Im looking to buy a good but affordable vaporizer. Im not talking about those little shit piles for flavored juices, I mean a real vaporizer like the "Volcano" or something along those lines.
I'd like mine to have a digital temp readout as well. What should I get and how much is it?

already have good experiences with the retailer

Ha, what a difference a couple days makes re previous good experiences with the retailer.

I tried to make the purchase. First the weasel tried slipping in shipping charges after advertising free shipping. So I emailed again, and they re-invoiced. I tried making an e-payment, sent it off, but retailer didn't like the way it was sent because it may take a couple days for the transfer to complete, told me to resend by a different method. I told them I would when I could verify that they had refused the first payment.

I looked around while I waited and found the same unit for almost $35 less from a reputable dealer. It's been bought, paid for, and picked up by Canada Post.

Sneaky Pete/Vape North, you can kiss my ass.

Just made the order. Read enough decent reviews and already have good experiences with the retailer so I'm pretty confident.

Not to sure about that cotton wicking system for concentrates... but would like to see what that heating chamber is looking like when ya get it in... Strange I have never come across this unit before in all my searching... this thing looks sick .

I'm pretty excited. Fast heating, good battery life, big bowl, and huge rips all sound good. I have minor concerns about draw resistance, but have already found possible hacks/workarounds if I find that is an issue. I don't do concentrates as I love my flower, so that is not an issue for me.

Tentative delivery is next Thursday from the Maritimes(you know, Toronto? :devilish:) so hopefully there are no further 2020 Fuckery related delays.

CFX arrived today. It went through a couple cycles on high with an empty chamber to burn off any nasty stuff and I've just finished a couple bowls. (One was L13 White Wolf and the other has slipped my medicated brain already, some JOTI kush maybe?)

Initial impression is very positive. It is solid, charges quickly with the AC charger, gets up to temp in around 15 seconds and delivers big rips. Draw resistance is not an issue.

I've only owned this thing for a few hours, so I'll hold off on any conclusions for a week or two. If it treats me as well as my 4+ year old Arizer Air, I will be very pleased.

Cool! What temp settings have you been liking so far ?
Like I said, it's only been a few hours. Give me some time to speak with any authority, but I've been staying between about 368 and 380 F. I'm able to get nice clouds with no scorched throat or coughing.

I'm all about metric as a rule, but I switched the display over to dinosaur units because they allow even tighter temp control.(with 1 degree increments C=182 possible settings vs 330 using F. Range is 100°F-430°F/37.8°C-221.1°C). I doubt it will make any real world difference but who knows?

The mighty is awesome. You will find your CFX just as awesome

This is my experience with the Mighty. Your mileage may vary.

195C is a pretty awesome spot for the vape. Clouds form nice. Not too hot and you get a good stone on.
200C is cooking things...might set off an alarm...stone is getting more bakey
205C. Big solid doob clouds of vape...sometimes i forget i turned it on and put it in my pocket until it buzzes off on the next load...so 1 load and baked.
210C. This is where i put hash...BIG FAT CLOUDS...COUGH COUGH COUGH...is it healthy....Nope...but its the most super efficient hash burning machine in the world. Pea sized balls you can smoke on for 2 charges...WTF.

I dont know below that because...it goes to 11

Thanks for those temps, @OldG, much appreciated. Some guidance is always nice when dealing with something new.
Are you just dropping the hash as a chunk in the main chamber? Or do you use some kind of concentrate holder and/or crumble it up? I have a bunch of hash I pressed using kief from the trim bin and it would be cool to vape it rather than smoke the dirty ol' stuff (I've become such a flower snob :LOL:).

It came with a little steel cup for hash. I found its best to get it a little finer but some hash i have is too gooey to do that. it might take a while to get it going but then you can smoke it for 20 minutes :D

if there is no cup i would use a blob to make it easier to remove.
Currently vaping some kief in the concentrate chamber at 205C. Not a lot of flavour but pretty good clouds and no coughing so far.

Finished it off. Kief was evenly coloured and seemed done. Looking forward to trying some hash.

