Kicked in the head by a skate. That's got to be a trip to the hospital, right?

Not if you are a hockey player chasing Lord Stanley's Cup. SEVENTY-FIVE stitches later and back out in the second period.
This is why soccer and its floppers will never be a big deal here. If the choice is watch some clown fake an injury like a bitch or watch a MAN fight though severe injury to keep playing, you'll find me down at the rink.

There is a rule in the NHL that you have to leave the ice if you are bleeding. They had to make that a rule, because otherwise guys would just keep playing. Hockey, fuck yeah!

Being from one of the "main states" that take Hockey seriously (You may well see a family fight because of who's cheering for who) it's just one of those things; Then again my state tosses out Octopus on the ice LOL.

It has been said that the bears in the National Parks are a different proposition than those elsewhere. Constant exposure to humans and pets, and the inevitable assholes who feed the wildlife, leads to unfortunate encounters like this one.

A pair of visitors were walking with two dogs running freely between them along Wabasso Lake Trail when the bear approached “within a very close proximity,” the park said in a Facebook post updated on Monday, adding one of the dogs initially chased the bear away before the wild animal reversed its course.

That’s when the bear returned within two feet of the hikers and the second dog, which stood its ground and barked, before the bear attacked the canine, the Facebook post said, leading a hiker to fire bear spray at the attacker and strike the bear with the canister multiple times in the head.

“The bear still did not release the dog and carried it into the woods,” the post said.

As a guy who spends time in the bush, there are so many things about the people in that article that make me facepalm.

Sure the scenery is pretty, but running is prey behaviour. It provokes predator response. Doing it in an area full of bears and mountain lions, ravenous after the winter, isn't wise.

Add two smaller, furry, noisy prey, un-tethered, to create further stimulus.

Waiting until the bear is within 2 feet and latched onto the dog before deploying the bear spray. That stuff is to deter attacks before they start. An adrenaline fueled bear in mid attack will barely notice it.

Hitting the bear with the bear spray can?! By that point I was almost cheering for the bear. :slapping:
