CCR........they had what 3 number 1 albums in one year and outsold the beatles thru 1969-70. In fact since the beatles were mentioned I'd like to say that nobody I knew really cared for them. They were not rock. Did they do some drugs.yes..but rock and roll rolled right over them. And they quit at their end of their run. CCR just got started and poof......she was gone. So what was the potential for CCR going forward. We all lost out......the songs still plat today...how many peeps are playing the beatles, lol.
It's becoming evident my luck is pretty much exclusive to random number generators...?
You’re right CCR was easy to play. Same w AC/DC. Sadly I don’t play anymore cuz, well, life ? I really should try n pick it up again, it’s been YEARS and it was therapeutic. This reminds me of a guy that played lead guitarist for some guys I hung out w once waaaay back in the day. They were trying to play Sweet Child o’ Mine and on the intro he’d play a second’s worth then mess up and say wait wait wait and do it over n over. All the other band members were all ?? they eventually just gave up and played AC/DC lol ?You find 10 music lovers and likely find 11 passionate opinions.
The one thing I give major credit to CCR for is accessibility. Every high school band of the day could cover 90% of CCR's catalog of 3 chord tunes after a couple of weeks of lessons. Add in a minor chord now and then - usually then - and you're up close to 100%.
Neat contest, and congrats to @Gentlemancorpse .

hit me up with your seed choices and also your shirt sizeWell hot damn, Merry Xmas to me! Thanks @Willie, that was a fun game!
I get genuinely angry when the chinese place forgets my hot mustard, and CCR was definitely the worst break up on that list, but I cant say I agree on the milk and salty foods ones, especially when its hot out lol

I did a lot of rooting for Montana and the 49'ers back then.I’m not in the contest but for football purposes, late 80s-early 90s Niners. Montana to Rice like WTF. But yes 85 Bears unstoppable, IDK how they had one loss that year.
Yes there are different opinions but I never figured it was their chord choices and their ability to be played by amateurs was even a criteria. Obviously their success proves how popular they were. CCR had 14 consecutive top 10 songs. In 1969 they produced 3 hit albums....3. They were a band for 4 years and a number 1 draw at the gate. They headlined woodstock.
I mean these guys from CCR are the "garage band era", so hard to fault them for chords. Especially when it was the lyrics and vocals that propelled them forward not their chord choice. In fact those lyrics and vocals were actually part of the downfall when Fogerty decided that his shit didn't stink and that the band members were not "equal" I mean, obviously they were not equal members in terms of talent.
Their simple music is still being played.....I'll hear Creedence on the radio quite often some 50 years later. So I do think we were ripped off......ripped off from their potential. They never played again together.
"In 1969 alone, CCR released three hit albums and had four hugely successful singles, an accomplishment that would double as a career for many bands"
I can't remember the last time I heard a Beatles song on the radio, but I think I have most of their albums,...just nothing I reach for now...but CCR I will surely play.
Montana was just straight out great. 3 steps back then fire. Quick thinking with a good offensive line to protect him. There are better QBs than him now but back then he was the best. He didn’t have to throw a 17,000 mph fastball like Elway cuz his style was all about precision and finesse. Right on the money and easy to catch without needing a bulletproof vest. Zero INTs in the postseason and Super Bowls. Plus he had triple threat weapons, Rice, Taylor, Craig among others.I did a lot of rooting for Montana and the 49'ers back then.
'85 Bears were one and done. Great team, yes but Mcmahon came back to the next season fat. Still, they won 14 in '86 losing to the skins in the playoff. Two good years in a row but they could not capitalize on the 2nd bowl.
CCR had 14 consecutive top 10 songs.
I saw the movie, but never saw them in it, so I had to look up why?Google gave me this:They were a band for 4 years and a number 1 draw at the gate. They headlined woodstock.

That's impressive.
" By April 4, The Beatles occupied the top five slots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart simultaneously with “Can’t Buy Me Love“ at No. 1, “Twist and Shout” at No. 2, “She Loves You” at No. 3, “I Want to Hold Your Hand” at No. 4, and “Please Please Me” at No. 5 (“I Want to Hold Your Hand” and “She Loves You” had already hit No. 1 in earlier weeks)."

I saw the movie, but never saw them in it, so I had to look up why?Google gave me this:
"Disappointed by the lackluster reception and underwhelmed by his own band's performance, Fogerty refused to allow CCR's music to be included in the 1970 documentary movie and triple-album soundtrack. "
Good point. This particular lyric, some say, was life changing:
"Tambourines and elephants are playin' in the band
Won't you take a ride on the flyin' spoon? Dood-n-doo-doo"
I'm kidding, of course. But on the flip side, one of the best movies of all time was based on a book titled "Dog Soldiers". Starring Nick Nolte and Tuesday Weld, the title was changed to "Who'll Stop the Rain" and featured some CCR tunes. You probably knew that.
I can't remember the last time I listened to the radio.

Indeed! Personally, I find no fault in bands writing simple, catchy songs that are enjoyable. If difficulty to recreate was the sole way to judge the quality of music, Joe Satriani would rank amongst the greats, but I find most of his work kinda of boring even if it is technically impressive. You find 10 music lovers and likely find 11 passionate opinions.
