First grow

Howdy all, first grow here and it's been a experience and a bit of fun. Started ultra rough and getting g things in order. Started a seed one day and it got slightly out of hand haha. Had bunch of pots under t5 menards gro lights under my comp desk. Stretched them real nice. So decided to build a room. Bunches of plywood and insulation later i had a room. During build I bought a exvelnce 2k light. What was my first mistake, should of done 3 600s or 2 1000s. Started plants in hot mg then fed half dose of 20 20 20, watering with well water 425+ ppm and decimated my plants with toxcicty. Found dr earth organic soil, bought ro, got ph and tds meter. Transplanted to 2 gal with dr earth little under 50% perlite. When I did I rinsed the roots off. Got a programmable dehumidifier after aswell. Now things are shaping up. Fed last night, was informed 75k light in veg is way to much and started noticing light stress yesterday. Backed off lights to 35k and I'm going to flip once this is cleared up a bit. Plants started last week of march and second batch a week after. The ones I started later are now out of room hardening off for outdoors. Also assume out of the 11 plants from bag seed the one male is back left in my room. Going to wait for balls to be sure.

And thanks for the greetings, I'm sure there is much to be learn from this community. Also have a mycology thread (fuck ya) also I like the dark background easier on the eyes.
I welcome the feedback, good or bad. Suggestions too. The user experience is very important to me as well, gotta be easy to navigate and have the good shit (y)

Front left plant I tried my hand at fim'ing. Thought ahh if I ruin one plant fuck it lol. I do believe it was 5th node when I did it. I will see buds but growth wise I say I will be doing it again. Middle plant has been favrotized and kinda always had center seat. It is the one that started all this. Thinking that's why its shorter (couple inches)and bushier. Front right and left seem stretched, front right has me thinking male aswell. Just by the accelerated growth in less light. Again, noob here these are all speculations. 20200521_192618.jpg 20200521_192639.jpg 20200521_192645.jpg

Btw I see now why one big light isnt a good choice. They are low heat I'm thinking of getting another one of them for next grow.

Is this a light you assembled ? Do tell,,,
The intensity is adequate, but the footprint is too compact ?
No, it is a exlenvce 2000w, and was going to link but now only find there 1200w and 1500w.(not a good sign lol) it says adequate for a 4x4 but under the light is soooooo much more then the sides. I rotate pots everyday. But dont switch there positions around. Think I'm going to order 3 600w then use this one for a mother or something and just make its room tall. Not sure it was like 230$ for light not crazy but dont want to shelf it either.

If you can afford the heat HID is much cheaper than LED. If not something like kingbright is best bang for buck in my eyes.
As of now heat is the factor that hasnt been thrown into the loop ?
Temps in 90s next week couple days in a row. That's 10 degrees hotter then it's been here and wasnt prolonged heat. I have a feeling when I leave work today I'm buying a ac. If I can easily control heat I will definitely look into hid bulbs. My wife gave me the go ahead to use half the garage lol. Ima try hydro vegetables first I think while using this room till i get it worked out.

@Fr3nzy look into the "white" LED options, such as Quantum Boards (QB), LED Strips, and COB (Chip on Board). I have run "blurples" and while they can do the job, the same money invested into the options I mentioned will grow better plants. Check the DIY and LED threads here, lots of great advice on the subject. HID is good for many folks, I've had great results as well, but the heat is a killer, especially with summer here. I will probably retire my HPS lights. I do like CMH (Ceramic Metal Halide) - not technically "HID" (it's LEC, Light Emitting Ceramic). A single 315W CMH can perform almost as good as a 600W HPS with less power and heat. I'm combining CMH and LED with my current runs.

Led interested me on the 425w =2k hps, well that's how they sold it to me and with little knowledge I said yep lol. Then started reading and realised I messed up. Thanks for input, I will be starting me next grow a few weeks before hopefully a harvest. If I grow in 3 gal and flip sooner I can get around 20 plants in same foot print. But I have 50 of these seeds. Thinking make floor rack bigger with new lights and grow all 50. But could possibly be a pipe dream we will see lol. There not feminized seeds so wont be 50 actually.

Sometimes I read stuff that says 20 per meter SOG, and 12 a meter for Scrog.
That would play well with the big light you have. Quick flip- giving a short canopy of buds. Point source lighting WILL give you coverage, given it is situated FAR enough away. That can not be done with an underpowered light.
If a guy went to buy ONE light, ,,you made the right choice. (Point-source) Only a powerfull light could illuminate the whole space.
