Ethanol Extraction

Lots of jars in the freezer awaiting filtration, I haven't gotten around to cleaning the glass frits in my buchner funnels yet the de clogs em up good, I read some kind of acid is needed just been busy as hell with work and being daddy nanny homeschooling my boys, winter time I'm guessing is gonna be my major learning curve, I need about 5 more gallons of everclear, that's got me wanting to build a small still, another project for the list definitely ???

Finally got my ass in gear and busted the source back out, did a 600ml run in 2 batches yesterday the wash was about 10 rosin pressed bags of kief soaked for 2 days, made one pass through the Diomatacous earth in my buchner setup, ended up with about 40 grams of whatever the shit was RSO or FECO lol it wasn't mine ??? the stuff stained one of my silicone mats and left a hellacious stink on the thing that 99%iso can't remove ??? after cleaning it all out I did a run of my cherry pie trim from way way back when, it's been washed and in my deep freeze for months, I added some BVV charcoal to the jar and shook it twice in 3 mins, it totally removed the green tint it had, it was barely visible but I noticed it was gone right away, I then ran that jar through the buchner DE setup and ran it through the source
???

I'm 100% sure I can get a newer batch of fresh product to run way cleaner than this batch, that trim was not exactly well taken care of ???
I've got Dinoberrybites,Skunky va,g-funk,and purple Betty sugar trim that's actually jar cured with bovedas, should have this stuff down pat by the time I'm done ???

Made some more progress with my extraction tek, figured how to completely wash my stuff like color remediation to the tenth lol the stuff in the flask is after one pass through my setup

Next round I'm gonna do a celite pad in one buchner and a celite/charcoal bedin the other, I ended up with some super fine charcoal in my finished run so it definitely needed a another pass or 2

After that pass I figured it was too much charcoal if it totally cleared up my mix, so I cut in half and ended up with this run, you can see the residual charcoal on the mat, pretty sure if I can get it filtered properly I've struck gold using this method, I washed about 20 grams of Dbb trim and it's looking like about a 4 gram return , the stuff I washed will get run again hard and long for some edible oil.

I already ripped a fattie of it in my rig and the stone is quite intense, I like it for sure ???, not a bad way to get rid of trim at all imo

This is what the filter setup looks like before totally pulling vaccum on it

First filter cake with too much activated carbon

The left flask is 100% color remediated, the right was with about half the charcoal, I'm gonna tweak it a bit because I know if it's in contact too long it will leach up goodies as well.im gonna order a home test kit to try and ballpark where I'm at on potency

Well was gonna try a large run of RSO today but ended up having to filter and remediate some old green wash and my reclaim jar in order to get some clean ethanol to work with on the RSO, this run was done using both buchners, one was loaded with just celite on the frit, I used it to do the initial de winterizing run right out of the chest freezer, I used the fine frit with a grade 1 whatman paper filter, then a celite cake over that to remove the charcoal scrub, I've been using about a half a gram per estimated gram of finished product, I guessed at 5. I ran it through this setup 3 times after the first fast filter, I then poured it into the final jar through a funnel and 2 paper coffee filters to remove anything it picked up while working after the final buchner filter run, it's running in the source now, gonna purge it in the oven at 115 for as long as it takes to stop popping the bubbles on its own then I'll air dry for a day or 2 sampling along the way ??? 20210110_132427.jpg 20210110_132449.jpg 20210110_132628.jpg 20210110_133411.jpg

I'm in awe as well ??? just took a rip of the latest batch and it is ??? I added back 1 drop of kind grapefruit haze terps per estimated gram of finished product, right towards the end of the distillation and it bumped the flavor and the high up quite a bit, I'll remember this recipe for sure ???, I'll get pics of it up soon as it's done done

So got one quart jar of wash done in 9 hours, tried 3 different times for purging in the oven the first one got 10 mins at 115f it's pretty oily from the terps, but to me looks and smells fantastic, I stirred the shit out of it as it was cooling down 20210111_002842.jpg 20210111_003221.jpg 20210111_004247.jpg

Second run I added a tad less terps, 4 drops to 350ml of wash
It's about the consistency of pull n snap at room temp

And the last run is gonna spend the night in the dehydrator and well see what that turns out like hoping for shatter ???

It looks a lot better in person the camera seems to darken it up pretty bad lol

Gonna be an exciting day today, trying a few new things I've picked up from some major amounts of studying, gonna be running 6 ozs of popcorn buds that have been curing for a while now, tropical dunder, and purple Betty. The material was dried in a dehydrator for about an hour in a 1 gal paint straining bag, then hand broken down about to rolling consistency, it's all gonna get washed at as close to -60c as I can get with dry ice and isopropyl alcohol mixed together, hoping I won't pull any fats or chlorophyll this go, we shall see ??? all the material, iso, ethanol, and the jars are in the deep freeze, inside an igloo, packed with ice packs, cold is the name of this game ??????

Smashed it today, got 6 ozs washed and de winterized at the coldest I could go with dry ice and iso, took a while but I was methodical and timed everything so I can adjust next time based off what I got this run, hoping for some decent yields, hoping for at least an ounce of whatever it is I'm making, not sure what non shatter ethanol product is called ??? 20210115_145818.jpg 20210115_145814.jpg 20210115_155122.jpg 20210115_172649.jpg 20210115_155133.jpg 20210115_172707.jpg

@TerpyTyrone The buchner funnels and erlenmeyer flasks I got off amazon, 85 bones for both, one is grade3 frit one is grade 1 frit, also picked up some celite 545 for filtering fine ,also grabbed some activated charcoal powder both from best value vacs, the ac is for removing color and the celite is for fine filtration. i pre filter with a reusable coffee filter, and the workhorse is the source turbo machine from#extractcraft, 600 bucks but you get 95% of your ethanol back using it, I'm averaging about 5 to 7 grams per quart jar I run through it, and that number is about to go way up ??? the cold bucket is just a 5 dollar pail from lowes wrapped in pipe insulation(foil backed) then wrapped in white towel and wrapped with dollar store synthetic twine, ghetto AF but it worked great, I just poured a half gallon of iso alcohol in and started dumping dry ice in till it slowed bubbling, washing and filtering super cold is the secret to stable shatter and super clean extracts using this method, at those temps it can't pull water fats or chlorophyll, so the end product should be super stable. I'm probably into this about 800 dollars but if I kept at it I could easily do a quarter ounce of finished product a day, and I started out using trim the current runs awaiting distillation are double washed flower runs, should bu much higher quality, plus I add back terps to make sure it hits like ???
