American Big Bud Strain Information

huge plants are (hopefully) getting a real chance to express themselves, instead of being restricted by space, lighting, nutrients, and mainly other plants. i personally love to run huge singles at home, point being 1 of my honkers will typically always have more potent flower than if i grew 5 of the same in same space. same yield, sometimes more.

same bud of mine who has the headband from 90s also has skunk #1 being preserved at a research facility, plus SSH. same time frame, so the skunk should be "his" skunk that we all coveted back then. trying like hell to get my hands on all of the genes he's got. im in queue, and will be happy to share if and when.

I'm mostly outdoors but I do still have to fit them in an area so they aren't so visible, which normally isn't an issue, and even though they're in pots generally, I use 10, 15, and a 25 gallon pot, which has big enough holes in the bottom for roots to grow out of the pot and into the ground, giving them a good stretch.

Side branches are removed at times so they aren't squeezed in hitting each other, but like you said; when they have room and a good environment, they'll go off in a big way which is awesome :)

Man if you manage to get that Skunk, put me down as wanting to know how it smells lol.

I grew a few big bud a couple years back. It was fun , big yeilds . I wanted something old school and ended up going with critical Kush but. Those profiles are so nostalgic. Definitely an enjoyable smoke.
same here many years ago Big Bud was the "shit" - Yea ! it's a good all-a-round strain !!! all comes down to genetics and the Grower I presently have 2 - 5 gallon (Szeet Zanity & Di-so- V2 and 3 - 3 gallon Zweet OG / Forbidden Friut and Mind Melter in an 3by3 It's going to be a massive yield (defoliation is necesary for this space) and have quality smoke, last time tried an extra 3 gallon BUT it was too much for that small space. Giving that the average plant needs 2.5 ft to grow indicates that space in important - growing methods use in the 3by3 _LST /SCROG/ defoliation -- Note also good "innoculant" is important

subcool used to do single plants indoors that yielded over a pound regularly, just giving the plants ample root zone space and more food, plus the amended soil.

the funny thing about the skunk is, when i reconnected with this guy we figured out that most all his big runs were skunk #1, and he only did one run of sour d. meaning my memories of this gassy nasty loud "diesel" was majority his skunk:stoned:

You know, when I first started getting serious about Cannabis, and reading what genetics were used in my favorite strains, and, of course, trying to see why I liked those ones so much more than everything else, I eventually started reading how the guy who apparently bred Skunk did it, and it seemed to me that, it's very likely, somewhere in Chemdog, is Skunk (This is only a guess based on pungency and bud structure though) but for some reason, I'm not that shocked to hear a Skunk is capable of producing a gassy aroma.

I may not have been around for the early 80s to try actual Skunk, but being how I am with Cheese, I've grown a lot of Skunk based strains, and there's always a massive bud structure, lots of production, and of course, those WONDERFUL smells :)

A single plant in a huge tent is something I can see easily producing; I did an experiment the year before last where I had this Sativa leaner called "Hawaiian Sunshine", and I grew her sideways and let her take over a half side of a 20 foot long Greenhouse. I also couldn't burn her ass even on purpose... Double dosed Nutrients, + extra nutes (Instead of every week, two or 3 times a week, sometimes double dose each time) not a single spot of Nutrient Burn... LOL. But with a good sized pot for roots to have room, and a good canopy system, I feel like that is totally doable.

Man I hope you get those LOL. I wanna know how it smells!

should be in touch with at least my guy soon, then hopefully he can get a care pack together for me from the facility connect. sounds like the G13 heist, but perfectly above board.

when i had larger spaces indoors to work with (entire floors, basements, etc), I still kept my plant counts down low. partially because of my locale and the additional time, at the time. partially because i noticed the flower collected from my larger hogs and individual runs was always of better quality, more resinous especially. i've never been interested in large production style growing anyway, just want top shelf flower and custom-tailored genetics primarily.

i dunno. i have a definite case of perma-OCD/perfectionism. when i have large plant counts or running line work, I just start seeing imperfections everywhere. that aside, figure main cola vs popcorn bottom branchers, and apply the same logic to your plant counts and training. i've never subscribed to the "more plants more product", rather the complete opposite.

mycotek is a good example of this. his plants are very spaced out, "low" counts, and lollypopped/defoliated very heavily, leaving only main colas after topping/training to bamboo stakes. all top shelf flower. compare that to trimming down many more smaller plants with smaller colas and popcorns everywhere. more work less dank. how bout nooooooo:lazycouchlock:

I sometimes leave my "secondary branches" (Anything not connected to the main stalk) but it's a lot easier to deal with a bunch of weed when it's ALL tops and colas. I can trim out a huge bud a LOT faster than I can a bunch of Popcorn, those are hand cramp nuggets LOL. I don't defoliate as much, but being outdoor, I don't really have to either, as Sunlight penetrates a lot better, but yeah anything super low, even if it does get light, it still ends up getting in the way and not allowing good air flow, which, in my climate is required to keep the bud rot at bay.

Man, if you pop those once they have a stem..... LOL :)

the air flow with Big Bud, GDP and most any dense flower i run is a must here as well. The last Eternal Purple run i did was very GDP dom, at least one of the examples. had to give her space, despite being a small plant, and defoliated pretty heavily. reposted pic but you can see how tightly i trimmed it as well

appreciate it. noticing you and i get off on tangents and just take threads elsewhere lol. hope im remaining pertinent:stoned:

I need to watch that honestly; I've noticed lately I keep on going off the rails and I don't need to be Ozzy all day LOL. You seen that what's on your mind thread? We can do it on that one LOL.

I gotchyou bro:

That's the "talk about whatever you like" thread LOL. But yeah I tend to go off on a tangent or, off in my head about some subject a single post makes me think of, and by the end of it I'm like "Ah shit...." LOL. It's not even intentional but I do need to put more effort into not doing that anyway. Personally I don't have the chat turned on simply because when it is, it makes my screen on my phone difficult to use, but that thread is an easy to bullshit in one. I also have a Cheese thread, and a Chemdog thread too as those are my main interests in cannabis....That may not be a secret though LOL.
