Drying and curing

Trying to pick some brains here. I'm not far away (well some aren't) from finishing. My first grow in 20 odd years so my mind is second guessing itself all the way through from start to finish.
I used to hang them in my insulated shed in total darkness for about 2-3 weeks with a fan pushing air around. Never had a problem. That shed never got above 20 degrees in summer or below 16 in winter. What is the consensus now in regards to drying and curing your plants. I see some guys wet trim and hang on clotheslines. Some wet trim and hang in baskets.some hang plants like I used to.

What's your advice guys and gals.

This and I try to keep it around 60 degrees and 60 percent hum. Sometimes it tuff to get it that slow but if I can trim in at least 10 days I'm happy and the terps will be there . ?
I do this (plus) as well, but cut the plant into washable branches, do a dunk wash (5gal bucket) with either lemon juice/baking soda OR H2O2, 2 dunk rinses, then 7-14 days hanging depending on the season (fluctuation range typically RH between 45-60 and temps between 60-77f) - then onto a dry trim, now in this case hand trimming the tops and running everything else through the Risentek.

As far as curing... My cure game is weak, working on it. I want to trim and jar it up around 75% RH then put it into my auto burper I made a few weeks ago, currently burps 1 minute 4 times a day to start, thisll be the first time using it so Ill have to dial a bit at first, should have product being burped in a few weeks.

Once it gets to 60-65% Ill jar it up sealed with a single Integra 62% and single Boveda 65%, amber Ball half gallons for storage.

Do you get any rot dunking them after harvest? We are just into autumn. Harvest will be staggered. Some ready in a couple of weeks, some in a month and final 3 are 8-9weeks away. Still warm here but last few will be nearly winter here. So many methods nowadays. It's hard to work out what's best. I thought the old school way was best and protected the trichomes as long as possible, however I'm not sure of much anymore. My outdoor was easy as 1,2,3. I still questioned myself there aswell.

Not in my climate, but I live in a rather dry area. I also keep a ceiling fan they hang under on low (52" ceiling fan on low moves a lot of air over a wide area, gently) for the first day of hang (I say day, but really its just till they stop dripping). They hang in my grow room (not spaces) and that room is kept dark and cool. Ive read folx say that budwashing reduces their hang times, but I have no first hand knowledge or comparisons. As far as preserving the trichomes, water temp is key, cold water makes them brittle, hot water makes them sticky, so its gotta be tepid. I wash my outdoor always, and its disgusting, I live over here where every year my state and a few others around it decide to catch fire, so Im dealing with ash and smog... The indoor gets washed mostly for dust and gnats that get caught up in the trichs.

As an anecdotal observation, I had a 30:1 Dr. Seedsman plant that I took down months ago, right around Yule... sometime just before New Years, its been hanging in that room since last night, the wifes health took a turn and I just never got to it, ultimately called it a loss and was gonna tincture it all. Well that Risentek showed up yesterday and I figured Id run the material as a test since I thought this CBD flower was a wash... Took me 15 minutes to turn this (what I thought was dry af) into 2 zips of CBD. Again I was just running material that I thought was no good, to test the trimmer... Checked it this morning and its sitting at 58%, not dusty at all, still got that good chewiness to it, so in my opinion it all comes down to holding your temps and humidity, in the dark.

Same harvest, same room, same day, same fan... This is how I do it every time now, used to dry in cardboard boxes, got sick of storing boxes.

I've got 3 plants been hanging for 4 weeks now, keep a humidifier in a 4x8 tent set at 60 and just let the temps chill wherever this time of year that's about 40 to 65 and there still just now getting to the cracking stem stage, I'll trim when they feel crunchy on the outside then jar up and burp once a day for a week then once a week for 3 weeks then they get a boveda 58rh and storage seems to work great, nice slow dry is great imo

Burp means let the air out.

I wet trim , hang for as long as I can. I want to jar it in the 70% range and can guess that fairly accurately.........then burp as needed, but I want it to go slow in the jar from the 70's down to the low 60's. When it's down to 62% it gets a boveda. No bro science, just a bunch of very terpy jars here. :)

I would only recommend wet trimming for you if you know it's going to have a problem drying inside of ten days. If you know it will dry inside of that time or definitely inside of three or four days, I'd definitely recommend dry trim to slow down the dry a bit. If that makes sense? I know you may be unsure since you haven't dried in a while so I would go dry trim for the first. Hard to keep the leaves back on with glue after you've already cut them off. ? Just my two cents. Also, keep air refreshing the area, but don't have much if any really, breeze on the plant. Also, for the first one, I'd hang the whole plant. Again, if three or four days go by, you can start to separate the branches to speed it up a bit. Again the glue doesn't set up easily when you try to glue them back together. ?? Again, just my opinion, for what it's worth. I'm all ears if you have any other questions my friend. Good luck, and im very stoked for you for making it to this point on the first one in a while.

This works great, but it's so vital to stay on top of it at this stage. A little too long without a burp/air exchange and you are throwing out moldy bud. (Don't ask me how I know. Just lost another jar last week. ??)

Agreed, especially if you're not familiar with the drying room. Each one has its own personality. I try to use the same area each time as by this point I know exactly how it reacts, with how much in it, and what time of year. All of those factors are definitely influencers to the process. But one thing is for sure, you can make or break a grow in the dry/cure.
