Chief’s Den

Well, as it turns out I had an embarrassing amount of light leaking into my grow space. I spent some time trying to remedy that in hopes of stopping the herm train that I have started dead in it’s tracks. I really should have figured it out last round, but such is life. The biggest leak was where the input air comes in. I have two feet of 4” flex that feeds dry air from a mini dehumidifier. I have a hood built around that and figured that light in my very dim space wouldn’t make it into the tent. Well, I was wrong. To fix that I used some black vinyl to reduce the light coming through the hood and used a child sized black shirt to cover the inside duct opening. I also hung a large piece of black vinyl over my tent opening. The good people at Vivosun sure offer a lot of pinhole leaks, and light leaks at the corner seams and zippers.

Just got up to speed with all the happenings in your spot. Bummer on the balls, but glad you were able to find the culprit and whip it into shape for future intersex free runs. The very first tent I ever bought was one of the Vivosuns and the zipper let all kinds of light in as well as the flaps on the inside to cover the zipper were too short at the top and bottom, both letting in light. It basically wasnt really "fixable" so I use it in the garage now to hold boys seperately when I need. Lemonade from lemons I guess lol

I haven’t looked at grow tents in a while, but I’m starting to plan for the replacement. I’m thinking AC Infinity, but am open to other suggestions of tents that are of a of better quality and come in either 36”x20”x60ish” or 48”x24”x60ish”.
I think @Meatman just had some quality issues with his Infinity tent recently? Not sure the resolve but worth a mention. Gorilla brand tents are super thick canvas, are made to convert into taller tents with add on pieces you can buy seperately and nice robust zippers. They are overall pretty good quality, but you gotta pay for that quality.

I love my tents from acinfinity but,,,,,,my 5x5 literally ripped at the seam by the zipper the first time I opened it, so I emailed acinfinity and they said they’d shit me out a replacement shell for it well 2 weeks went by nothing happened so I emailed them again they said sorry we will get that out today so I got a tracking number well 2 weeks goes by and they never shipped it out so I emailed them again and they finally shipped it out so I got it 2 days after that but besides all that they are pretty awesome tents and if you get there fans and filters they pretty much are a game changer if you order off Amazon or there actual website this code CANUCK15 will give you 15% off

gday red, question... if you are investing serious coin into a tent, would it be advantageous to build a room? frame insulation board and reflective coating? might cost a bit more in the short term but that room will last a lifetime. just throwing it out there. newb to indoor growing. wouldnt it make a better investment if light and zipper leaks seams etc are the common denominator.
great journal here @chiefer888 absolute fire. the phenohunter site throws up another nook i hadnt seen. great work and a busy fella youve been

Looking at my plants I see quite a bit of red stem development. I have also plucked a few lower leaves that have a bit of modeling near the tips. Looks like the whole group would like a heavier dose of phosphorus. I just top dressed in the same manner that I did the previous time and am considering if I should try to give a bigger phos boost. One thing I may do next watering is give a low dose of Neptune's Harvest Rose and Flower mix. It's a 2-6-4 mix so it might give me a little better bump on my phos.

Planning to pop some beans for the next round. I’m considering running some of Bodhi’s Dread Bread x SSDD. I may try my hand at selective pollination and make a small batch of f2s. Other options I might do would be Dragon Temple from Magic Spirit or Silver Mountain f2. I may try out @SSGrower ’s Blue Ripper or @HydroRed ’s Blueberry Hashplant to ride along. Decisions…

My seed starting game is a little off. I lost a few to damping off. I switched to Light Warrior with a handful of castings and no additional aeration. The seeds stayed too soggy so I lost a few. I hit them with a generous watering that included H2O2 (<1% solution) and left town for two days. I also didn’t set up the heat mat figuring it’d be warm enough for them to take off. I’ll regroup and pop a few more.

Well, it looks like I have root aphids. I’ve been watching my plants show some leaf symptoms and slow down in flower development and water consumption. I’d been thinking maybe they were starting to get hungry for Ca, but it didn’t quite seem right. Tonight as I watered I noticed some undeniable movement on my soil. I got my loupe out and got one in sight. I’m at week 9 now. All of the plants appear to need more than a week, but flower ripening has slowed down some. I suspect that I should probably just chop them soon and call it good the flowers are just a bit under ripe.

I would try and let them go as long as feasible. If hash is a possibility, def let them finish......you'll be happier. If it's gonna be bud.........I draw the chop line on how the sugar leaves are dying back. If there is going to be too much brown in the bud I may pull it. I am almost always disappointed with early picked bud, but hash from a raggedy plant is still good!
