Probably old news to most, but I'm always tinkering w/ a new DIY mustache wax formula, and have ordered ingredients from Wholesale Supplies Plus.

They do have a resources page that might be of interest to the DIY crowd:

Looks good. I like and have thought about some of those products like shampoos. Gonna give a read tonight. Thanks man?

Got the Cherry Wine hemp decarbed

and in goes the GDP

I always use decarbed and the THC version is 11.6gms of GDP going in now for 30 minutes and I should have 10+ grams once finished.

You'll notice I do not break up the buds and I've left them as unmolested other than removing as many stems as possible. Learned this from making tincture. The alcohol, or in this case hot oil will slowly remove most of the desired cannabolids. Alcohol about 30 minutes, hot oil 3 hours.

Once the oil is liquefied

I can measure out 8oz per jar and get the extraction started?

I'm warning the oil in a Crock Pot in a water bath on high around 212F after about an hour and they'll cook in that 212F for 3 hours.

This is how I've been extracting in oil and butter and gotta tell ya I like my edibles a LOT stronger but this will be interesting to see how the different amounts effect the end products.

I'm working up a quart of pain cream today. I added some extra corn starch and more essential oils to the last recipe. I am going to try frothing it up with my immersion blender just before I put it in jars. Hoping to make it creamier and lemonier. Here we go!!!!!

So I was stoned, go figure, eh? and put all the bud that was in the foil in 8oz coconut oil, both the THC & CBD? But, and I do mean BUTTHEAD, I added 2 more ounces of coconut oil raising the total to 10 ounces to equal out the 10 grams of flower. I can add 50/50 plain coconut oil to make the sauve 0.5 gms per oz of oil? I knew math would come in handy someday except that x + y = WTF and I don't give 2 shits. Never needed algebra, geometry yes. So here we are at about 2 hours in, timer just clicked to 2:21 so 40 minutes to go and I'll have 16 or so ounces (I lose some oil I can't get out of the plant material) of infused coconut oil. There's about a half plus ounce loss. It is what it is and I want zero plant material in the finished product so I'll live with the loss. I'll be straining through a coffee filter and 2 different sized metal strainers.

When I finish collecting my infused oil, I add back 1/2 cup of my infused oil into 1-2 zips of the material I just drained, hit it hard with an immersion blender and make brownies with it. Nothing gets wasted, except me ?

Hey Gang,
It's nice to see this thread taking off.
I have been making the topical 'lotion' for a while now.
Always seems to really help my friends that are in pain.
I just infused some coconut oil today. I used 24 grams of three different products.
Hemp flower, Bruce Banner flower and AK-47 flower in 3 cups of oil.
So, approximately 3 grams per oz of oil. 2 grams THC to 1 gram CBD.
I started off with just CBD flower but then added different ratios of CBD to THC flower. Still playing around with it.
I have found that the addition of the tapioca flour and the whipping while chilling really improves the texture of the finished product.
I'm interested to see where @PlumberSoCal goes with the ratio of flower to oil experiment. He's right, maybe there is a saturation point, and more flower is just a waste.

BTW, I know everyone has their own methods, but I have found I prefer to DeCarb in the Mason jars themselves.
I pre-heat oven to 230* F, put sealed jars on oven rack on their sides, time for 25 min, pull out and shake, put back in oven for another 25 min, and pull out to cool.
It doesn't eliminate the smell of Decarbing, but it does help.

Cheers All,
WillieP

Done and cleaned up! My wife found some disposable 4oz serving cups with lids. I will give half of these to friends and others. Works as promised! A little less greasy, nice absorption (y) .
I'll continue making smaller batches as I do my best to personalize. My next will have THC added, probably 25% should give an indication of any improved effects.

I only got the coconut oil extraction yesterday
20221225_065323.jpg
and today added 4 oz oil to 4 oz CBD extract oil making the mix 0.5 gms flower of Cherry Wine hemp per 1 oz oil.

I currently have the mix in the crock pot on high and have added 1/4 Cup bees wax, 1/8 Cup EVOO, 1 Tbl corn starch and 1 tsp Vitamin E oil.

