July 2020 Gelato Auto Flower Grow

A friend of mine recommended I give ILGM a try so I bought a 20 Gelato auto seeds during one of their specials. All 3 I germinated, planted and they popped within a week. I was very surprised

Gelato Auto bred by ILGM. Grown by me. This is week 2 from sprout and I was stupid. Introduced an aloe plant to the grow room to use for cloning in the future but I didn’t quarantine it at all. Sadly the fungus Gnat bastards took over within a few days. Diatomaceous Earthis always my go to for larva extermination and I use sticky traps for the flyers.

Finally got the fungus gnats under control they did slow the growth a tiny bit. This is week 3 of the Gelato Auto grow

At this time I upgraded my grow space a little. I replaced my Mars hydro ts 600 with a Mars hydro ts1000 (150w) and I drilled 5in holes through my drywall to place intake fans in to keep air circulating. At this time I’m still doing the very basics. Light, feed, water, air.
This is where I really start to dive into my researching and paying more attention to what I am reading so I can put it into practice the proper way.

Gelato Auto (ILGM)

while researching more about auto flowers I kept coming to the conflict of to top or not to top. In stead of just going with one I decided to experiment with these 3 gals since I had another 17 seeds.
I had already began LST the week prior (wk 6) but came across an interesting article on a Reddit sub where a guy actually mainlined his autoflowers and constantly did this. Grant it they were mephisto genetics but this gave me the boost of courage I needed to truly go through with my experiment. So below are all three after the first training. (#1-LST only)
(#2-No further training removed all ties) (#3-Topped only once)

Gelato Auto (ILGM) Day 40
Below are #1 and #3 each had a different training technique done. As you can see #1(1st pic) was low stress trained only barely defoliating unless absolutely necessary like if a fan is completely blocking a bud site and cannot be tucked with blocking another. Now #3 (2nd pic) was LSTd the first 3 weeks of its life then was left alone to grow natural with no bending, ties or defoliation.



Skip ahead a few 2 weeks to around day 50 and the preflowers have little nugs on them all ready.

Now around Day 60 I decided to chop #1 and #3 I sadly didn’t take anymore pics. I didn’t have a jewelers loupe at the time and thought they were done because of the shear amount of buds they had. But I decided to leave the best looking one go on (Gelato auto #2) which is the one I topped.

I made a horrible mistake by chopping the first two gelatos early and not checking the trichomes. The site says minimum 60 days but I feel they could of gone another 2 weeks easy. Luckily I saved one and did just that. Look at this beauty right here. I found a macro lense for my phone at a 5 and 10 store so I used that to measure the trichs on this last one. First pick is at day 60 the rest are a few days before chop and hanging all finished up.

this was a fun and very educational grow. I learned with autos that soil is great but unless I got that super soil I’m not gonna have big yields. May try coco/soil mix next run. I also learned that not topping autos because it’s bad is pure myth because of the stability most auto varieties have now a days.

smoke report- this strain left a lot to be desired as far as a gelato. I am a big fan of that pungent rotting milk and berries aroma with a side of armpit and roadkill that this strain is so famous for. Except this doesn’t have that. Is the bud dank? Yes it has a skunky musk with a slight floral or spice off note. However it is not like true gelato I’ve had in the past like that of a photo period. I also didn’t get any purpling which every gelato I’ve ever had was a touch purple on the edges or inside this was bright green through and through. As for the price I paid $150 for 20x auto den seeds that germ at 100% so I’m not bitching about that. I just believe that I have much better things to grow in my stash than this. May revisit it once I get the coco or DWC down.

The first Tent grow!!!!!​

Goat Yogi (Cannabeizen)
Lineage:
(Second Sight x Purple goat)

Genotype Lineage: Purple Goat mother crossed with a Second Sight father. The Purple Goat is a Trainwreck X (Blueberry X Skunk #1) cross and the Second Sight is a Tree of Life mother crossed with a Third Eye (from West coast masters) father. The Third Eye is a Headband mother crossed with a Jack The Ripper (from TGA Seeds) father.

Germ rate: 3/10 seeds germinated
Medium: Soil/perlite 75:25
Nutrients: GH flora trio, recharge, calmag+ and Liquid seaweed
Light: LED Mars hydro TS1000 (150w)
Pots: 2 gallon fabric pots



Above pic is the only plant of 10 seeds that made it through germination and the seedling stage. Thank the heavens it was a girl!

The grow tent is making an incredible difference during veg.
She is feeding like a champ at the recommended amount on the bottle. Very surprised I don’t see any burn.

For only $25 for 10 seeds I’m pretty impressed so far with the vigor and structure of this plant I just wish I had a better germ rate.

Goat Yogi (Cannabeizen)
Week 3 or 4 after flip I forget exactly ​

Below is the Goat Yogi around week 6 when she really started packing on some weight.

Around this week I was literally feeding this plant 1.5x what GH flora trio recommended on the bottle I was giving her 15ml micro, 10ml gro, 20ml bloom and she was eating it like a champ. No burn what so ever. Then I noticed this(below)....

I figured it was a nitrogen deficiency since I was pumping so much p and k in her but the N was only at 10ml so I did what any noob would do and gave her more GH flora gro.

After flushing the plant out amd leaving her sit a week it seemed a little bit better but still kept yellowing so I decided at day 64 to just give her the chop and pop some more beans. Below is a pic of her right before chop.

Thanks means a lot. I always feel like I should be doing better. Too hard on myself sometimes. But when I finally smoke that home grown and it blows my mind I remember I’m doing something right.

