Dirtbag pops a tent ?

This should be a fun project. Im downsizing temporarily for my next grow to simplify the process a bit and make life easier. A few plants in a tent is just going to be easier to manage than 16 plants in a room, my res should last me a week and a half compared to 3 days, not to mention the power savings. I'll be running a newer model SF4000 in a 4x4x6.5' tent and honestly just from the looks of it, I'm kind of impressed by the light so far, especially the diode layout.

I won't have things setup for a week or two, but when I do I'll update my progress here. As a 20+ year HID grower I'm curious to see how I feel about the results. Tentative plan thus far is to run either 4 or 9 plants in it. If I go 4 plants I'll do 3" delta blocks on unislabs and if I do 9 plants I'll just use 4" delta blocks. Likely gonna run Wedding crasher again.

Dig this diode layout, they're concentrated in the corners to improve the light spread. Has an external on/off and dimmer functions and daisy chain capability. 20210817_140235.jpg 20210817_140238.jpg 20210817_140948.jpg 20210817_141000.jpg Screenshot_20210804-164711_Samsung Internet.jpg

I also need to be upfront and say that I did not pay for this gear, i reached out to the company and it was supplied to me in exchange for a review of it, however this particular journal is not my official review for them. This is just me sharing with you what I'm up to, because I thought some HID growers on this site might find the results as interesting as I will. And I'll be honest about what I think of the results. My main motivation for reaching out to Spider farmer for sponsorship is that this is an affordable way to add a quantum board to my room to burn along side my HID lights later on in the winter. I hadn't planned on growing again until Nov or so anyway, so If a grow cycle in a tent now gets me there... awesome, and I'll have extra weed. ?

Just wanted to get that out of the way.

,,, is like a dirtbag-tiger in a cage.

I will take this journey with you, Dirt, if the path leads back to the Crystal Palace. ?
You know it. And it'll be better than ever. I'm hoping to review an SE5000 next if this review goes well. In that case I would be able to eventually have 2k HPS, a 450w quantum board and a 450w bar LED in the room. Then I can run a flatter canopy and greatly increase production with minimal heat increase, my ventilation system could easily handle it all. It would put my entire 8x8 footprint in the 1000 ppfd range from corner to corner where it should be. I'm lucky to break 500 on the edges as it is now with the 2 HPS in the middle of the room. And that makes feeding them all from the same res a challenge, the plants on the outside just don't eat as much.

And I'm cheap af, so spending a couple thousand on lights didn't appeal to me much lol. But I'm actually curious to see how scaling down will affect yield density, and how the change in spectrum affects growth characteristics and bud quality. Genuinely curious. And gaging that stuff by using it alone in the tent first is really the best way to experiment I think. Though, I have no doubt that these LEDs will perform better when running along side an HPS where the plants can benefit from both spectrums.

I meant no disrespect , fren.
Allow me to explain,,,
My wise old Scrabble partner once told me an important step in any relationship is to take a tour of the friend's home. This way when you are alone, or apart from the acquaintance , you have the luxury of imagining them- in their home.
Just as I picture @High kev , with his crown on.
Dirtbag, in his palace.

Anywho, dripping with green jeally over here.
You are very in-tune with your charges. I look forward to your observations.

@Dirtbag hey man free light to review things..sounds like a great idea to me.

And i never noticed how they make the diodes go closer together on the edges...that is pretty damned smart actually !

One Drop is running a couple of spider farmers and he is rocking them..they are great lights. The playing field is really leveling out now.

Agreed. Samsung isn't pumping out a lot of poor diodes anymore I don't think. And really it's just robots assembling those and a couple drivers on a piece of aluminum.. its not rocket science engineering but the quality of components has really leveled off.

I'm stoked on it. I'm sure there are more expensive lights with tuned spectrums but I'm interested to see how this relatively affordable board performs, and if I think its suitable for a home grower to produce their own mods with. A fun experiment.

Yeah...I still right now...am using a magnetic ballast, 1000w HPS hortilux, Raptor 6" hood n glass...I have electronic ballasts etc...it's just the one I grabbed and it's still hanging in there.
Always looking for options and a great way is peer reviews...thank you brother for exploring options for us.

You bet, I appreciate the interest. And yeah as a long time HID grower this is a completely new thing for me, so I'm genuinely both nervous and excited to see how it performs. ?

Also decided I'm going to seal off my ventilation system and blast Co2. Why not since I can easily keep temp and humidity in check in my 8x8 room this tent is in. Just have the 4x4 centered in the middle and poly off the ceiling to make the room a bit smaller.

As I've posted elsewhere... so far, I've gotta say this setup is pretty pimpin. Can't wait to see what driving it hard does.

I'm doing a very similar journal but for mars hydro also doing the sponsored thread on another forum but another non sponsored journal here that I can say how I really feel I have a growmie running a sf4000&4x getting good results you're gonna be happy with this

Nice, I've actually decided to scrap the tent. I'm going back to my 8x8' room but I'll still use the SF4000 plus SF is sending me an SE5000 as well so I'll run them both side by side, and also have my 2x 1K HPS in there too. It's gonna be Lit.
