Fungus gnats

Wanted to throw this out there for some possible ideas. Battling another bout with the gnats this round. I am pretty consistent with soil soaks with BMT so was kinda surprised when they cropped up. Low and behold i discovered a small water pocket in one of the trays. I am fairly certain that is were they hatched. I have treated that with a dunk and yellow sticky's they have mostly died off. My question for all is i am seeing quite a few of the gnats are stuck on the tricombs on the plant. I hang my plants whole these days so i was thinking about doing a plant wash with water and HP ( dipping in a barrel or something) then maybe a rinse in the shower. Any thoughts on weather this will remove the gnats from the plant. Also i have another 4 weeks left on the cycle so maybe they will get old and crispy and wash off.

It may remove some but idk about all. Will have to change your water or skim it a few times I think they would kinda pool up @ the surface. I washed my outdoor last year & it def knocked a lot of crap off but fungus gnats weren't an issue then.

I have dealt with them before but never noticed them sticking to the sugar leaves mostly. Most have been a big bloom. I have quite a bit of yellow sticky around the garden. Guess i could do some precision wet trimming.

Crumble those mosquito dunks up or just pour out the bits version & put a little on the bottom in the soil & top dress your pots when you start em or transplant. I havent had fungus gnats in a long time & I think it's partly because of the dunks.

Capt, good timing on this question. I have the exact same thing right now, except substitute fungus gnats with whiteflies. I'm about a month away from chop and I've already sprayed the shit outta the plants with Plant Therapy, removed the really affected leaves, etc. I hate em almost as much as I hate spider mites. One of the main reasons I'm shutting down that area after this run is to seal it up better.

Forbid 4f for whitefly & mites ? but only in veg.

Great Tips on the dunks. I am going to try that out. I treat the coco regularly with BMT but if the dunks alone work it would save a lot of work.

So for coco I wouldn't powder it but give it a nice grind & top dress. & I'm not sure how dry you let your coco get but I think the donuts would work better if they stay a little moist so maybe put it under a light layer of coco.

In ss#4 I figure gnats are gonna hit the top of the pots so I top dress, but I also hit the bottom couple inches with a dusting to help treat the drain holes too because I always looked at it if one door is closed maybe theres a back & those mfs always find it lol.

any flower solutions? Plant Therapy is supposed to work for almost everything all the way through, seems to be working. Just need to keep reapplying. I worry about the resiude so when Capt posted about it, joined in.
Certainly could not hurt washing the buds for any residuals from the spray treatment. Easy enough the last time i did it was very easy. I have been hanging whole plants lately so the wash will be more difficult. @JL2G inspired me when he posted washing the whole plants in the shower :D

I personally have only dealt with mite problems in early flower a few times & we used mighty wash & it worked very well. A few guys at the other spot swore by this stuff called "green cleaner" or something like that, would use it up to harvest, but I personally have not used that product.

I'm considering trying the baking soda/lemon juice with different temp water in buckets. Although a simple spray off would definitely be easier. That shower video was a cool demo of physics (and stoner ingenuity) at work (y)

I typed in fungus gnat, and this is what it gave me.
It's neat so here it is. Lol.

The shower works quite well for the plant wash for sure.
I was going to get a spring loaded rod to use just for that purpose. Lol

Jesse and his new toy :ROFLMAO: . @JL2G do you think the dip and rinse will wash the Gnats off? Must have been a big hatch the yellow sticky's got most of them and a couple dozen are so landed on the sugar leaves and got stuck. I thought that it might have been something other than gnats but i scoped a couple and saw that they were defiantly gnats. One i was looking at was still alive and i could clearly see he was stuck on the sugar leave just like the yellow sticky's. I have had a couple of bouts with the gnats but never noticed this before. I am sure i have smoked a mountain of bugs from Mexico but i did not know they were in there at the time and the thought of consuming them grosses me out. The Mac 1 is a much better sticky trap than the other plants:D

There's bound to be some that end up staying, but I'd think for the most part they'd all come off, but the ones stuck deep may not.
