CO2

Anyone ever had CO2 buildup during lights out. This has happened to me several times. When I went in to room at lights on this morning to plug in my C02 burner the warning light was flashing over 2500ppm. Exhaust fan was on and burner was unplugged all night. How the fuck does this happen?

I know plants want oxygen at night not CO2 so what negative effects are possible from really high C02 in the dark? Are my plants gassing off that much at night? I don't understand where it's coming from. Burner wasnt even plugged in. WTF!

Reposting this from my journal. Think I got it.

Eureka!!!
Soil
The soil underneath a house contains carbon dioxide from decaying plants and animals. If the soil was used in farming, it contains fertilizers, manure and other nutrients applied to the soil to increase productivity. Many times farm land is converted into housing developments. When that occurs, the high levels of carbon dioxide can enter the house. The process involves the CO2 gas being drawn out of the soil into the house. The difference in air pressure between the house and the soil causes the house to suck up the carbon dioxide gas from the soil into the home.

I built my room in a barn that was used for decades as a horse barn. Converted a stall into a room. Ran joists and plywood decking about 10" off the ground for my floor. Clearly the exhaust fan is the culprit. All the old horseshit and organic matter(shavings) that had turned to dirt over the years is gassing off and getting sucked up into my room. Weird that its not venting out just as fast though. Tonight no exhaust fans and I'll see where I am tomorrow.

@Budwulf. Nah, I think @Jewels may have been correct. Left fans on overnight again and no high readings. Must be a malfunction. Verified humidity was high in my area the days in question so I'll accept that humidity can give me those crazy high readings. Next humid night I will see if I can dupolcate those numbers with fans again.

I discovered the malfunction when I would take the meter out of my warm garage, walk across the ( frozen) yard and into my house. I believe it steamed up the NDIR sampler.
Try this out,,,
2 giant human exhales, into a empty 30 gallon aquarium will yield 1000ppm.
Also, you could light a candle, and regard the meter climb.

Only

Only run it first 2 weeks of flower normally so no didn't do anything but unplug it until next time. Will look into that though, hadn't thought of the need for that but makes sense. Still have book on everything I use so I'll look tonight. Thanks
Run that puppy weeks 2-8.
You’ll find they go through stages.
Weeks 3-5-7 I find they soak up cO2 like crazy.

This is a CO2 thread, so I submit:

I had a long conversation with someone who was convinced that using CO2 through the entire flower cycle was a method of cheating up yield, while compromising potency.
Any thoughts ?

I turn the bottle on at week 2 and off at end of 7.
I do see a significant improvement in weight and density earlier in bud development.
I have to be careful though because the denser the buds the more chance I have of rot setting in.
I would say probably a 25-35% improvement in growth. But the conditions have to be perfect.
light, RH, temp and to properly work rooms sealed tight.
I’m in the beginning of week 6 rite now and they just finished off there 3rd #50 bottle.

I think I am on my 4 or fifth, 20lb propane bottle, since winter.
Makes for $130 to finish three runs.
Is cold man! We just huddle around the torch , get right bunnyfried, and watch the buds grow.

My burner goes through one $20 tank of propane in 3 weeks. I only run it in Veg and first few weeks of flower because of the heat the burner creates. Figure some is better than none.
