I use a Gamo piston break action in 177 caliber on varmints in back. With the scope it is deadly on them. One caution is if you have a bad shoulder it is hard to cock those guns. The neighbors Wifey doesn't like me shooting tree rats so I live trapped them and drowned them. When she asked what I was doing , I just told her I was teaching them to swim. LOL

This is the one that I use and I can take out a rabbit or squirrel from 30 yards no problem, it sits by my back garage door my first year here I got 12 rabbits the past like 3 years I’ve gotten 2 or so each year

They are definitely "drama queens" about getting shot lol. My mom quit hunting in the late seventies because of one.
Meh, squirrels are tree rats and I treat them accordingly (no mercy).

I ended up ordering the Umarex Syrix from Amazon for $88.67 -- which is a smoking good deal w/free delivery (and returns).
But I've got a feeling that Amazon is going to flake and eventually cancel my order.
It's a bold prediction, but I've seen this before...
Right after I placed my order, the price went up to $109 and it hasn't shipped after 24+ hrs.

We shall see. I don't trust those fuckers after they jacked me on a huge bag of crab meal...

The pellets actually arrived today, go figure.
I did a lot of research and ended up buying the cheapest pellets on the market (Crosman Premier hollow point) -- and it was because they have a decent ballistic coefficient.

If I want to go with something faster with the same BC, the 'GTO Domed Alloy' looks good. Unfortunately it's also expensive AF...

Very cool! Hope it comes quick. No matter what you shoot that squirrel with he's fuct. I personally only shot them with BB but I think that lead would do more damage and less likely to ricochet. I would love to use pellets. I just would have to load each one individually.

So, because I don't like wasting a kill, there's a lot of options with a Squirrel:

Eat it. That's probably a good option but not everyone wants to try it.

Open it up and add some hooks to it; you can catch Musky, Pike, Catfish and Salmonids / Trout using that

Clean out the edible meat and use the guts for Fish, or, drain the blood into soil and bury the meaty bits.

@Meatman

I'd have paid money to see that shit lol. The Cat tried bringing a flying Squirrel in the house she caught at 2 AM.... Wife shut the door in time, and I had to go out there and get the Cat and hold her while a still living flying Squirrel ran up the side of the house....

Squirrel meat is tough so I bet they stay on the hook.

They actually have repeaters with magazines now but the cheaper ones can be a bit wonky. They are picky about pellet length, and from what I've read, some of them can damage the skirts during loading.
The Gamo 3rd generation looks decent but they're expensive, of course.

This may explain why the velocity ratings are so fucky!

Those crossman hollow points actually suck.......you'll have squirrels walking away or dragging themselves away. Keep them for practice and get some pointed pellets.

I have a 22 cal break over. Them big slow bastards make a thud when they hit when using hollow points....Not extremely ideal...These however are nasty. You can hear the difference when they hit Screenshot_2023-02-06-09-43-47-102.jpg Screenshot_2023-02-06-09-43-07-161.jpg
