Best irrigation set up

QC3

Hey you guys! I know it’s been a while since I’ve last been on but I’ve been dealing with quite a bit. As of recently I’ve decided to go full force with my indoor cultivation and am curious about what might be the best set up for drip irrigation and or what’s the best set up period for yield/variety. If anyone has any answers or could help me out I would greatly appreciate it!!

what’s the best set up period

That would be you, and the hours you spend in your garden.
You are the plants greatest asset.

A plant needs to veg and a plant needs to flower for a finite amount of time.
No way around that.
Yes, there are ways to make plants grow faster, and ways to make plants grow bigger; however: at the end of the day a certain amount of canopy area can only be filled with so many buds. One plant can fill a 4x4 tent -or you may choose to plant them at 30 per square meter.

I know that is kind of generic, but the best answer is the one that keeps you closest to the middle of the road.
That's where you want to be.
The right environment carries more weight than anything else.

Do you have a journal going, where I could read more about your space ?

If I was trying to sell you drip irrigation I would ask you questions like :
why are you interested in this system ?
What do you need it to do for you?
What do you like about it? What do you not like about it?
What features does it need to have?
What features are a deal breaker?

I unfortunately do not keep a journal although I am about to start one with this set up so I guess it’s perfect for the situation. I am mostly looking for a way to get the best results for a pheno hunt and still pull down a suitable amount of flower for the time put in. Now I know that I’m not going for yield in pheno hunts but I think I’m looking for the best possible base to build from so therefore there’s simplicity in tending to each strain as needed.

Thank you for the feedback it definitely is going to help me from now out, as well as me keeping a journal from now on. I have been slacking in the journaling and i need to pick it up again.

There are 2 systems i have used and still like.

Autopots. Not the same as an auto irrigation except...it is. A tank fed system that bottom feeds through capilary action...planters come in 4g and 7g size (litres converted...and their planters are actual..so like a trade 4 g and 7g exactly).
The new system uses a 9mm line (i have the 6mm lines or 1/4 they clogged in the past but i pool shock sterile and its working GREAT).

And floraflex. I think they are the best system...the most adapatable system for whatever you desire.

Flower 1/2 gallon planters in cuts right on to auto feed 10 gallon planters....rockwool....coco...soil...ANY SUBSTRATE... all that is requird is a wicked good pump (fancy math to determine if its over many ports).
They make a 6 x 6 x 6 inch pot that is 1/2 gallon...right up to a 5 gallon bottom feed planter system.

What do you want it to do....and check out their website.

And their rooters...they are the BEST in the game PERIOD..... probably the only one i ever could consistantly cut...dip poke...roots in 10 days :D
ROOTS...got to plant em.

They have a guide on how to max out your space...i read it.... if i really wanted to rock it... man that 8 X 5 gallon system over a 4 x 8...WOW...

But ....I am retired and hand watering is one of the great joys of gardening...you can see what is going on down low....talk to them....its not a machine....

But ...BUT.... holy shit if i maxed it all out how many pounds would that month be ? November was the first time i passed 2 pounds in 1 month...and December is starting with a dryer full...and 3 repeats this month... i think i can best the 2 with another :D

To max out my carry limit with a month...of growing.... Well that is the next pinacle.... I will come up with more....

:D

The beauty of floraflex is...they make top feed...spike feed..bottom feed.

1/2 gallon 1 gallon 6 inch pots... 1 and 2 g 8 inch pots square OR use coco...use 4/6/8 inch rockwool...

OR bottom feed....Like seeeds LOVE...3s or 5 gs.

For on the cheap..hydroreds old flood and drain totes...work AWESOME.... I have 1 converted to floraflex i will try..on the next batch of testers. fems make it possible

DTW coco in 1 gal. fabric pots. Water to runoff.
Jacks 321 fertilizer
Nearpow seconds timer
1/2” pvc pipe
1/2” t’s
1/2” 90’s
Orbit manifolds (8 port has flow adjustment)
1/4 hose
500 gph pump?

Build a pvc loop with stub ups, depending on plant count. Watering rings are nice, I made some out of 5/16 hose.

If I did f&d, I would use plastic pots and hydroton.

Floraflex is ok, but if you want easy and great results go with Netafim. If I had the space that's how I'd go. We just switched everything from floraflex to Netafim at a big grow I help at and it's amazing. No more clogging heads or drippers that aren't getting the same pressure.

Thank you so much this insight was very helpful, I have been looking into floraflex as my option although I wanted to get an opinion on them as a whole company is it worth it? And from what I’ve heard I think it would be more than perfect for what I am trying to do with my garden. I do love hand watering and taking a peek cleaning her up, but at the same time I’m looking to hunt more to find something I like to then make something I like ?. All in all I think I am going to go with floraflex in my flower room but instead of rockwool I’ll probably use that coco and peat/perlite mix in smaller pots, and once I’ve found what I like for me I’ll probably just transfer to the rockwool to steer my crops better!! Thank you so much I appreciate the words I’ll definitely check out the link you sent as well

It really depends what you're gonna do. Drip line works great for clones but not so much for seeds. I'm playing around with flood tables right now and am not hating it.
Okay this really helped with that because I do plan to run from seed on this hunt so instead of drip lines and uneven watering you suggest flood tables and I like that idea I can still run coco and also give each plant what it’s asking for (for the most part) to in turn give me the more optimal outcome

So the floraflex drippers have bottom fed as well that’s awesome, what about individual needs on the plant like drinking is it easy to adjust in case different plants want different amounts of water ?

Putting this all in the notes! Thank you I think I will try the DTW this round.

I was doing some research on netafim and was hearing nothing but positive things I was very interested I think when I have everything dialed in I will make the jump to something like that because they do have some nice technology behind their products. I do like the DTW idea for the pheno hunt tho on elevated trays made from 2x4

You won't be disappointed when you switch over. If you have the space for a rez and somewhere to let the runoff drain to it's great. Here's a pic of the one I just setup. Uppotted one day and put new lines in the next. IMG_20221202_123333390_HDR.jpg IMG_20221202_123352805_HDR.jpg

Look like you have the info you need, I don't have the funds for that fancy stuff but I do run a DIY dripper setup...here's a couple pics...I can offer more info, all the specs are in first post of my journal HERE

Best of luck with your choice...heard nothing but good about Netafim...no drippers here, straight 1/8" airline tubing for feed lines
