Hi friends. I wasn't going to say anything until my heart had healed at least a little bit, and at the moment, that seems like it'll be awhile. But in order to tell you what happened a few minutes ago - which is really something - I have to share the bad so you'll have context to appreciate the off the chart coolness that just occurred.
I lost my boy of 11 1/2 years Tuesday morning. I can't do details, but something awful happe - ok, I can't do even minimum details. As Bernie Mac often said,

This is me and Charlie Murphy 10 years ago at a friends house. I'm so grateful to her for taking the pic because of how much it means to me now.

Man, am I happy there. I'd just reached early retirement and escaped a once great relationship that had gone south in a hurry pretty much unscathed. I'd had two other labs before Charlie, but I also had jobs and social activities and such. Unencumbered by those, I had nothing but free time for walks, hikes, play and loving, and he dug it. He always ran ahead of me, but frequently looked back to make sure I was still in sight.

Walking back in the house after leaving the vet to cremate his body was devastating, and that's, if anything, an understatement. I've been a mess and I expect I will be for a good while. If you can believe it, weed makes it worse.

Yeah, you're right, and you still suck.
So y'all all know what a cool cat
@UncleB is, and a day or two before all this with Charlie went down, he'd said he was sending me something in the mail. Of course I'd forgotten about it, but I found it on the front porch probably an hour ago. I was buried in depression, but still curious, so opening it up, the first item unveiled was a framed pic of Italian pop star Fred Buscaglione. It took me a second to recognize him, but then a burst of laughter came out of nowhere like a sudden boom of thunder. I'd have bet anything That was not possible. And man - it felt awesome. There was more in the box, as you can see in the pic. So, yeah, Dickie "over rated" Betts - there's the cool part.
UncleB - this would have been cool even without my situation. Extremely cool. But as it has played out, you gave me a moment I desperately needed. I'll sip some whiskey, and roll some super joints down the line, but I will treasure this pic of Fred as long as I live because of that huge LOL moment it will always remind me of. Thank you from the bottom of my broken heart. [ tagging
