DIY pH probe storage solution

Figured I would post this simple extremely cheap storage solution for pH probes. As for some reason they seem to charge a fortune. The expensive part i believe is the preservative but since its so cheap and easy to make there is no need to purchase it as you can just make a new batch. The benefit of this is prolonged life of the probe. Ever have a PH probe that takes longer and longer to get a stable reading or have to calibrate more and more often? Well improper storage is likely the reason.

1gram potassium chloride (KCl) mixed into 100ml of distilled water or more ideally pH 4 buffer if you have.

Now depending on the source of potassium chloride you may have difficulty getting 100% dissolution rates. Its not critical and lets be honest how many of us even use a proper storage solution? so if the solution becomes saturated and you can't dissolve any more then your good to go.

$10/lb and will last you and your grandchildren's grandchildren's lifetime for pH storage solution. Don't think link is working. for some reason I can never post links

Link is working. It may be your browser, do you have ad block? Some ad block apps block amazon links.

aqua, how long does a probe last on a guardian that's just dunked and on all the time? and what about the TDS probe, it's hardwired, doesn't that ever need to be replaced?
Depending on quality and solution at least a year but can be much longer. Using calibration fluid every so often you can kinda tell when they are starting to crap out.

A TDS meter needs no storage solution it just measures electeical conductivity. When the batteries be low they can get all fucky sometimes.

Do you know why it is that when comparing a guardian to a combo meter, that they're never nuts on, pH or PPM? Even if I swap the probes.
