Alright, figure it's time to kick off a journal here. While I work out the app I'm working on for tracking a whole bunch of shit, I need somewhere to log things (historically, forums have served as a good memory keeper), and while I've started one elsewhere, I'm thinking my time is going to be spent here more often. So, without further ado, gonna lay out some specs for what's goin' on and do some show and tell!

The strains I'm working with right now:
- Blackberry Moonshine BX1 from Dragon's Flame Genetics
- Love Stash F1 from Dragon's Flame Genetics
- Personal strain I refer to as "Nothing" - (OG Kush X Trainwreck) X (Mazar I Sharif X White Rhino)

Indoor:

- 4'x4'x76" tent
- 2x Growstar S600 LEDs
- AC Infinity T6 (en route)
- Sunshine mix #4
- Front-Row Ag Part A & Part B

Outdoor is still in development. I'll be running 5 - 7 plants outside, mixed with each strain listed above. A couple will be in a local fully organic soil, but most will be in sunshine mix #4. I'm also setting up a dutch bucket system outside that I'll detail as I get the final pieces together. The gist of it is two buckets filled with hydroton, matched to a 30 gallon res, recirculating. First real hydro run, so it should be fun!

Anyways, here's some pictures from a few days ago

These are nothing. They got a little pissed at me due to the intensity of the LEDs. They've mellowed out a bit since they've been outside, though.

Blackberry Moonshine BX1. Clones will be going outside, once these get big enough to provide.

IMG_20200509_191822.jpg

I threw four love stash beans in a shot glass last night and will be putting them in dirt this evening. Should get interesting here in a few weeks, but for now, this is it. Gonna be topping the nothing's this evening and keeping the tops as clones until sex is confirmed.

Really hoping I've got a mating pair here, out of 30 beans, only two sprouted this year, so while the two that are growing aren't the best breeding candidates, I don't want to lose this line entirely; almost seven years of work went into it and would be a shame to lose all that work. We'll see though.

Anyways, pull up a chair! Should get interesting soon -- first grow in over five years with all new equipment, different mediums, and all the fun stumbling blocks that come with trying new shit!

haha i actually built that for the closet I was using to start my veggie sprouts in. It's just wide enough and long enough to fit three 72 cup starter trays on.

Figured I'd use it for the hydro buckets too, but then I decided they're gonna be outside. May still end up using it for that, but it was built out of necessity, and to meet the three R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Just a quick update. Topped the nothing's a couple days ago and threw the tops in some sunshine 4. They got a little grumpy because I had a fan blowing in the office. They're perking back up now that I repositioned it to not be blowing directly at em. Thinkin' they're gonna root just fine still.

The blackberry moonshines are chugging along well. Still only-water diet, but they seem to be happy for going on like a week and a half or two since soil break. The love stash still haven't broken soil yet, but should be any day now that they decide to make their entrance.

AC Infinity T6 comes today, so I gotta run to the hydro shop and pick up some ducting, rockwool, and check out some carbon filters. Not sure why I'm even bothering looking at em though, the outdoor plants are gonna have the neighborhood smellin' awful strong this summer.

As promised, some updates of the outdoor. Think I'll end up writing a tek on building this dutch bucket system; don't see many of em of in cannabis. Mostly commercial tomato and cucumber growers.

Poppies also doing well
IMG_20200516_135708.jpg

This morning glory keeps gettin' eaten just as it starts to get going. Might have to treat with some neem or something. The poppies are untouched, but these poor things are making for someone's breakfast/lunch/dinner.
IMG_20200516_135715.jpg

Random artichoke. Not sure the pot's big enough for the legs, but hoping it'll produce next year. Started from seed over the winter.
IMG_20200516_135837.jpg

These are the logs that have been plugged with spawn. They're ready for another soak, just gotta make the time to get it done.

coste, if you haven't bought the ducting yet, I suggest you look at the black ducting available from AC Infinity. I just bought one and it is a lot better than the vivosun amazon specials, and just a few bucks more. I noticed AC Infinity also sells carbon filters now. I woulda bought some to try, but I still gotta go through the vivosuns that I got on sale for like $30. I still shamelessly use the second one I ever got in the garage a year later, just one filter sleeve change and that was it.

You won't be disappointed with AC Infinity fans if you haven't tried one yet. I bought a similar size vivosun and it was 10x louder at the lowest setting, resulting in a pitch that caused massive headaches for my GF.

