Columbian Mango Biche

In Bloom
Another big thanks to @DopeDaniel for the seeds. Finally got em started.Ran into issues with my seedling heat mat which stopped working after years of use, only had 7 seeds sprout of the 17 i started(maybe seed mat maybe me,its been a bad week for luck lol),which blows but better than none i do suppose.

I'll see how these start to pan out and if i decide i need more genetic material to get enough stability for a seedrun then ill clone these and keep em on standby and order some mango biche from TLT.I'll try my best to do weekly updates on this but may end up bi weekly as i have a busy few months ahead of me

Very excided for this and kudos to you for having the patience. I went 0/?? on the first round, had to manually crack the 2nd. They look uniform, except for the one in the terracotta pot, lol.
I admittedly normally dont have much patience but i really wanted to see these through and i didnt have anything else i was planning on starting immediately so i left the root riot cubes and occasionally topped em off with some water.Im excited

Lol the terracotta pot is my extremely late basil, young basil plants disappear within 24 hours of being outside for me,maybe birds maybe rabbits so I'm keeping this one inside.

Had to cut back lights a good bit these definitely preference medium lighting. Also took out my basil and other unrelated plants.

I also aggressively topped some of them giving them a nice little haircut.I figure given the longgggg flower cycle ill wanna be sure to keep them manageable.

Gotta say each top had a wonderfully unique peppery and peanutty and mildy mango-esque smell that was quite a lovely scent. Also all the new growth on tops was nice and green showing recovery from my late repotting. The pictures don't reflect that since i snipped the nice new tops away.

Also i do believe you are correct DopeDaniel, lol im bad about keeping track of dates,i put a sprout date in my notes and a flip date but in between is often forgotten.

Given their disdain for lots of light and longer flower cycle im thinking i may very soon drop down to 12/12(currently at 14/10).Any opinions or advice on such is welcomed.

Hey everyone sorry for such a long time since updating, mental health went to shit so i stopped being online as much.Got it together now and figured we were due for an update.

Day 231? i believe of growing these, long since removed males, had to remove one flowering plant due to herming.

Furnance was out for a month and so the earlier growth is dark purple while the new growth on the buds is green so they look funky. They smell wonderful, like a stinky mango with a almost nutty smell underneath.

When i vaped the herm flower it maintained a mango like taste and also had a taste i cant place thats almost perfumey and actually triggers an olfactory response(something to do with my grandparents, very fuzzy memory from when im younger) so thats something cool and unexpected.

No clue how much longer these have to go but im gonna finish them out, already collected several hundred seeds from them as well.

I'll likely update monthly unless some major growth happens with the buds

happy to be back

Good work! You did better than me. I didn't get any to finish really. They just faded out and seemed weeks early

Thanks

Honestly once i switched to flower i had all sorts of issues at first, messing with light cycle and lowering my nutrients to almost nothing has got them slowly looking better and better.

This was primarily a seed run and eventually in the future im likely gonna do a strictly flower run just depending on how much i enjoy the seeded flower.

So appreciative for both of you opening up space in your gardens and lives to gorw these out. They are the most difficult to grow that I have ever experienced.

Thanks for sharing the seeds! It was humbling but worth it, alot like when I manually changed the tires on my scooter. So frustrating, but I got it done. Although the end result is better on the tires than the landrace sativas.

For my own understanding, I have been categorizing landrace type sativas in two categories. 1- a somewhat worked probably hybridized at some point type. Does ok or even good indoors. And 2- an unworked wild type, long flowering, finicky to do indoors.

This Mango Biche falls in category 2. Probably on the extreme end.

For comparison:

The Nevils Haze you gave me is more in category 1(although went a few extra weeks). Stretchy but manageable. Even a couple more indica fat bud phenos.

Original Haze had some pheno variation, and was closer to category 2 in growth pattern, but had some quicker phenos. Lacked flavor. Often my complaint with sativas. Not bad taste, but bland (compared to modern hybrids). This one out of everything is what I would explore more next fall.

New Caldonia (Ace) grew smaller generally speaking. Category 1. Every plant hermed to some degree. Unstable.

Destroyer, long full colas, category 1. Bad germ rate tho.

Double Jam (Jamaican x Jamaican from Kwik) was also category 2. Tough to get a finished product that looks decent.

Thai from Ace was uniform (worked line) but didn't give me finished buds that look or smell very good (I'll admit USER error or a steep learning curve, aka my mistakes). Cat 2.

I'd love to be in a tropical region and be able to play more with these. But in the future I'll be looking more for worked sativa lines that will play nice for lack of a better explanation. Except Original Haze, I'd run those again and pick fast phenos.

Yeah for a minute i was wondering if i lost my touch.Definitely has needs unlike anything I've grown.

I honestly think after this run im going to do a seconary run on these in the future but unseeded,i really wanna try and ace this strain eventually.

I think my next indoor is gonna be the original haze thats been burning a hole in my seed vault. And then after that mango biche again.

Thanks again for sharing those seeds, I've had a lot of fun trying to improve my skills with this one

Chopping at 225 ish days of flower.Could have let it go a bit longer but I'll be visiting Amsterdam in a few weeks and wanted time to dry and start a cure before i go.

Was a difficult but enjoyable grow.Smells absolutely lovely.Once it dries anyone who wants seeds is welcome to message me.

thanks again to DopeDaniel for the seeds.
