Rain bird, black triangle, ducks foot and rude boi og were the only plants I’ve grown that truly met the 50% amber outdoors at the 44th parallel. In my personal experience
Personally, I just cut Bud Rot off. If I don't find it in time and it managed to spread to the actual branch, then I toss the whole branch. I did notice some shocking stuff though like two years ago; A Sativa Dominant strain, in a Green House, had WAY more Bud Rot, than anything else, because from the looks of it, Humidity does more damage than rain LOL.
That plant was soooooo unhappy by the time it finally got some Amber Trichomes.... I tossed SO many branches from the Rot, but it made it across the finish line. It didn't like the cold either... I don't think I've had a season where I wasn't shaking snow off my branches, but as soon as mid day warm up happened they were right back to looking fine.
I know I can't do Sativa dominant strains outside here, even if those slightly airy buds have more air flow in them, because they don't seem to enjoy cold air. Cheese on the other hand.... I might lose a few buds here and there, same with Chem crosses; But generally I haven't had an issue. Skywalker is another easy one to get across the finish line outside here. Motor Breath CAN do it, but once it's like November and I'm waiting for her, it's like on the wire so to speak.
GMO is hit or miss; She takes so long to finish (I aim for 30% Amber colored Resin) that I was a little nervous once November came. GMO did finish, and I did have whole branches I was tossing, but it was fine, cause she produced WAY more than I thought from the size of the buds.
I always have at least a little rot on each plant, but it's easy enough to chop that bud off and toss it, and with some digging into the bud, I can check and see if it spread to the stem. Sometimes I can chop the bud and it's fine, and sometimes it's not and I cut a branch off. That no wind 100% humidity in Fall can be a pain.