If this works as well as the other sauves I've made this will be the recipe I'll be using in the future.

I've got an electric hand blender I'll use as soon as the bees wax is liquefied and then pour into jars.

It looks like you have this well at hand.
I'm just throwing out what I have found to work well for me...
After I get everything melted down and mixed together, I place the mixing bowl in the fridge for 5 min intervals.
I pull it out and mix well with a hand mixer, then back in the fridge for another 5 min.
(lather, rinse and repeat...) Until the it is completely cool and light and fluffy.
With mine I can tell it is aeriated well by how the color lightens up.
I use a spoon and spatula to put mine in 4 oz mason jars. My batch makes 5 jars worth.
I hope you find a recipe and method that works well for you.

Good Luck Partner.
Cheers,
WillieP

Making another 12+ ounces for some friends 50/50 THC/CBD? and 8oz peanut oil for cooking. Both have battled cancer?

I really like what I see after a good blend of the sauve. Will probablyĺ l0stick with this recipe but will log any issues, likes and dislikes.

Tonight will be it's first use. CBD only sauve. This could potentially get me out of the physical grind. I'm tired of killing myself?

This could end up being the best Christmas ever?

When you've read as many recipes as I have and weighed all the plus and minus variables I'll take any advice from those who have gone before me
2I0Lov4ZhHySjhMOh2P9ZV4MoKLTyo.jpg
and listen close. Did the cooling/mixing make it lighter/fluffier?

I'm about ready to add the vitamin E and corn starch to the last 8oz of the THC/CBD 50/50 sauve and fire up the hand blender.

Imagine the difference between whipped butter and regular butter.
Two totally different textures.
Yep, makes that big of a difference. (At least to me it does)
If ya try it, let me know what ya think.
Good Luck,
WillieP
Hey @WillieP I think I forgot to mention the whipping element, sorry. I now do the aeration with my immersion blender. I keep the head in a jar of hot water, which keeps the mixture from sticking to it as much. Mix for 45 seconds, put the head back in hot water, wait 5 minutes and repeat. Continue until it gets too cool to work with. Now, jar it!

That's cool. I hadn't thought to try an immersion blender.
I happen to start with a regular hand blender and have always just stuck with that.
Good thinking!

I too have and use an immersion blender and whipped the resulting sauve before jarring and we both like the finished product. While I didn't whip, rest, whip, repeat, just the one time blended everything together very well, especially the corn starch.

Last night my wife experienced no pain in her feet so I've got a recipe that works and not near as greasy. Time to extract the majority of the 2 hemp plants I've got curing.

Decarbed 1 oz Cherry Wine hemp (I've been reading it takes longer to decarb CBD) and gave this batch 45 minutes at 250F. Knowing 30 minutes has produced very good results in the past 45 should be better although there will be some debarb happening during the oil extraction
20221226_142524.jpg
I'm doing a 1gm to 1oz oil with 2 12oz jars of hemp and 1 with GHam and a small jar 2 to one GHam for caps. I went through and grabbed all the lowers off of 2 plants harvested and curing for several weeks. Very nice smoke, should make good caps?

I still have 100+ ounces of oil, 1 Cherry Wine hemp plant curing about 1 1/2oz. 4 more have been flipped but won't be harvested for about 2 months and a lot of indica dominate bud to go through so I'll be making more of everything.

While I was making another batch of the topical ointment, I thought to snap some photos to illustrate the before and after.

Just out of the first round in the fridge. Starting to set up around the edges.
IMG_1061D.JPG

Whipped the first time, still warm.
IMG_1062.JPG

Whipped the third time, mostly chilled.

Finished product...

I keep the excess in the fridge and bring it out to room temp when using a jar.

So far, so good.

My only issue with the cream is that it works so well, I forget to apply it in the AM. I rub it in well at about 9 PM and the pain comes back the following Noon. Not a problem issue. The problem is getting me to remember to apply it when I wake. Maybe I'll add it to my wake and bake routine (y)