Goat Yogi by Cannabeizen

Cure report— So it took a little longer than I expected for this strain to really shine. At first all I could smell was dirty armpit and grass so after having someone tell me I may have jarred too early because of the grass smell. I left the lid off for a week moving the buds around daily to keep from spot mold. After about a month of cure she started to shine! A nice sharp decay/menthol that I can’t even described paired with the smell of cooked apples. Very nice aromas

smoke report— this was a surprise to me because the first time I grew this out I fucked it all up and didn’t even get a real harvest (hence why that journal isn’t here) so when I finally rolled this up it just blew me away. Very smooth light fruity apple with a light garlic. I enjoyed the flavor a lot, the buzz however was super heady, euphoric and very short lived maybe 45 min at most until I was dead sober.

Grow report— not the best germination rate but very easy to clone and manipulate. No stunting after transplant or training. Loves full strength nutrient regimen in veg. Started seeing preflowers 5-7 days after 12/12 flip. In flower the stretch was about 40%, bud stacking was nice the whole way down the colas. Bud structure was medium dense with the larf being airy. Harvested at week 8 of flower. Could have gone another 2 weeks easy! Trimming wasn’t bad I’d say 1:2 leaf to calyx ratio. She gunked up the ✂️ heavy. Medium frost

Would I grow again? Probably not I’ve had so much better plants since this one that I’d rather revisit others before grow this again. And as for the buzz I didn’t get all that high. My fiancé and her friend lived that bud me and my friends however thought it was mediocre in buzz potential.

Normally I showcase my entire grows from start to finish but that has been taking entirely too long so from here on out I am going to select 3-4 pics of each strain/plant I want to show off in here and I will summarize my grows in one post mainly focusing on the things that stuck out or were different from other grows. Binary Selections Grow
The breeder— Binary Selections is a collaborative grow op between Ronin Gardens and Magic Strains to showcase the best of their autoflower offerings.

The Strains— Land Lock Funk, White X-Mas, and Funkadelic.

Land lock funk was purchased in a mix pack and Funkadelic was a single seed freebie. White XMas is a strain by binary that was only available for purchase during the month of December.

I grew 2x LLF’s because I really loved the Smoke from a previous grow. Both grew completely different.You can see in the above picture that the LLF closest to the camera has skinny leaves with thin branching, while the LLF behind it is more bush like with thicker fingered leaves.

This Grow went perfectly! I truly do love this strain from Binary and it will be a frequent grow in my garden. I didn’t have to do anything special and the buds were just chunky, dense and packed with trichomes. The aroma was straight skunky,funky, dankness there isn’t any other way to put it really. I would definitely recommend this strain to any grower and I’m sure they would be please. Definitely growing this one again.

Binary Selections Grow Cont.

this was a very interesting grow and was the tallest plant I have had to date coming in at 4’8” and just packed with gulfball sized buds. I also was able to do my first ever supercropping amd kushman chiropractics. Lol, anyway this was a freebie from DCSE and was only a single seed gift so I was very very happy to make it all the way to harvest.

Below is Funkadelic at Day 26 with preflowers popping out everywhere and this is where I ran into trouble with only having a 53” tent.

The final picture is the day I chopped it and let me just say this was a gorgeous plant. The fade was just incredible and the bright purple buds from the nurple lineage came through like a dream!!

Ok she’s too pretty one more...

All in all I should of gave her another week or two but I had more plants ready to move into this tent and all the other ones were done so I gave her the chop anyway. I will for sure be buying a pack of these this week as I just saw they were released by binary and are available for 50$ a pack on DCSE imho they are well well worth double that.

White Xmas by- Binary Selections
This is the Night Owl, Ronin, and Magic colab that I had to get my hands on when it was available December of 2020.

I popped one seed and got this incredible gal from it. She reeked of bright lemon lime with lovely piney finish that transferred to the smoke admirably. I still have one bud of this I’ve been trying not to break into but as I’m typing I think my will just broke. Mmmmmmm so so ? mouthwatering.


Sadly I only have this one pic of her on Day 49. She finished on day 64 with 100% cloudy.

This was my favorite of the 2x I had the pleasure to grow during the Great American auto race. It had huge very dense nug shaped buds with few leaves that weren’t coated in trichomes. The aroma was straight rotten, fermented melons with a touch of gas. Very intoxicating! The smoke is a full on head and body buzz that just locks you to whatever or wherever you are when you smoke. I specifically use this at bed time for that lovely taste and aroma plus a knock out high. Excellent cross and will be revisiting with the extra pack I grabbed.

Big Blue Auto by:River Valley Seeds

This was a freebie from DCSE and let me just say thank the grow gods I popped these.


This grow was very touchy at first. This strain is very very and. When I say very I mean very sensitive to N. I was using GH flora gro+micro+calmag all at 1/3 strength and they got N too on the second feed. Then from there I didn’t give them any gro at all just micro,bloom, and calmag. These bitches loved it and went back to their slight blueish green tint. It’s noticeably different from N tox I wish I would of taken before and afters.
Germination -harvest: 68days
Yield- 4oz from 3 plants
Size- 2ftx1.5ft
Phenos- 2x (#1-Dirt Pheno:No bullshit it smells like fresh compost and dirt or when you pick up an old rock or tarp from the ground amd that smell hits you that just smells like musty earth. (#2-Gas Pheno: idk how but this one smelled exactly like my dads shirts when he gets home from work. He drive a fuel tanker and always smells like diesel fuel and musk. This Pheno made me think of him every time I get a good whiff.
