You find 10 music lovers and likely find 11 passionate opinions.

The one thing I give major credit to CCR for is accessibility. Every high school band of the day could cover 90% of CCR's catalog of 3 chord tunes after a couple of weeks of lessons. Add in a minor chord now and then - usually then - and you're up close to 100%.

Neat contest, and congrats to @Gentlemancorpse .

True story but Fogerty's voice made their sound unique. Loved those guys in the early 70's, owned a copy of Green River. Played it til it snapped and popped?

That's impressive.

" By April 4, The Beatles occupied the top five slots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart simultaneously with “Can’t Buy Me Love“ at No. 1, “Twist and Shout” at No. 2, “She Loves You” at No. 3, “I Want to Hold Your Hand” at No. 4, and “Please Please Me” at No. 5 (“I Want to Hold Your Hand” and “She Loves You” had already hit No. 1 in earlier weeks)."

I saw the movie, but never saw them in it, so I had to look up why?Google gave me this:
"Disappointed by the lackluster reception and underwhelmed by his own band's performance, Fogerty refused to allow CCR's music to be included in the 1970 documentary movie and triple-album soundtrack. "

Good point. This particular lyric, some say, was life changing:

"Tambourines and elephants are playin' in the band
Won't you take a ride on the flyin' spoon? Dood-n-doo-doo"

I'm kidding, of course. But on the flip side, one of the best movies of all time was based on a book titled "Dog Soldiers". Starring Nick Nolte and Tuesday Weld, the title was changed to "Who'll Stop the Rain" and featured some CCR tunes. You probably knew that.

I can't remember the last time I listened to the radio.

That's true. Fogerty realized he was much better and his voice was unique..... and that started the breakup. In the end, he screwed himself and his band mates pretty good and forever by his arrogance.

I should spend more time on YouTube but between here, twit and fb for my wife and a few old friends I'm good.

There are some seriously creative people in this world?
Late teens early 20's know a guy who could play guitar (couldn't read music) and sing and sound like the Beatles, all 4, James Taylor, CSN&Y, yeah, all 4 of them too and just about anybody else from the 50's on up to 77-80. Met him working together at Licorice Pizza. Nicest guy as well. Just drifted away over the years. I got married and he played gigs like everywhere. Never made it big as far as I know but fricken talented. We'd smoke and fry together many a night. Ate a whole bag of David and Son's sunflower seeds sitting at an elementary school and filled their empty fountain with seeds... I do regret that and have for some time but it was an awesome night... and the shit we'd discuss. Amazing times. Awe, to be young and idealistic instead of old and tired of all the bullshit in this world. But hey, that's just me?
