Aphids

Figured outdoor growing would be a good place to post this. So I always figured aphids loved weed but seems they love what we do to it, by giving it nitrogen. It brings me to last summer. I had tons of aphids on my plants and around it. My plants sit right out my backdoor and living in the country it's one of my pissing spots....kind of makes since. So what if we over fed nitrogen to a area away from our plants? Gave them something better? Not sure on that but still a interesting video. He has a lot of neat tidbits in his videos.

Aphid population can be explosive. Capt Jack's Dead Bug. Spray at about 5 wks and just before flip. Spray at lights off. They can ruin a whole crop.

Over the summer on IG, I saw someone that had pumpkins planted in the same bed as their cannabis plants. The pumpkin leaves were covered in aphids and not one aphid on his ganja! His hypothesis was the aphids liked the pumpkin more…..which, in turn made it easier to treat them. I don’t fully understand what he did for a treatment, but I think it was water ph’d to an acidic level. Killed them overnight.

The problem is there are aphids who prefer weed. Cannabis aphid

I read that egg shells will keep slugs and snails out and tried it. Adject failure. Aphids are nasty creatures who can do a lot of damage and do not taste well in your smoke😉
I didn't say egg shells champ. I said banana peels and orange peels. The only way to know is to try it. I'll give it a go and let you know my outcome. Added benefit is banana breaking down underneath plant is potassium..... I'll take that added benefit everyday of the week. Yes I know ipm sprays are great. I use an essential oil one. However like everything in life nowadays, I look for the root of the problem and eliminating that before chasing solution. Sort of like learning to cross road so you don't get hit instead of working out which hospital and doctor you have paid for to fix you. Let us know how you go with your aphid problem. I'll trial this aphid deterrent shortly and let everyone know results. My kids go through bunches of bananas weekly so the supply on my end is always there.

Bit of companion plant permaculture style. I like it

Yes, but my point was I've heard a lot of bs. I know it was bs cause I tried it. I did it. I buried the cups and added a little stale beer while the bastards laughed all the way to my seedling😥

I've tried so much horseshit you can't believe. How about milk for aphids🤣 if you don't mind the rancid milk smell that is.

Aphids are a royal pain in these parts. Once the girls foliage starts fading the aphid population explodes. I also have to deal with scale. Add in moth larva and I gotta use something and this stuff does the trick.

Ps, I could have stated ot better to begin with and ment no disrespect. Apologies for coming off that way😘

No sweat mate, no offence taken. As I said I'll run them and give them a try. I have a big enough sample plot outdoors to trial sections and see the outcome. I'll post out my outcomes. I think the key with this treatment would be fresh peels weekly. That's not a problem on my end. What have you decided to use instead or in the meantime
