Got my new press in today. I wanted to create this thread so we could have a place to post techniques, and whatever else is relevant. I am still relatively new to pressing rosin so I am still learning. I started with the Rosineer Presso, then built a DIY Harbor Freight press with ebay plates, that simply wasnt reliable. I really wanted something that I could rely on, and also something that I could produce the same result over an over again, so I opted in for the pump jack with Gauge (Which has not arrived yet). The gauge will allow me to re-create the same pressure each time I press. I havent really been able to get decent results every time because I was either getting blowouts from too much pressure from the Harbor Freight press, or the temps were not correct... Lots of lost flower... I am hoping that I will see a return in investment from this guy... It sure as hell wasnt cheap... image.jpg

Good stuff Jag!! Awesome piece of equipment.

One key thing , as its probably the most important: 62% RH

Here are some #'s that were gathered when I started:

Just to put this on here (Relative to Dabpress driptech 10ton)

2.25 is the coeff number relative to the cylinder on the press.

2.25 x PSI on the gauge = Total Force Delivered
Total Force Delivered / Surface Area of Material (sq/in) = PSI at the material
For flower - the suggested range is between 800-1200 PSI at the material.
For fine material – the suggested range is between 400-600 PSI at the material.

For a 1.75" cylinder shaped puck from using 30mm pre-press mold, 2.4 sq/in at 1500 PSI you need 3600 pounds of pressure.

1593 PSI on gauge = 14.5 x 112 = 1633kg = 1.8 tons = 3600 pounds

For a 2.5" cylinder shaped puck from using 40mm pre-press mold, 4.9 sq/in at 1500 PSI you need 7350 pounds of pressure.

3280 PSI on gauge = 14.5 x 230 = 3335kg = 3.67 tons = 7350 pounds

Thought that you went for the 4x7 12 ton model..No matter, the 10 ton rocks too! This was mine before I traded for the 4x7's

I went for the 3x5 just thinking I would be doing smaller presses most of the time... You know me Buzz, I'll just wind up doing it the hard way and ordering the 4x7 in 6 months loL

The gauge! Seriously man that will help out so much with the finesse part..you will not only feel where the rosin is at but see the pressure thats happening at..... good stuffs...
