Electrical expansion

I wanted to start a thread concerning adding external power service to an extra area.
I.e. for a new grow space or room.
Some just treat this project as no more important than runnin an extension cord of sorts to the new area, it may be romex but basically "not right".
Electricity doesn't get "more" just by adding a new breaker. You only have at your meter box what is handled by your main breaker. That may be 100 amp up to 200 amp in residential settings.

I'll be back, I'm headed out back to add 125 amp service to my back shop this mornin.

You been looking at my work? What you didn't see I have said drop cord cut and wired into the breaker box. ? is "that right"? It has its own breaker.

I would benefit from this thread greatly.

I 100% did my sub panel in my room was actually pretty easy, 3 gauge 55amp per strand from my inlet to my house box about 2 ft to the sub panel, wired it all in in about an hour, only catch is you have to unground the new panel and run a seperate ground rod and system for the new panel, gave me 3 more 20 amps and a 220 main to cut it all off

Yep, it's a piece of cake, if ya know what's right and what's wrong.
Very correct on the ground isolation @Gweedo's Growroom !
In the main panel/disconnect all grounds and neutrals are bonded together.
But if an additional panel is added in a seperate room or building, even though it's coming from the main box from that point forward each box must have grounds and neautrals seperate, on isolated buss bars.
The neutral will follow the line leads back to the panel and terminate there at the main buss bar.
Each additional ground will require it's own ground to earth.
One reason for this is that a short to ground could follow the neutral back to the buss which could energize the main cabinet, also will not allow you to connect gfci recepticles in the new room safely either.

Have any of youuns ever been shocked when ya touch a fridge or washer?
That's a open ground. Or a ground that isn't connected correctly.

Got that service hooked up at the main and dead at the breaker now.
Now to install breaker panel in the shop and get these service leads tied in.
I'm moving my milling machine from the inside shop to the outside one. It and the compressor use 60 amps. Then I'll have 2 20 amp lines for wall recepticles and a 15 amp line for lights.

LOL!

It's a super long story that I'll try to abbreviate, but back around 1992, I had cut off my hair and regretted it. My best friend told me he was thinking of growing his hair, and a coworker told him the local beauty college had and "electric comb" treatment that would grow your hair super fast - like 1.5 inches a month. It was $5 a treatment (bi weekly), so we beat it down there... Bottom line, my sessions were super short w/ the late 30's beautician to be, (we were both 21) and he got twice the time I did!! ... You guessed it - they were a an item in short order, and he had great looking hair, while I was unknowingly spiraling towards mail pattern baldness. The whole thing ultimately ended in tragedy, but the electric comb was exactly like your GIF!!! ????

Btw, the comb looked like the one below. Felt like tiny needles pricking your scalp.