I didn't shit or get off the pot with the AC Infinity ducting on Amazon, and now it's not available. I think Tuesday I was looking at it, and left the tab open. Yesterday, when I got back from ignoring Google and discovering the hydro shop was closed, I got home and tried to order it but no dice.

Sooo, gonna wait till tomorrow and make a run while on my lunch break.

Wanna get the second light burning soon, but will definitely need the exhaust fan running once that happens. Just in a three hour test with both lights on, the tent hit around 90F which doesn't make for happy gear or happy plants.

Check out the AC Infinity site itself. They have a notice about fulfilling Amazon orders, same prices, and shipping I believe is free as well. They had a 4/20 sale and I was able to grab another fan after they ran out of stock on the sale. I just emailed them and they gave me a special code for 20% off.

That's what I ended up doing, waiting for the ducting to arrive now. Surprisingly, even without the fan running yet, temps are staying around 77F and humidity about 63% mid day, so apparently keeping the office comfortable enough for me to work in it is also facilitating a decent enough environment for decent VPD as well.

Loving your setup man. Excited to follow along.

Thank you @Seed of Memory ! I took a hiatus from growing for about five years and am just ramping back up. So far I'm digging the new setup as well, though it is a bit of a time/money sink. Should see a good return on investment in a few months though :)

It is a money pit but money well spent. It balances. Glad to hear you got back in it though for real.

Apologies for the lack of updates. Work has me going excessive hours (if anyone can refer me to another software engineering position, that'd be great), and the kids are taking pretty much any time left over.

Received the ducting and got the 6" plumbed and the intake a bit better located. As a result, VPD has been all over the place. Running the fan at 3, but whenever the central air kicks on, temps drop to ~75F +/- 2F, and humidity gets all fucko. Gotta figure this one out. Thinking it's causing the twisting of leaves. But, there are also some purple petioles that indicate a slight P deficiency.

No one's been fed yet. The blackberry moonshines were up potted to 1gal sometime last week. Also got the four love stash's put into starter container. They're doing alright.

The nothing clones are being finicky bitches. One has for sure set roots, jury is still out on the other. It's definitely showing some nitrogen deficiency at this point -- probably due to abuse early on. They're still holding on though! No sex on the parent plants outdoors yet. They're probably getting close to ready for bigger pots as well. Should have some 7gal and 5gal smart pots arriving in the next day or two. Really hoping i don't miss the window to get a few more outside before it's too late but that may be the case. Not a big deal. Two plants for the first outdoor run should be fair enough, so long one of em is female.

I'll stop rambling and show you some pics now.

Oh, also picked up some GA3, so will be trying to pop a few more nothing beans. This round of popping them has me nervous. Last year seven popped, but due to having just moved and a lot of other conflicting interests none of the seedlings made it. Pulling out the big guns now.

Was about to get a vivosun fan, but hearing that I might get a ac infinity lol.

Just a quick update, I'll post pics later when the ladies are a bit happier. Let the pots dry out a bit so I could have a good gauge for weight when wet vs dry.

Gave everything in the tent their first feedings. ~0.9 EC @ 6.7 pH, fingers crossed the love stash was ready. Nothing is showing any signs of deficiency or anything yet, but the growth rates seem a little slower than I'd like. Still working out some other variables in the environment, my kid's humidifier can't get the humidity above 55% with the circular fan I have running. Time to upgrade I guess. Still having some temperature swings, but it is what it is. Will get it dialed in eventually.

Friday I up-potted the ladies outdoors to their five gallon homes. This round I threw a handful of EWC and a couple handfuls of vermiculite per gallon into the sunshine mix. They've responded well so far, and I hit them with 1oz fish fertilizer with 1/2 oz liquid kelp. They're definitely happy about that.

Not trying to grow monsters out there so they'll live in those for the rest of the season. Need to start doing some LST, so I need to get to the store and pick up some butterfly clips so I have something non-destructive to tie down to on the smart pots.

One clone officially rooted and is starting to make moves again, so that's a plus. Might almost hit my goal of five to seven plants outdoors this year; if only I can get these babies to move a little quicker in the tent it'll happen. Probably another week before up-potting to the three gallon smart pots for the plants in the tent.

Think that's it for now.
