If you didnt run it dry of fuel carb is prob gummed up or diaphragm is no good. I try & put seafoam or stabil in all my fuel cans now & its def saved me some hassle in these situations.

LOVE Seafoam.... it goes in everything...... it runs just fine....... the side cover got burned by some wood in there I guess.... it looks like shit.. I wanted to know...if there's a way to still use the cover...... that spring that should teithen up when you kick the handel back to ingage does move to good now.....

I want to just make it run.... with out buying a side cover if possible.......

Not sure if you are talking about the kickback/ Chain Brake safety feature?
It appears the clutch got hot and melted the cover.

First give it a good cleaning. Wear gloves and safety glasses. Blast it out with compressed air if you have it. Soak the cover in an old container with some dish soap/water and scrub it with an old brush. I use carb/choke cleaner for the hard to get greasy/grime. But something like simple green works as well.
On the clutch itself I would either remove it, and clean around it and the drive grear thoroughly, or use the carb /choke, or clutch cleaner and then compressed air.
It appears the drive gear/ is behind the clutch? Make sure it (drive gear) spins freely by hand. If not there is something in there, wear, or out of place causing friction and heat.

Sorry I am not familiar with your saw exactly, I also have more experience with Stihl.

Some saws suggest starting with the safety mechanism/kickback guard/chain brake locked. I have found this gets the clutch hot pretty quick.
I only use the engage/disengage chain brake as a kickback safety feature while cutting.
For starting and all other times while running, the chain is fully engaged. Though not spinning unless I throttle it.

If the chain is spinning at an idle, the clutch has an issue (dirty, worn or debris binding it up). Or the carb could be set incorrectly. low/high idle to high.

When I get a chance I do have some tech info (I believe) for your saw. Have several manuals that cover almost every thing.
I'll look for it and see if I can post or message you with anything I find to potentially help you.. :)

Right now, as every other day, Im going out to cut some firewood, trim some branches for the wife, and enjoy the beautiful spring day.

Good luck :)

If your going to run that Alaskan, takes pretty good power and a specific chain to rip?
The one I saw had a good size ?Jonsered, but I’m Stihil all day.
Guessing at least a 046 or whatever designation they are now.
Any bigger, 64, frickin Man saw.
Too big for me to even look at. )
Holds 10 gal. ?
A small ban mill would be nice, if you can justify it.

can’t edit spelling Stihl

My old saw was worse for ware.
Picked up this little number last month. $388 not pesos. She’s a good notch up from Johny home owners back yard nibblers.
Really nice saw pEffect weight for a day out cutting firewood with the pickup.

Ha, I knew there was a 46 something. Cutting off a clear cut? Lots of firewood in the slash, hardwood.
I love wood heat! I get tired of it by this time, though.
Those are tough trucks, not Ford tough. ??.

I had a 029 Farmboss
Down to a 036, bulletproof, I've always run Stihl mix.
I’m done slinging saws!
My buddy has a tree service, delivers.
I’m saving what’s left of me to grow :weedleaf: .

Not an expert, but I was a deforestation technician years ago.
There are different gauge chains in the same lengths, so not all are compatible.
For those chains that are stretched, get a chain break and links, you can shorten it.
A lot of times, if it’s not oiling properly, chain gets too hot, stretches. Eats up your bar too.
Not knowing you knowledge level, you need to flip the bar when you swap chains, they don’t wear even.

Stay away from what I call “recreational chains”, suppose to help with kickback. Thats great for part timers, but you can’t file the drags, the part that regulates how big a bite the chain takes.
Sharpening shortens the height of the tooth and with safety chains, eventually the chain won’t grab enough because the drags are too tall.

Consequently, you can ruin a chain by filing the drags down too much, it tries to take too much, stalls the saw. File the teeth down to fix.

I always had extra chains (saws) when a saw gets dull, I grab a sharp one, if run them too long, your working yourself and equipment harder than you need to?
Smarter not harder, stuff last longer too.
It’s easier to touch up a chain that’s not dull as a 2x4.
Rocks hate chainsaws!

Reading novel length posts, I use to comment to my self “jeez, this guy ever heard of Readers Digest condensed? Sometimes it takes a novel, turns out! ?
Ya, I’m old. )
Holler if I can help.

STIHL saws are specifically built for there chains, bar oil and mix. Don’t use any other then specially STIHL Or you will shorten your life expectancy of your STIHL chainsaw or any other STIHL machinery, IE, blower, trimmer, etc.
Fuck, I sound like a walking STIHL poster child?‍♂️
