashPlants were the first males in the garden to show sex.
Sorry, no pollen this year!
I have 6 more seeds, so if you remind me in Spring next year (2022), I will try to get some pollen to you, as I plan to germinate the other 6 seeds next year...
I am pulling all the males except the Tashkurgan, doing a heirloom grow.
I want to keep the Tashkurgan pure heirloom, so the males from all the other strains are getting pulled as soon as they show. I usually keep a few males from different strains, but I want to be sure of no possibility of any stray pollen this season.
I should have some '(Mendo Purps x 88G13/HP) x Tashkurgan' seeds later this fall, if you would like some of those.

Thank-you for the suggestion! Always open to new ways!
I will check those out. I need to be cautious as I have a lot of wild bees.
I have also noticed that the aphids go for the softer plants first, the plants that I have used the most nitrogen on. I used more nitrogen this Spring than I usually do...
I had aphids on one plant last year and recently watched a video that they prefer high nitrogen. I was wondering how to use this to lure them from there to a even higher n rich area. Probably just end up making a perfect breeding ground and then be over run by them lol. Do you rotate between sprays or just use neem oil?

I was watching a future cannabis podcast and one dude said he put some sort of nitrogen fixing plant (crimson clover maybe?!?)in a corner and all the aphids flocked to it. He burned the plant when it was infested

I usually just use neem, until it warms up and the natural predators show up.
I also try to use just enough nitrogen, though this year I am so trying to be impressive that my plants are way too green!

That sounds like it might work. The aphids are gone now, and they left the snow peas alone...
I got them knocked down and they haven't come back yet.

Some of the first Tashkurgans planted in the ground last Spring.
before wrapping...

The plant I nicknamed "Happy" is second from the left.
The tops of the second batch of Tashkurgan seeds I started are visible in the bottom of the image. Recently planted out, I'll post an image once they start to take hold. I like smaller plants, they don't need as much care. Usually I can get away with only staking smaller plants without doing any wrapping.

These three Tashkurgan plants are doing the best of any plants in the garden. They definitely need wrapping!
