These seeds were from a purchase at the Real Seed Company

Description

Genetics: ‘Deep Chunk’ (Californian – Afghan Hindu Kush)
Type: Pure Indica-type
Indoors: c. 56 days
Outdoors: September
Classification: C. sativa subsp. indica var. afghanica

This is a Spanish continuation of the original Tom Hill Deep Chunk, a renowned true-breeding Indica-type strain with roots in the Afghan Hindu Kush. Work has been done to remove weak plants and ‘mutants’. The original landrace from which Deep Chunk was inbred is said to have been introduced to Northern California in the late 1970s. Crucially, it’s believed to have never been outcrossed.

Deep Chunk is known for its fast flowering time, thick stems, short internodes, and excellent resin production. It’s a classic Indica that produces copious leaves and broad leaflets. Buds are dense and yield earthy, herbal aromas, including hashy pine, citrus, coffee, and chocolate. A weakness is its susceptibility to botrytis. A strength is its knock-down potency.

True-breeding for many traits, this is an archetypal Indica that’s earned a reputation as an excellent breeding plant. In an era when Cannabis genepools are becoming ever-increasingly homogenized through hybridization, pristine inbred lines such as this should be in the collection of every serious grower and breeder.

Keeping heirlooms in their pure form over the coming decades is a wise choice that is sure to benefit both people and plant.

NOTE: Initial testing of this batch of seeds has shown +90% viability. In Deep-Chunk-3-768x723-1.jpg cidentally, plants from which this batch was produced showed strong uniformity across the population.

Did the seeds come from 'The Real Seed Company'? They called the strain "Freak Chunk (Deep Chunk)".
I don't like the name "Freak Chunk" so I've been calling the strain I got from them "Deep Chunk (Freak Chunk)"
Mine look very much like your Deep Chunk. And all my plants are very similar.
From growing many Deep Chunk (Tom Hill's) hybrids, I can see the similarities in form.

This was the first good flower I smoked when I was way back in high school, 95 methinks. I'll never forget it. I got it from an older guy who my dad had been getting smoke from for years and he said "boy, you can't have any of this, it'll turn you into a man with one toke." Lmao. My dad called it his chunky monkey lmfao (rip dad) What it did do was get me so high I decided not to go home that night and I slept in the woods at my fort. So high for so long. Deep chunk is epic. I would love to experience that again.

Yeah, a lot of older varieties we're good like that. 70's and 80's. The newer stuff not so much it seems to me.
Of course everything was grown outdoors back then, in the forest or in the greenhouses but outside.
We'll see what we can find here!

The old man grew it somewhere out back. All I knew is if I went near that back door I got yelled at lmao. All of my most memorable stones are from pre 2000. The bud was great if you knew a guy or gal and being a young buck my tolerance was super low. Now I can smoke a whole top shelf dispensary 8th and eat a half gram of rso per day and it doesn't faze me. We need that good ole days shit back for sure! Thanks for you and everybody else who does these preservation projects!

The preservation threads always get me excited when I see a new post. What you guys do for the cannabis community is probably one of the most important things to me as it concerns cannabis. Generations of new growers will be able to work with and experience these strains because of y'all and for that I am very grateful.