Other than a couple hits off the dynavap, I've only been using the CFX since it arrived. Still really enjoying it and have been working on dialing in the temp. I'm finding I want a couple degrees less than OG's 195C, likely due to the superior cooling on the Mighty.

The main reason for this post is regarding the efficiency of the heating on the CFX. It was originally marketed as all convection before being proven as having a lot of conduction heating. Regardless, I'm impressed at the consistency of the AVB colour. With the Arizer, unless on the lowest temps, the AVB tends to be blackened closer to the heating element and lighter further away. The CFX produces a nice golden brown, top to bottom and side to side.

A hot dynavap through water can still provide bigger hits, but only one or two before reloading, with the need to reheat between hits. The convenience of the CFX is awesome. Ready in a hurry, big hits, and the bowl/chamber is truly huge; ten minutes of constant hitting on a less than full bowl and I'm still exhaling significant vapour.

The primary question remaining to be answered is the durability/reliability of the unit. That will obviously take a few months (or less if it turns out to be crap).

I am finding in my unit i will start at 370 F and work my way up the scale as i go. When i think it is close to done i might go as high as 390 F. I wish i could go as warm as @OldG but the old lungs just won't take it. I have never tyied hash in my unit but sometimes i do make a sandwich with some keif in the middle. Hard to kill that bowl ;)

190C = 375F
195 = 385
200 = 392
205 = 400
210 = 410

it can go lower than that allegdly..but it doesnt get me high like 190 195 to 210 which is the limit...they were thinking about me ripping 240C hash bong rips...Thank you storx you crazy bastards brought me here and are still looking after me...

My mighty must be Canadian or something its in Celcius. Who gives a fuck let it rip eh...

The numbers are for easier conversion so we each know what we are talking about. I actually learned imperial measure until grade 5 i think when metric took over so i know conversions....really well.

But nothing sucks balls as hard as a long trip in the USA...its 120...i can get there i 1 hour...wait a minute that is not clicks...

I would be surprised if the mighty was not capable of displaying F or C. I had to go print a conversion chart the other day so i could convert the Celsius numbers you guys were speaking of.

I am firmly in the i dont care about the scale once i lock it in...i know it in those numbers now..
but i have some gut issues that require a DENSE stone...dailiy...this morning i felt great but i wanted to smoke a doob for the first time in a while :D Amazing morning !

I also like my TDS pens in the 700 scale..i am used to it.

:D

IT does go lower than 190. it has to get there somehow.

Tomorrow its all volcano for a shift in excellence...i harvested a pound and have too much in the bud keeper...i will try to smoke my way to the other side but i think its hash runs for a while...might as well do it by strain :D

What a GLORIOUS DAY !

smoke em if you got em and ask a bro if you dont.

The CFX switches between scales by holding the up and down buttons simultaneously for a second or so. I was converting the suggested temps but it's faster to just let the vape figure it out :). The Mighty likely has something similar.

I think I might be a year or two behind you, but I'll assume you are a 60's birth like me. I grew up confused about everything because of the switch. For example up until my 30's, cold was measured in C but hot was in F. I knew the difference between -18C and -25C, but above about 40 F my brain switched over. I still measure height and weight in feet and pounds. If you give me KM I'll convert to miles and if you give me miles I'll convert to KM.

On job sites, we had to constantly switch. Many drawings were engineered using metric, but of course anything from the south would be back to imperial. Drives a guy crazy to be dealing with nice, simple decimals and then have to go to fractions.

Yea sure would be nice to have one universal measurement. I do not use it but the metric system seems like it is a better system. IMO.

all I can say is when its cold its cold

-40 is equal in both scales.

A funny story...my bud from Atlanta GA came to Calgary AB in winter with me to teach people a new system. He comes to the lobby of the hotel with a Atlanta Braves pyjmma shirt on and i said stop screwing around get your winter coat...

This is my winter coat.

I said you might die.

He lived and we are best buds regardless of poltical affiliations...and we laugh about that a lot...

I had to teach him to sit on his hands in the car. OMG winter newb or what.
