A Cabinet, a Closet, and a Table walk into a bar...

So previously the cells had been getting 1500mL daily. Agsil foliar constantly. Aloe, Agsil, coconut, and Fulpower on days 1 and 2. Day 3 they didnt seem to need water, so I hit them with 1500mL Agsil and water only, on day 4.

Brings us today, day 5. Corn is nearly ready, I am going to blend up 7g malted barley by Briess and start that bubbling soon, itll get about 4hrs of bubble. I guess sometime after 4hrs it goes off and becomes a herbicide... Similar goes for the corn, I dont bubble the corn for more than 20 minutes or so, just enough to mix it. I'll blend and add that to the bubble in around 3hrs 40mins. This will be the first time using corn/barley SST on plants this young. I did a 4x concentration on some fresh rooted clones a few weeks ago as a test, and they didnt show severe adverse effects, so we'll see what happens. This 1500mL of solution will have added to it another 500mL of filtered water before application.

Blended this sprouted corn...

Into this slurry...
IMG_20210107_170127.jpg

Then mixed it with the malted barley that had been bubbled for about 3.5hrs (wet 42g of mung beans for the plants in flower, for 3gal of solution; I also prepared another 7g of corn).

Pre wet the soil surface with Agsil solution, then watered 50mL into each cell.

Also increased the power consumption of the light from 70w to 75w. Kept the height the same, 8".

33hrs after the corn slurry (Tray pics). Noticed a touch of light burn so dropped it back down to 70w.

They need water right now, not sure what I want to hit them with... Filtering water as I type this.

Still waiting on corn, but this mung is about to get blended and put into 3 gallons of water, then itll get fed to the Cab and Clos.

Didnt know what to hit them with today... Hit em with some Real Growers Recharge. This is a product I want to get rid of, IN MY OPINION the Rootwise Trio crushes Recharge when you look at the numbers. I'll use it while I have it,and Id recommend it to friends and family looking for an easy route to flower... But to the breeders Id say Rootwise > Recharge. Ill do some head to heads here in a week or so. Rootwise v. Recharge. Ran out of time, please forgive lights out + flash

So after the last round of waterings, a few of them, mostly the Anvils showed signs of overwatering. I kicked up the room fan, and by this morning they look to be on the mend. The Cowpots/Fertilpots are nice because they dry out so quickly, but... They dry out so quickly.

Here are the last tray shots before I remove the empty cells, and sticks some clones in them to see how clones do the Cowpots. I had originally thought to up pot them at 10 days, here they are at 8 from emergence. Unsure what I want to do, and when.

Trimming 2x Barney's Farm Peyote Critical indoor clones from the outdoor I started back last April. These got stuffed in between 4 other plants and neglected. No defol, no training, no topping, no support, nothing other then water/feed. When I pulled them out they flopped over, not journaled here, but more room for these next autos! Oh yea, and my first chuck. Barney's Farm Peyote Critical x "Mr. Iyotu" (my first flowered male from a 10x bag / unlabelled seed run, documented elsewhere).

Alright, it's done.
IMG_20210113_220840.jpg

9 on the left are the JEM
9 on the right are the Anvil (need to water the last 6 - waiting on the filter to do its thing)
2 small in the center are JEM I think I will run straight into 3 gallons (Radicle vs Root Pouch)
2 large in the center are the Canna-cheese in the same 1 gallon of soil, in a 1 gallon Radicle Bag and a 2 gallon Root Pouch

Raised the ChilLED Tech X1 Veg Commercial to 20" from pot edge. I increased the draw from 70w to 120w.

So I mixed some additional goodies into a 1.5ft³ bag of EB Stone Recipe 420 potting soil, it's my go to bagged soil - it's localish and has performed passably for me in the past. Better than a lot of others Ive ran it against, thats neither here nor there, to it I added the following....

1/2 cup Endo Ecto Mycos
1 cup BAS Craft Blend
2 cups Briess Malted Barley (prior to blending)
8 cups BAS Insect Frass
8 cups BAS Worm Castings
16 cups Bu's Compost

Had the wife mix it up and bless it, she's into that business, it's a first for me but let's roll with it. Tasked her with giving them 400mL of Recharge, with 1/3 diluted (poor planning on my part - didnt sprout 21g, only had 7g ready) corn SST, with whatever blended malted barley stuck to the blender.

In regard to the Cowpots in this grow, I have much to say. I wouldnt use the 3" again, certainly not in a cold dry climate, with a heating mat. I worry that my root zones have not stayed at optimal moisture despite near daily watering of 50mL. They are also an additional cost, which I acknowledged going into this grow, however being able to run the light at such low draw... I also question the disturbance to the plants, I was still putting pressure on the sides while positioning and settling the soil in the new pots. There's more data to process but initially the 3" Cowpots for me are a no go for autos, they arent big enough to get me to sex, and they dry out quicker than Id like for such time sensitive plants, forgiving with over watering however and it was nice to be able to get an even canopy height despite them emerging and stretching slightly differently, I can now observe how they grow differently from here.

The 6" Cowpots seem much more suited to this task. I dont have the actual full experience of them, but if asked today what size Id look to self or hunt autos in Cowpots, Id start with the 6" Cowpots/Fertilpots.

Transplanted the last 2x JEMs into the same set up as the 2x Canna-cheese. Id love it if I lucked out and got a got anything other than 2 males for these final up potted JEMs.
IMG_20210114_142409.jpg

And of course the Canna-Cheese...
IMG_20210114_142401.jpg

With the remaining 18x Im looking to cull all males but the 1x of each (Anvil & JEM) chosen to self, then into 2 gallon pots they go.

Ill hit them with EM-5 later, and crank the light to the full 170w draw.

Everybody looks happy. 13 days since they broke the surface.

Ive had some minor concern over getting this grow right, it a "high dollar" project for me (largest count yet as well, with some unproven but theoretically sound grow spaces) in a public space surrounded by people I admire and respect. Over the years Ive journalled a couple grows on a couple other canna forums, but not until arriving here and interacting with folks like... Well to be honest nearly everyone I have exchanged words or ideas with here on PH, have I felt like part of a larger community with like minded goals, without the pettiness and pride that pervades many public spaces.

Getting to this point with this grow feels like a small milestone to me. Now that they are in larger volumes of soil I feel a little more at ease, when they were in the 3" pots I was worried they didnt maintain the root zone moisture levels I was going for. Additionally now that I know how many plants I have to select from, I feel a sense of relief. Not knowing if I was going to have 22x or 28x to try to manage.

I appreciate those of you Ive had the privilege of interacting with, and look forward to getting to know the rest of you. Thanks for stopping by.
