Recently acquired a cut of Chem91. In my seed collection I have Chem91 IBL from Ice River Genetics. Decided to drop 6 and hunt for a male thats worthy of hitting the original with.. All six are up and sequestered in their own little tent. I plan on giving them like 2 weeks before I flip them. Will let them tell me what they are then put the males back into veg, abuse them a little and see how stable they are. If they make it through a few weeks of reveg with no issues I'll take cuts then flip them back into flower and see if any end up being studs. Thats the plan anyway, I'll start pics tomorrow and update my hunt as I go.

I want to with a few others but being that the Chems were all hermie bag seeds I would worry that a reversal would bring that trait to the front. May not be the case but I'm staying away from reversing this one. Here's the Chem91 IBL seeds.

With chem 91 vs #3 and other pheno’s of chem

You’ll know you got the correct pheno by a lot of terps (not that other pheno’s do not ) but major factor is the hairs! It’s hairy and has that “semi sativa “ but still compact

Taste very sour and effects , uplifting and great daytime

This is the story from the dudes responsible. Interesting reading how it all happened. I was at one of the last 3 Dead shows and a few others from 89 to 95. I got weed at shows around the same time and WTF I never thought twice about seeds. Not saying I got Dogbud but it was better than the Mexican brick weed that was around at the time. Best show ever got weed and English Muffin pizza from a VW bus. Perfect.

Im about to run some chem91 bx to preserve the line and get ready for some out crosses. These are pretty dope. I will drop a pack on you to try out. Need to get sour grape and roadkill skunk going. They are a little slow with the colder temps. Cold root zones and all that. But id say march or april the chems will be ready.

You should. The hermie trait is there so you already know what to look for. If you see any genetic traits of herm from the female you reversed you can kill two birds with one stone. You can cut the beans from that cross or cut both females from the cross because at least one is carrying that herm gene strong.

I'm not going that deep with it. If I find a male with promise I'll mess with it for a couple months and see how it handles stress. If it handles it Im just gonna hit the original 91 and make beans to play with later. Honestly barely have room to run these 6 past sexing so females get culled unfortunately. I'm aware it'll take a stroke of luck to find a stud male but the beans are just going to be for my collection so no pressure. If all the males blow they get culled and I'm popping some Blue Orca Haze and looking for a boy in them, then God Bud,
then Beatrix Choice, then......Eventually I'll have a worthy male to play with. Maybe a shit load of them and another new tent. ?

This was my thoughts too. The gene is present and feminizing wouldnt bring on any traits that inbreeding it wouldnt. Sounds awesome @GCG I'll be watching for sure

So my ridiculous 6 seed hunt for a male has ended. Went 1 for 6 and I dont like the one male i got. Has a few little brownish balls mixed in with normal ones. Dont know what the reasons would be but can't imagine any are good. Burnt him pretty good with a 3 in 1 so may grow out of it but....Culling him. Still have 12 seeds I think, maybe I'll try again In a few months.

Interesting I’m watching along. I just dropped some chem91 x gmo beans
Chem91 X GMO ???? ?? I'd like to to hear more about this!

I also read someone was at "the shows" where Chemdog is said to have been first mentioned and man....... if Doctor Who ever shows up..... I may not really listen to The Grateful Dead but I'd fucking be at that show dressed up as a Dog Catcher hahahaha!

Bro I'm reading through this right now and LOVING it!

As the story goes, Chem met P-Bud and Joe Brand on the lot in Deer Creek and purchased an ounce of a strain called Dogbud for $500. Later, he asked Joe to mail a few more ounces to him in Western Massachusetts, one of which contained 13 magic seeds.

I'll be Honest; If I had 500 dollars that I didn't need for something else..... This is literally a point in human history where I'd actually pay THAT much for an ounce LOL! Part of the appeal is the history of course, but the bigger part would be having actual Chemdog AND those Seeds!!! Oh man..... The last time I had Chemdog it was a Cart..... I'm one of those people that really prefers buds to oils, so it's a little sad saying the last time I had it was a Cart we got from a friend of ours and, well, not like Oil ever has seeds hiding inside :(

Also, HUGE shout outs to all of you that were doing this stuff back when it was literally prison time you were looking at over this..... I can't even imagine how you'd keep strains like Skunk #1, and Chemdog, and Blue Cheese, and no one is kicking the door down because of the smell...... My heart goes out to you guys, an I'm glad we still have Chemdog, and Blue Cheese, and a multitude of other strains that I LOVE dearly.

The three females were dubbed “Chem Dog” (now known as the Chem 91), “Chem Dog A” (now Chem’s Sister) and “Chem Dog B.”

So Chem '91 is actual Chemdog ? And so is Chem's Sister? I've read that Chem '91 was "bred with an Indica" so I'm making sure I've got this right in my head. Also I think Chem's Sister lead to Gorilla Glue #4 if I'm not mistaken. Or if Leafly wasn't LOL.

In 2001, Chem germinated three more of the magic seeds, labeling them “Chem Dog C,” “D” and “E,” with “D” being the keeper and becoming known as the Chem D

OK so I actually grew Chem D for the very first time this passed season, and before that I'd only had it once before (Soon to be Father in Law was setting up clones in a tent, and I was helping out, and two were labeled "Chem D" and at first, my dumb ass thought it was Chemdog of course..... And then after looking into it...... Well, I know Chem D is a strain, so it was unlikely that it was "just short hand for Chemdog", and after looking up online pictures of Chem D's Bud Structure and overall looks, I realized that we have Chem D, since the pictures I saw of what Chem D looks like, are almost exact; Distinct color including the white look it has because it produces resin like I couldn't Believe LOL. Burnt Rubber Smell, and wonderful taste, and all around one of my favorite strains.

sorry I keep asking so many questions, but last summer I'd be smoking with my Fiance as we walked in the woods, and I'd be reading about Chemdog and it's history, but I kept running into an issue; Depending on which Website I was reading, the story changed..... So I got confused, and I'd like to have facts instead of "well Leafly says....." cause sometimes that doesn't seem to pan out LOL.

So if that's accurate and I' understanding this, Chem D is a Phenotype ? Like UK Cheese is to Skunk #1 ?

I have now finished reading this article and just want to say how much I LOVE the Chem family...Anyone who's read more than 2 posts of mine probably knows that Blue Cheese is #1, and #2 is usually a Chem family (Chem D usually since I have that LOL) but seriously, for someone who used to have to visit a Doctor minimum once a month, and sometimes more, and had worse health than I currently do, and my life was NOT stable by any means.... Neither was I. I Thank God for what I have now. I literally could have died a few times, and going through what I did, I was usually looking for strains that would help. Blue Cheese was the first one that made me think I could live life without Dilauded, Percocet, Norco, and Xanax (Yes...ALL of those.... At the same time.... :( ) and Once I had found Blue Cheese, I realized that strains mattered; Before this, for me, Weed was Weed; After Blue Cheese, I no longer looked at it that way, and then Chemdog and crosses of it came along, and they too were added to my list of things I have that keep me away from a Doctor, and a life of misery. So yes I'm sorry I ask a lot of questions, but there's a reason some of these strains are so important to me. And I think I've narrowed it down to Genetics; All of my ALL time favorite Strains, ALL seem to share common ancestor strains (Skunk #1 => UK Cheese => Blue Cheese..... Chemdog - Chem D and so on...) so anything that gets crossed with those, I'm instantly interested in. They help so much that I can't help but want to learn more.
