Black Ash article AHHH I figured it was that

I switched from organics to salts....first round great....2nd round great....3rd round black ash. So this is a problem ONLY with perpetually using the same medium without flushing out the salts in the pot after. or it sure is a problem in that situation.

:D Salts BUILD UP.... and they come out in the ash. This article goes into some of the reasons but for this round THIS IS THE REASON....and it is also the reason when GOV weed has black ash.

So the day 65 plants have been getting PH 6.4 to 6.6 water only since day 63...i will go right to 70 with them. The godsherb had a 3 day flush and it is considerably better than the ones with no flush.

I am going to go back gradually to organic with salts run in water systems. The recycled soil can go outside or get cut a bit into the new stuff.

Why not... I hand water daily...i kind of like it.

1 week flush and a peroxide wash on the 5 or 6 hanging in the dryer.

Sneaked a PM F4 bud and a Dantes Pigs buds....both of them have bone white ash.

I will flush until they are back to full organic :D

I dont think i can test any more weed right now...i need a movie or a nap....or a couch to lock on.

We'll need several more studies like this to know for sure. The more, the merrier.

I still think "black ash" is mostly due to moisture content and less to do with nutrient regimen. The fact that the losingest strain was soil grown is somewhat of a tell. And what i mean specifically is moisture content at time of storage, the part of the article that says "just leave a bud out to dry & see what happens" doesn't address that bud being stored with too much moisture which may affect the combustion temp even if you let that bud dry out later. ... It's kinda like locking in hay smell, so to speak.

I'd also like to see General Hydroponics nutes in this study since they're still so widely used (self included).

I almost made a post about this the other day, because I rolled a little j and noticed it wasn’t very white…

I grow in living soil so there is no flushing, I almost cry when I overwater and see all the beautiful black runoff water in my 4x8 tray under the fabric bed. Back to the drawing board, or just cough up the $$ for soil testing. Fuck I answered my own dilemma haha

It is more problematic when the doob will not stay lit !

buds are tasting great again.... I will store the inbetweens for hash for edibles.

And whatever it is the gov producers up here...a few do it ALL THE TIME... it is like getting one of their pre rolls.

I love the whif of mildew in the morning...it smells like a gov pre roll.

No offense but I think it’s ur moisture % than nutes. I know for a fact if I smoke non fully dried/cured it will have that side effect but afterwards when dried and cured it’s correct and that color is gone. theres to much bro sci about this and try that exact same bud once it’s at 8-12% ( if it isn’t)

the way I know my moisture % inside the bud is by using a wood moisture meter ( cheap and works great )

at end of drying I want my % at 12-15 ,than once destemmed and trimmed and cured I want it at 8-12%. Once destemmed and put into storage ‘trim storage I keep a 62% humidity pack in there & when cured. Also put into note the papers can also be ur color. Like those palm cigar wraps that aren’t hemp but palm they will be white no matter how bad or cured ur weed is, i noitced many joint papers will be broad on colors based on if rice or hemp

Where is dr Smoke or Dr Roll when you need them.

Dr Sprout is an pediatrician !
Lol..I meant Professor Sprout :D

crib noting the 1917 guys viewpoints is that
1) they know the white ash is a better ash and they are looking to the why.
2) They state that combustion temps play a big role in getting that white ash.
3) That potassium and calcium were what actually helped the burn and the ash
4) That too much chlorides cause a poor burn

"just leave a bud out to dry & see what happens" doesn't address that bud being stored with too much moisture which may affect the combustion temp even if you let that bud dry out later. ... It's kinda like locking in hay smell, so to speak.
I think what you are saying makes sense and the "hay smell lock" was a great example of how curing weed wrong ,can screw your end product up.

If anyone had a definitive "how to" for white ash I'm sure we'd have seen it already. Burn hotter, less chlorides, and a good cure......maybe ;)

So it can be water.... :D
I started using HARD water...out of the tap.
The chlorides made me think about it.... makes a lot of sense.

I will start doing a 50 50 ro/hard as rocks water and see how it works.

5 gallons of RO water made puts about 9 gallons of additional water down the drain. 14 gallons for 5.

Not a fan.
