Fungus Gnat

1588687823333.png

Prevent: Do not overwater, keep the relative humidity of your garden low, do not let the surface of your grow medium stay soggy. Cover hydroponic medium surfaces to prevent growth of green algae.

Identify: Fungus gnats attack your plant in their adult stage and larval stage. The maggot of the fungus gnat is almost invisible to the human eye with see-through bodies and a black head. These maggots infest the upper roots of your plants and can spread throughout the entire root system in hydroponic mediums. Maggots love dark, dank, moist, soaked environments. Check the medium at the base of your plant for these pests, fungus gnat larvae are notoriously happy in rockwool. These creatures infest root systems, damaging larger roots and consuming root hairs. This causes your plant to weaken, slow its growth, and fading in the foliage. These wounds to the roots make marijuana insanely vulnerable to several types of fungus. Maggots love dying plant matter and will only infest more heavily the more damaged your plant becomes. Adult gnats are grey to black, very small and have very very long legs. Females lay eggs prolifically at the rate of 200 eggs weekly and will usually be found at the base of your plant along with maggots. Additionally, these little pests will stick to your sticky flowering green like crazy and are basically impossible to remove.

Eradicate
Repression: Reducing surface moisture in your plants medium will slow fungus gnats reproductive cycle dramatically, the drier the better. Applying an anti-algae product around the bases of your plant will kill any growing green algae and reduce the food sources of growing maggots. Yellow sticky traps placed 2 inches from the base of your medium will snag a good chunk of departing adults.
Predators: Introducing a predator for the gnats themselves has proved ineffective at eliminating a population. The predatory soil mite Hypoaspis and nematode Steinemema feltiae will severely impact the insect population if introduced to soil grows. These creatures will not be effective countermeasures in hydroponic application.
Manual Removal: Impossible. You can swat a few but your threat is from what has already been laid underground.
Spray: Neem or insecticidal soap applied as a soil drench will kill eggs and larvae present in 1-3 applications. Any pesticide spray containing the fungal culture Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis (Bt-i) will successfully eradicate adult gnats. Apply soil drenches and spray simultaneously every 5-10 days.

Forgot to mention I'm a painter/paint detailer. I see colors different than most people (so I understand if you dont see it ?)
I noticed the slight green vs slight brown color in it, but wasn't sure if that was the reference. Lol.
The stuff that's been washed does have a smoother hit to it imho.
Anyone ever seen the layers of dust that form on everything. Lol.
It's on the buds too, whether seen or not. Lol.
I don't wanna smoke that, or any other foreign matter for that matter. Lol.

Nice. Can you see colors like a female (supposedly Billion+ more than most males)? My good friend, he can see shades that no guy can see (except you probably lol)

Lol I literally took that part out of the other post but yes I can see color better than most women too. My bodymen would look at me like I was crazy when I would point paint stuff out to them. I could even draw lines on the car showing the blends of repairs & the difference in color & they could not see what I was talking about.

My painter friend can see the different colors in things.
Like all I see is a cool light grey color and he's all this has too much green to it. Lol.
I see the different shades of grey and shades of other colors, but if it's subtle I can't tell the difference between a soft blue gray from a soft green grey. They're just grey. Or just creamy. Lol

Exactly lol that's the story for most people. You start telling someone its too blue/violet & they are like, "what? I thought the car was red?" lol

I'm the same way with houses and buildings. Lol.
Oh this is a nice place.
Well yeah except for this, this, and this. Lol
Oh wait, and that too. Lmfao.
Out of habit I'm always looking and internally critiquing how things are built and or finished. Lol

Back in the day we had a colorblind friend. We had a fluorescent orange Nerf football. He came by and asked to play. Then he said, "Ok where's the ball?" 1 foot in front of him on fresh cut green grass. Nothing.

Damn that's crazy. I had a friend who was partially color blind & didnt know it til he tried joining the Navy. I think he didn't see red very well, lots of colored cars just looked a bland brownish color to him. Weird part was even tho he couldnt see the actual color very well, he could see the difference in things when they were off or a bad blend, just couldnt tell you what was wrong with it colorwise.

Lol, me too for the most part.
I typically let my guys do all the demo, and rough work, and don't throw my lot in except for technical shit, and fine finish details.
I pick the tricky shit to fuck with. Lol.
Otherwise I'm trying to work away from wearing the toolbelt so much anymore.
Wanna keep what I have and quit beating on my body so much. Lol

BTi, for the win.

Hardly, hardly, off topic.

In the second World war colour blind soldiers were employed as ariel spotters and map interpreters.
With out hue distractions, these people were more adept @ spotting irregularities, as they had adapted to identifying shapes.

My bow-hunting mentor was colourblind. He would critique my camo choices, and tell me what the deer would see.

Did the Navy turn him down? I know for merchant mariners licence you can not be color blind. Telling the difference between red and green is pretty big deal on the water. Christmas time is hard on the mariners for navigation with the amount of red and green Christmas lights. Sometimes this can create confusion when navigating a unfamiliar port at night.

He tried becoming a Seal. Navy kept him but his career choices were kinda limited after that.

I asked once what about traffic lights, red and green. They can see different shades of gray. I can totally see what you're referring to.

I bet they were also feeding those soldiers bilberry extract.
