A good plaster job should get you around 20 + years. It wont be pretty but it will contain water. Some of the staining could possibly be acid washed. Either with a acid brush, wich pumps acid down to the head or you can lower the ph in your pool and scrub them. Depends on the stain. If its rust and looks to be in lines that is the rebar. If closer then 3 inches to the surface of the gunite it will bleed threw. Tend to see that on walls more then floors. Also a citric acid like stain eliminator might do the trick. If you dont care about it be super crisp looking I'd say you should be good for a bit. Especially if you dont have any tile falling off or anything.
Well that is great news. I don't mind the stains ( they are not rust stains). Think i will get it re caulked this fall. The last caulk job only lasted 2-3 years before cracking really bad. I know it was a two part compound they mixed on site.

Caulked as in? We use sl1 self leveling for all horizontal expansion joints and np1 on vertical surfaces and for coping stone grout lines for some pools. Anything inside the pool should be 100% silicone. The 2 part stuff is ok but as you said it gets hard. Flexibility is key in caulk.

Sl1 is no joke tore apart a 12 year old waterfall during a gunite rehab and inside the rubbery outside was still wet. So if it ever cracks it literally heals itself. when it was cut what was inside seeped out and set up. On that rehab pool was fine besides a leak in the hot tub is what started it but they wanted a new look. $78,000 dollar rehab. I'll dig up pics

The caulking joint (or expansion joint) were the deck meets the coping. It is almost 1 inch wide.

Yes have them use sl1, it's a nightmare to use. Windy days is a no go, you also have to be aware of the air in the tube, it makes for popping tons of air bubbles with a razor knife lol. Also once you start there is no stopping. But it wont need redone.

Very good thank you . If by chance the company that i used before ( caulking unlimited) will not use the sl1 should i find one that will? I like the thought of it lasting longer . It has been done 3 times previously.

Yes a lot of concrete companys use it. I'd try and find someone who has used it just so they know about it. Also poking the air bubbles is big. If not they will pop later and just collect dirt and look bad. We have had durs use it in the past and made a ungodly mess. I loath caulking and have done it a lot. Untill we found a painter who is super anal about his work and that's what we like lol.

Formed and poured some steps yesterday. Always used hardboard to form since I can rip to 7 1/2 but since covid it's become extinct ? so started using pvc board that's only 6" as long as elevation set to multiples of 6 no biggie but I think ima make the change. They make one hell of a outside corner. 20200925_103314.jpg 20200925_103323.jpg 20200925_145736.jpg 20200925_145825.jpg

Havent stopped by in a while do you get many request for stamping ? That has really caught on out here , color has too our company had switched to liquid color it seems to be easier to handle than the powder especially on small cleanup loads like 3 yards or less

Browsed through here, nice work my man! I also sling mud....drywall mud! Been finishing for 20 years now. Your comment about doing certain things by yourself because you want it done right hits home with me. There’s certain things that I have to tell my partner, “here man, I’ll get that. Why don’t you go over there and coat that...”

How many yards was that pour? I'm gonna guess and say about 20. Been a minute since I've been around mudslingers tho.
Nice call, It was 16. Would have been a little less but 8 inches deep around the cover box. Gotta love the mud!

100%, I always get told by people they will never learn if they cant try...its like fuck man you cant use that shovel right let alone a float and trowel...it takes time for some things. Also respect on the drywall. I'm super anal and only done it on my house....slow as fuck :p. Have the lights off with the flashlight marking spots. She is always saying it's good enough....but I can see it lol.

Rain day today so went and finished up coping stones on the cover box to finish the pool.

They had "there own" concrete guy....who I unfortunately never got to meet. A couple people that work with us said how he claimed to build pools on the side and how he would do things...well here is his magnificent work.

Nice straight drains and forms.... 20210517_122628.jpg 20210517_122652.jpg 20210517_135922.jpg 20210517_135043.jpg 20210517_135246.jpg
And a amazing caulk job to finish it up

last time I checked you tend to cut joints through anything that is inside the concrete....it will crack off the deck jets skimmers hand rails basketball hoop and volleyball anchors. I give it a year will post pictures then haha. 20210517_135148.jpg
Icing on the cake they waited months without a deck to get this guy because hes one of the best.....hah
