Sometimes if you really want quality it's the only one you get to pick too. Can't rush perfection, and it won't be cheap. But customers don't seem to get that, especially in my industry. Everyone thinks fences should be cheap, but also perfect. They want my guys to be finish carpenters getting paid like Walmart greeters. I could go off today. I'm about ready to find a new profession.Price, speed, quality pick 2 lol deffinetly dont get price with us. But we tend to go above and beyond, try and make them feel good about the extra money.

Sting even more when they poured that around a $80,000 pool. Even worse you hop in the pool and get eye level with that rolled shit haha.View attachment 66697

I think we all are like this to some degree. Want raises because the cost of living goes up but bitch about the price for a gallon of milk or a pound of hamburger. As I get older I try and judge things by fairness. Is it a fair wage for a fair amount of work? Instead of paying fair wages for quick and dirty work like ole' wobble boards from the above post. If he was cheap then hey, that's what cheap looks like. They want my guys to be finish carpenters getting paid like Walmart greeters.
Nope...never...I am an electrician by trade...I had just watched it done before...that is also a 16" x 16" footer with steel inside of it and steel uprights to go into the courses...after 3 courses there is a steel bond beam that runs and is tied to the uprights, then they are filled with concrete...lol...I had my concrete guy here for a cookout and he checked it out...said damn...you over built that and do I want a job....well, since it almost broke my back doing all of it by myself...NO THANKS!@18B Hell ya man nice retaining wall!!, looks really good...by the looks of it you have laid block before? I've done a 7 coarse foundation but that's my extent of block laying.
By the looks of it I wouldnt have guessed it was your first time, you killed it man. On anything like that going the extra mile is sure worth it. We replaced wingwalls on a guys walk out basement. Whoever did it before didnt back fill correctly nor pin it to the house very well and it fell over one night. 12' tall 20' long it tapered down to 4'. We rebuilt it with multiple dead man, them walls will not fall lol. I'm sure the original would have lasted longer if they did a better job to drain the water behind it.Nope...never...I am an electrician by trade...I had just watched it done before...that is also a 16" x 16" footer with steel inside of it and steel uprights to go into the courses...after 3 courses there is a steel bond beam that runs and is tied to the uprights, then they are filled with concrete...lol...I had my concrete guy here for a cookout and he checked it out...said damn...you over built that and do I want a job....well, since it almost broke my back doing all of it by myself...NO THANKS!

You can see here how I tied it into an existing brick wall...I drilled holes and epoxied the steel in the brick wall to tie it in, then filled with concrete.

Very nice transition into the existing wall. Also for somebody not in the trade checked all the boxes on doing it right.
I have seriously neglected my pool last 2 years. Been working on the house past 5 years and finally about done with the inside and then move outside lol. The amount of time it takes while working with kids is unreal lol. I need to get it back going we have had kids in swim lessons past few years and there doing great swimming now. Plans on drain and new liner in spring and start fresh. I have called it Cess for the last couple years haha.Thank you kindly sir!
My kids were counting on me...they have friends over to ride horses, so a pool to cool off with was "the deal"...I kinda like it now too.
