I removed my reservoir containers, added more DE, and aimed the fan more directly over the top of the soil. I’m considering picking up some mosquito dunks to water in and plan to bottom water for a little while.
If you are dealing with fungus gnats, consider picking up from organicbti.com. The mosquito bits and dunks are a fucking pain in the ass and quite expensive comparatively. Good luck with whatever method you choose! Positive vibes...

I am still utilizing the heat mat which I assume to be a factor in the improvements I’m seeing in growth rate and overall appearance during the veg stage. I’m still seeing a few gnats, but I think their numbers might be tailing off. I watered with gnatrol the other night and will repeat that in a few days.

Up potted BLB (front center) and Citrus Milf (back center). I reintroduced the wick system for those two, this time placing the wick low in the pot.

Soil mix for up pot from qt to #1 (.7 gallon) trade pot:
1.5 qt Roots Organic soil
1 pint worm castings
1tsp azomite
2/3 tsp insect frass
5tsp Bio-live
1tsp Dr Earth Tomato, Veg, and Herb
2/3tsp flower girl

Getting ready to flip soon. I’ve been waiting for AT x DCP to sex, they all look like dudes to me but I’ve been giving them some time to show. They want new shoes, but I’ve been holding out until I see female preflowers to upsize. I cut my light timing down to 14/10 last night to try to get them to show a bit more preflower development.

The culling:

All three Air Trigger x DCP from @SSGrower were dudes. I kept them in quart containers for quite a while. They were getting pretty root bound at time of death. You can see the middle one was droopy this morning. Otherwise they grew nicely and really didn’t have any troubles during veg. Two of them had a nice sweet floral smell that reminded me of lavender. The other was kind of eucalyptus with a hint of ammonia.

The third Pura Vida finally got chopped. The other two are ladies and doing well. This one was a runt early on and I was pretty sure it was going to stall out and die, but it carried on and made it all the way until today. It’s stem rub was a nice sweet kushy smell.
Overall this was my best veg group so far. I kept the whole group mostly happy, and although I had a few fungus gnats I avoided having the chase any real plant problems.

Black Light Bubba @Dino Party (front left), Citrus Milf @HydroRed (front right), and 2x Pura Vida f2 from Nube in the back.

Everything was up potted into 2 gallon trade pots. Roots organic soil with worm castings (1 1/2 to 2 pints), biolive (4tsp), Flower Girl (4 or 4.5 tsp), Azomite, and insect frass (2tsp each). I watered with a little Root Ruckus (kelp/humic). They are on 12.5 hours for now and will be moved to 12/12 in a few days. I plan to move to 11.5/12.5 by mid-flower.

lookin solid in here! Have you found that to be a better way to run your timer, doing it like that?

So I’ve been using plant wicks placed near the bottom of my containers with two, quart sized reservoirs that each provide water for two of the plants. I was hoping that this would provide a nice even water supply for the plants so that I could maintain optimal soil moisture to maintain healthy growth while staving off the fungus gnats. Unfortunately the gnats have used the wick to enter the pots and sometimes the reservoir. I guess I need to re-evaluate my strategy but for now gnatrol at 2/3 tsp per quart has been added to the reservoir and I’m only filling them halfway and allowing the wicks to dry completely between waterings. Hopefully this and some sticky traps leaned between the wick and reservoir will get me back on track.

I was looking over the plants last night and found a few nanners on the BLB . I plucked what I saw and am on elevated watch for now.

I’m trying to consider what stressors I may be encountering. I don’t think I have light leak issues, but should probably give a check. I’ve had some fungus gnats, and I flipped them very close to the time of up potting. Those are the possibilities I’ve thought of so far. I suspect it could be something I’m doing because I’ve been herm city over here lately.
