I recently got a small bud trimming machine (bowl type) I'm wanting to press my trim been looking at presses on amazon & e bay 3x5 plates seem to be the norm they range in prices the super cheap ones look too cheap but there is a gang of them in the mid price range I'm not wanting to break the bank but also don't want to be a cheap-ass & set myself up for unhappiness either open to suggestions

Plus one I have been looking and it seems easy to buy junk from everything out there. So I'll be watching this

I tried to go budget first, I tried a small rosineer press, which worked, but not nearly big enough for what I wanted to press. Then I tried to build a press using heating plates, and a harbor freight shop press... That wound up being under 320 bucks, but again, still left way more to be desired.

Then I spent about 600 bucks or so on a Dab Press with the hand pump, and I havent looked back since. \

This is the model I have.

There are a couple reasons I think the Dab Press excels... First, the plates heat consistently. One of my biggest issues was the home made press had trouble holding desired temps. Secondly, the hand press allows me to repeat the same process with the same pressure during runs. Being able to see the pressure I am applying is clutch, and made me realize I dont need nearly as much pressure as I thought. The jack is also much better quality than what I have seen out there on amazon and ebay. Before this unit, I was running into issues getting air into the line of my jacks... Thats just a total PITA when youre trying to press a batch, and cant even get the jack to work ... Beyond all that, the DP is built like a tank at something like half of the cost of bigger brands like Low Temp Presses.

If that unit is out of your price range, dab press has a bare bones unit as well...

Wha

T size plates 4x4 or 5x5 ? I would just probably run the 3x5 unless I felt the need for larger plates
I had the 6 ton dabpress with 3 x 5 plates and it easily squished 7 grams at a time. I did a few bags stuffed with 10 grams but found the 7 gram were more manageable. Hell even jungle boys said they do 7 gram squashes.

If the 4 ton has 3 x 5 you'll be all good there.

Yeah I'll only be dealing with what the 4x4 produces & maybe a little stuff from my growmies

The dab press seemed pricey at first but their competitor the nugsmasher is even more pricey I finally went to dabpress sight & they're offering the 4 ton for $369 & ebay had remanufactured for $ 285 this is worth saving a bit & getting something up to the task at hand dabpress is comparable in price to the knockoffs with the same features although I've never pressed yet but after input here & watching some videos I feel I need 3x5 plates & hydraulic jack type press & a big plus to the dab press you could order parts so some time in the future this is gonna be an addition to my growroom
