Feminized breeding question

I appreciate the very detailed response! And it answers a lot of my questions on the subject. I kind of had a feeling that it really depended on who’s labeling it and as what. Since there isn’t really the established nomenclature for these things.

It sounds like as long as you make it clear as to how it was made it doesn’t matter how it’s labeled? But if you had an second generation fem cross would you then label the parents by the numbers in the lineage, or does it not really matter?
As long as you don't try to reinvent the solidly established nomenclature and give a sincere consistent effort to express what you're trying to present, you should be fine. Consistency is your friend here if you're going to establish a nomenclature to your efforts. If you want to use the R instead of the F to denote your filial reversals, don't jump back and forth between them because you'll invite confusion. The point is clear communication of what's going on. If you are aiming to branch out into more involved reversal work you'll be sought by growers who are willing to give an effort to understand your nomenclature so just be upfront about what means what and you'll be fine.

I have been toying with the idea of doing reversals for a little while but don’t know much other than the basics. This was more asked out of curiosity than anything but I think you pretty much covered the answer. So thank you again!

I was thinking that it would be kind of neat to do reg and fem work on the same lines which is what lead to this question. So say you made F2 reg and we will go with R2 in this scenario and so on down the line and then gave them out together. Seemed like a cool concept to me. Maybe I will consider doing this more seriously now ?

What I am really trying to figure out is why people aren’t doing feminized F2 and beyond and working lines that way? Like where normal line breeding would be brother to sister, it would be sister to sister instead.

At a certain point you could make an S1 and they should all be pretty uniform. But you are right it does seem like a lot of breeders are just trying to smash things together and make money, not testing anything and so forth.

Would breeding two sisters together make sense or is doing an S1 just a better way to go about it?
Its been tried , usual it starts causing inbreeding issues faster

I went to bed after putting out the bat signal and schwaggy and Dino sorted it. Great read by all involved. I think why most don't go past r2 is the hermaphrodite worry, the more stress reversing the line it increases the chances perhaps
I feel like making good selections would eliminate that worry though, because all that’s being transferred is genetic material. But then there is the whole side of epigenetics that isn’t fully understood either.

Well I suggest you run a journal so everyone can watch and watch you work some magic. My worry is that if you keep stressing a line up to ibl stage then you have either a line stressed to the Max that herms unless impeccable conditions or the toughest hardiest stress tough strain. A bit sink or swim i think. So jump on the sailing ship and sail the seas of feminised breeding for uncharted lands. As I say run the gauntlet as nothing ventured nothing gained. I'm very keen to see this play out, as I'm going to reverse a couple of females this season.
Note I read what I just wrote in this message, It is meant to be encouraging not condescending. I want everyone to succeed in life, against the system.

If and when I decide to take up the task I will certainly make a journal for it. Only one way to find out for sure, and it can’t hurt to try! Best of luck to you on your projects as well!

I feel like if you stress test before reversing you will be able to weed out the ones you don’t want to work with. Thus continuing a more stable line, but that’s all just theory for now.

Thanks everyone for chiming in, been very insightful and has given me more to think about!

I don’t have any intentions of selling seeds, more so just looking to make some stuff I like and maybe pass some out if I think they are good enough. A little extra money never hurt anyone though! And I’m sure there’s a few folks here who would support you for sure.
