Brisco's F2 Competencia Musical

After excluding the Bruce Campbell tune, it came down to a photo finish between two entries.

"Fell On Black Days" may be the most impressive song that came out of the Seattle music explosion, rivaled only by their own 'Outshined" and a couple of Alice in Chains songs. Wrapping a catchy melody and chorus over an odd time signature, and lyrics baring the life long mental depression of one of the best vocalists in rock, it's worthy of a win, made even more poignant knowing that Chris Cornell ultimately succumbed to his struggles.

Mike Patton. Does anything else need to be said? OK.
Faith No More, Mr Bungle, General Patton and the Executioners, Dillinger Escape Plan, Lovage, Mondo Cane, Peeping Tom. And definitely Tomahawk. Patton and Chris Cornell both in my contest - BIG PROPS !

I listened to both a couple more times, and concluded that the instrumental break in 'Black Days' is a 'wait it out' moment...kind of an annoying break that I'm happy to get past. Thus, a very worthy number 2 finish for @Stanknugzz 77.

I like a lot of Mike Pattons groups, so I would say I'm a fan of his. But I just recently discovered this song a month ago on YouTube and really dig it.

But I did read your clue post. So I just went with it on this. Considering I chose Willin' by Little Feat in the first contest, pretty sure the clue helped my decision :)

Congrats @Bodean! Excellent song choice... enjoy those beans! As an additional reward, here's Dillinger Escape Plan with Mike Patton playing their entire EP at their last show, with a little FNM bonus in there!

Have to admit I overthought that one, I intentionally didn't go with another Mike Patton band because I thought it was too obvious. This is a theme in my growing too ... always look past the simple answer

Thanks for the contest Amos, it was a lot of fun!

Congrats @Bodean! Killer tune and band you chose to offer up for the contest. Thanks @Amos Otis , another great contest!

Probably one of my fav covers of all time. First time I heard this it just blew me away and I was an instant fan.

One of the rare covers I may like more than the original, and that's coming from a huge Sabbath fan too!

Congrats @Bodean !

Amos,
Spirit of '76 is good yes, coming from perhaps my favorite album of theirs. I did want to go a bit deeper than "Push th' Little Daisies" it being their first (and only???) "hit" - mainstream anyway. And here I was thinking that if you were at all familiar with Gene and Deaner, you would lean more toward...

Well fook me

 I posted a lot of pics of a wide range of artists at the start of both contests, from Flatt and Scruggs to Rammstein as an indicator that I could be blown away by excellence in most any genre. The Faith No More clip at the start of contest 2 was to counter the Grandpa Jones clip I left when closing contest one. You know I've been posting in the music threads at RIU for a couple of years now, right? I've seen John there now and then.

One of the rare covers I may like more than the original, and that's coming from a huge Sabbath fan too!

There's a live version of this on YouTube with this band lineup - Big Jim Martin on guitar. Ironically, FNM broke up originally because drummer Mike Bordin took a higher paying gig in Ozzy Osbourne's band.

Have to admit I overthought that one, I intentionally didn't go with another Mike Patton band because I thought it was too obvious.

I don't think you overthought it at all - I dug your Baby Huey and Snot posts. Also, a Mike Patton post was not a guaranteed win, though you'd be hard pressed to find anything he's involved in that I'm not a fan of. But to give you some ideas of the many that could have competed with MP.....well, I did say 'Screamin' Night Hog'.... As pictured, I love Gary Stewart at least as much, Jennifer Charles, Sade, Family....I'm a big fan of rockabilly and thrillbilly, David Bromberg, Sergio Mendes, Carla Olson, Ambrosia Parsley, Squeeze, Ricky Skaggs, Savoy Brown, Sneaker Pimps, Texas Tornados, Dread Zeppelin.....and these cats...
