Disk Space Issues

Just to let you all know, I was made aware that uploads were having issues. When looking into it, I found that are disk is almost full, so I will be taking a look to see what we can archive. It seems that the space jumped significantly last week.

So figured it out. There was apparently a manual user backup ran last week that was stored on disk, rather than the remote storage set up for it. Profile backups locally were removed, and will be assessing additional space for remote backups.

if its the journals using too much space for images feel free to let me know to clean it up and put a maximum size on files. else happy to chip in for remote hosting fees.

Should be a lot better now. I am not currently seeing any performance related issues. The issue we had were that profile backups were being stored locally, rather than in the remote backup repo. Some of them were quite large. Got that sorted out though. Onward!

If you switch from gzipped tarballs, to Bzip2, you can squeeze a little more out of them. I had to fit a movie collection on disk, and ended up using Bzip2 with the highest level. Took forever lol.

Just to let you all know. We will be migrating to a dedicated server from VPS infrastructure. The schedule is going to be a tight one. We need to migrate over by 6/8 to same some dollars. In the meantime we are going to have set the site to maintenance mode while backup and restore takes place.

Apologies for the inconvenience all, and the condensed timeline. Site will go in maintenance mode at 10:30am EST

The migration looks to have completed, DNS records have been updated, but they say it could be up to 24 hours. Please ask if you see or experience any issues. OMG Way to go!!! I'm so sorry I should've warned you moving tons small files takes bloody forever via robocopy/rsync even if overall usage isn't that large. Happy to be home!
