Yup. Flood water on the ice sucks so bad. The worst is when you get a layer of water under a thick blanket of snow. It can lead to some of the most awful conditions for getting stuck.
Yeah man, that's what we get here, a foot of snow on thin ice and you'll have at least 4in of slush on top of the ice. That stuff is hard to even walk in and you'd better have some Titans on your feet otherwise your done instantly.

I wish it didn't get quite as cold here, but at the same time, I'm very happy not to have that kind of wishy-washy winter where it's too cold and snowy and miserable for warm weather activities but not cold enough for proper cold weather play.

-40 this morning, but at least this is the tail end of it. -28 today and highs above -20 for the rest of the long range forecast.

Haven't left my property since last Tuesday. I really need to get out and get some exercise.

Depends where in the Mitten, here it's 16 F feels like 8 with the wind chill. Not too cold but prime lake effect temps. Out the window all I see is white. No relief in sight either, forecasting 3+ inches every day for the next week. Skiers are finally happy.

Typical for here, the lake I like to fish has an inch or two of ice, and when the snow is done it'll probably have over a foot on top of the ice. Makes for terrible ice/fishing conditions. I often wonder how nice it would be to get some cold without all the damn snow.
Yeah I kind of figured you were a bit cooler then us here. Don't get me wrong, it was 0F when I got up this morning LoL. I had to add some Oil to the engine before heading into town and MAN it did NOT take long before my no gloves fingers were totally numb haha.

If you're up to finding out what cold but without as much snow is like you could always head South for a bit :) Bring me a Wolf Pup if you can :)

Looks like I survived another stretch in the deep freeze. Time to emerge from hibernation and see if there are any other survivors.
Bro, did you see that the deep south here was getting hammered with snow and freezing rain ? I felt bad for them; They are NOT used to that. It was 4 or 5 degrees when I went out to start up the Jeep this morning. I think it's like 6 or 7 now, so, might as well turn the AC back on haha.

Woo hoo! I found a way to see IG stuff while blocking all the facebook tracking bullshit.

Toronto flooded every Spring by the tears of Maple Leaf fans killed me. :ROFLMAO:
I was in Toronto a couple of decades ago when the world cup of hockey was on. Bought a maple leafs top while I was there and adopted them as a token team to follow the results.....it seems they are as good as my western bulldogs team lol

The Laffs are like the Dallas Cowboys used to be in the US. Loved by their fans, rabidly hated by everyone else. :ROFLMAO:

They are marketed as Canada's team and rammed down our throat by the national sports media who are all based in Toronto. Combine that with their massively obnoxious fans and for many Canadians, the Laffs losing is almost as good as our team winning. ;)

so we're practically neighbors

Canada's worst kept secret, it's a walled city, on an island.
Speak the english, and it's not so neighborly.

Sorry, the farther west you live, the more intensely they program you to speak like that.

Montreal is a beautiful city. My younger brother lived there for a couple years, he sent me pictures of the most beautiful stone work.

I haven't complained about anything all day, so I thought I would take the opportunity to post up this article.

Don't tell me we are getting the same Swiss cheese.

I saw a $10 stick of butter the other day.
In silence, I stared in fascination, thinking about the epic old codger I will become.

Now THAT is Whiskey !
The name says it's not LOL :)

Man, beating Ireland though.... That must be one heck of a pat on the back. Funny how it started from a perfume maker with some Irish Monks about 1,000 years ago. Brandy was made by accident though; They distilled the Wine, thinking they could just add water after it was sent over, but the people who got it didn't add the water, they tasted it instead, and loved it.
